also ask a pro chemist or pharmacist on how can u treat it so it doesnt get all green and smelly

A little bleach can make stagnant water drinkable

Completely agree!
Glad you opened this thread and hope members can take it seriously, not all in the world is joke...
I do the following actions to save water:
- My house is equipped with rain collecting system so I use very small amount from the general water supply
- I close the shower during I put soap on me
- I wash my car with buckets or high pressure pumps
- My toilet is water saving approved
- Pee in the shower for real
Also choosed the place to where I live based on the water resources, we have a lot of humidity almost all year!

To save water we should replace it with Brawndo, because that's what plants crave.

It's not that water is becoming really scarce... it's just that DRINKABLE water is becoming scarce because of pollution and geographical drought. My great-great-grandparents already got me covered; I live in a country where we cuss the sky 'til it rains and cuss it 'til it stops.
I do my part for my good friends in Singapore by pissing southwards.

Yeh Singapore's water supply is quite good, my brother just graduated from nanyang this year. Well I heard most if your potble water imported from Malaysia.

Well, the joke is that Malaysian water tastes so bad that Singaporeans rather drink their own piss.
Being someone with refined tastebuds, I beg to differ. But still funny nonetheless

Yah... I should do more to conserve... but water is so easy to waste... I bet the following is stolen by kohler:
Coin operated (or eft linked) water system with display to show RT use (and cost) - more accountability usually results in greater conservation...
water is kinda like poker chips or the card system at a casino... I bet it would be much more difficult to gamble away 10k worth of pennies (in one shot) as opposed to a few (or one) poker chip that held the same value...
I suppose most developed countries have come to a low point where water is devalued and taken for granted (potable water, that is)

My wife and I shower together, that's about or biggest effort to conserve water...

Climbing 3 story roof punishable?

OK so my friend and I threw balls on the roof for laughs. We got caught and had to get them down. But with what, you might ask? Well the teachers made us climb up the 3 story roof and push the balls down. It was raining too, so that made it slippery. It was also tilted, and there was nothing to hold onto but the edge of the roof. What I'm asking is, is this legal? Could it be punishable by law or get to the local authorities? Because we could have stayed after school with a supplied ladder and get the balls down! This is not hypothetical. I won't do naything with the cops, but I'm just interested. Given the conditions, rain, tilted, and 3 stories high, what did we learn from this? Teamwork of two 14 year old guys pushing each other up a roof? My hands started to bleed when I was done pushing the balls down from holding onto the sharp edge of the roof. And I know I've said this, I just want to reinforce it. I WILL NOT DO ANYTHING! I AM MERELY INTERESTED! Thanks for the time xD

It will have hopefully taught you a valuable lesson about maturity... You throw something up on a roof... How do you expect it will get down? Someone will have to go onto it and fetch it...
If you fell, it was your own fault, and I guarantee you would have never dared throw something onto the roof again (after you got out of hospital)
definitely illegal haha, good lesson though!

Note was Snatched from hands(!) in Chicago yesterday. Any cases w/chains?!

Yep, checking texts and yep, BAM...Snatched and sprint.
Police report or Tracing did nothing.
Anyone know of cases that also have chains?
Thanks
The official Samsung protective case has a slot for a lanyard, but I doubt it'd be strong enough to withstand it being snatched from your hands (or you might be left with a case and no phone)
I think some of the aluminium bumper cases have lanyard slots and they'd be a much safer bet for something like this. If I'm mistaken about the lanyard slot you could also insert one between the headphone port and the 2nd microphone, but that might cause issues with noise cancellation.
I think a lanyard with the official sammy case will stop a snatched and grab.

If you have a strong enough lanyard, just find a case that works with it. Make sure it is a tough case and it will be strong enough to stay and not break or at least make the snatcher think it isn't worth it to take one.

Bit of a sidetrack, but regarding the 'carry a gun' thing, no. Showing a gun on your hip doesn't scare away the really motivated criminals.
It makes you target #1.
And a good video to go along with the info:
Ignore the comments because as usual, on Youtube they're half ignorant and half truthful and half bat-poop insane and half of all phrases using "half" are made up percentages.
This might be a good off-topic conversation so as not to derail the current thread...
That's terrible about your phone getting stolen. Over the weekend I saw this on the news (see link below) about thieves stealing phones and selling them at the mall. I never heard or seen these kiosks before.
http://video.msnbc.msn.com/nightly-news/52009921
I wonder if something like a Sling Grip or Fly Grip would reduce the chances of someone taking the phone out of your hands. It's not full proof, but it could hinder the thief.

This video doesn't even talk about the visible presence of a gun being a crime deterrent. Unless you mean concealed carry instead of showing a gun on your hip.
However I do agree with the majority of the points presented.
Going to geek out for a second, but if the perceived reward for the criminal is greater than the perception of the sanction against the act (i.e. getting shot or caught), then the criminal will try to 'get er done' anyway.
In other words, if the person open carrying looks like a target, they will still be a target, but now with a higher priority and more likely to receive a violent opening to the event.
The average Joe doesn't practice with their firearms anywhere near to the level of a soldier or law enforcer. Their retention self defense is minimal along with the very popular Serpa holsters or Uncle Mike's holsters that allow anyone to yank really hard and pull out the weapon.
All that being said, I'm a big fan of concealed carry.
Concealed carry is the dumbest argument for this kind of situation. What would you do? The person snatched it from your hands. A concealed (can't be seen) wouldn't deter the person. You weren't vigilant enough to stop that from happening so you're going to pull your gun and put other innocent people at risk?
And a gun on the hip and can be seen is a bigger danger as far as I'm concerned. One sucker punch and an opportunistic criminal is taking that gun off of you. Another gun on the streets in the wrong hands.
I'm not against guns and all that...I just think some clueless people that watch too much TV think they can go buy a gun and go to the range once a year and all of a sudden are experts on self defense.
I don't know about you, but I don't want to have to kill someone over a cell phone. There's no telling if that person that took off with the phone is carrying either and I don't know about where you live, but here it's usually a group of teens and they could care less about really running half the time. You just have to know to be vigilant when things seem fishy. And if you ride public transportation watch at all stops.

Really crowded sat afternoon in Chicago too... he ran down an alley...I screamed: 'stop him'...guys at the other end of the alley had 5 sec or more to react but just stood dumbfounded and watched him run by. (I guarantEE U, I would have stopped him and enjoyed it, had roles been reversed).
Cop said it's the #1 911 in all of Chicago now.
Easiest $200-$300 to snatch.
Why can't stolen devices be made completely unusable by Samsung/carriers...like completely.
It' d solve the problem.

I think the visible chain would be a deterrent....they do size up their victims, and seeing that...would likely have them look elsewhere.
If it didn't, don't think much of an injury would occur.
I'm not joining the carrying the argument. All sides have valid points. Although, I did find the two videos interesting.
As for your case situation, it's hard to say what would work best. Not much if you're just using a cheapy TPU case. If you had something like a Defender, you could cut slots, feed some material, like what is used for dog leashes. On the end, inside the phone, I would super glue it to flat piece of strong plastic or metal. The other end, super glue it to form a loop. The material would maintain comfort. Personally, I think it would get old fast.
As a general rule, to really prevent it, one needs to pay attention to what's going on around them. Obviously, you must have used the phone a bit earlier and the thief saw and followed you, noticed you weren't paying attention. We know the rest
Also, sorry to hear about your phone.
OP: Are you not setup with the Samsung tracking facility? I'm surprised nobody has asked yet?

This just became my favorite thread.
On a family vacation to Toronto, my family went to a local mall to eat dinner in the food court. My dad got up to go through his leftover scraps away. A minute or so after he came back, my mom made this disgusted face and said, "AUUGH, what is that awful smell?!?!" She then proceeded to check my little brother's diaper, and asked if me or my little sister had pooped our pants. My dad is turning blue in the face laughing through all of this, and my mother finally caught on. We all looked over to the trash can where he threw his food away. There were two teenage girls, bent over with green faces, trying not to puke, as the stench from my dad's fart was so bad. To this day, my dad is forbidden by the Toronto city authorities from entering.
I made my own mark (not in my pants) a few years later when I farted so bad on our way home that my dad fell out of the car. He wasn't hurt, as we had just pulled into our driveway, but the smell was pretty bad.
Just a couple of many awesome fart stories

Does anyone swim with their S5?

So, I just got this s5 and decided to take the water resistancs to a new level.
I first ended up going to Cedar Point Amusement park, and went to the water park with it. Took a few video's with it on the slides, etc. Then went to the Wavepool , kept in my pock so it was no more then a few feet under water at any time.
Worked great, phone was still working. Just an FYI, if you do use it underwater, your signal strength will die, no cell signal underwater guys, I first thought the phone fried, but then relized, that was the issue, and then in a min, 4G was back! (I was freaked when I realized my pebble told me I was not connected.) Played with my Sphero for a bit.
a week later, I was at a festival doing some shooting, I was invited to the pool, with all the drugged up artists ,.. They all thought I was on every drug known to man because I brought my phone in the pool to take pictures (a few under water ones too!)
So far so good. I will admit that the phone at no time was fully submerged for more then 5 or 10 min at a time. but the phone still works great, and just needs a rince and dry to get the touch screen to work nomaly again.

my theory, is if I am going to actualy do long swimming with it, I will put it my waterproof bag, but jumping into the pool for a quick jaunt, playing with my Sphero, or a waterslide where my phone is not UNDER water for more then a few min at a time, I will risk it.
I never keep phones long enough anyways.

Chlorine will destroy your waterproof capabilities.
Also your speaker will get saturated and sound like crap - eventually the phone will have a weak speaker resulting in popping/crackling sounds. Just FYI...You can take pictures and the phone can get wet but if your doing it everyday of summer, bad things could happen. I think the Active can do it better than the reg S 5, but I wont go swimming with it. Maybe take pictures once in a while in the pool.
? Makes No sense to me but hey i dont have a silver spoon in my mouth. Even if i could i woulnt cause its a waist of good hardware. Maybe everyone should be poor once in thier life and would appreciate things more.

It's probably not high enough to break the seal, yes, but your headphone jacks are being exposed to chlorine, as are your speakers. Filtered water at home wouldn't corrode the equipment as fast since... well that's chlorine's job, you're not drinking chlorinated water at home. But yeah, the speakers and headphone jack aren't directly part of the board if I'm correct, instead they are attatched to it (I suck at explaining things, bear with me please) by the looks of it, probably explaining why you can buy the headphone jack and speakers separately as replacement parts instead if the whole board. The reason why the slip is on the charging port is to protect the board, which is in more cases a lot more important than sound equipment. I hope I explained that generally well for no sleep in 36 hours.

The only thing i can say with absolute confidence is that if you brick your phone, don't expect much help. You're using the phone way out of the normal guidelines.

Some people have insurance policies, some people have more money and are willing to play with it. Some people are spoiled and didn't pay for their phone and can just ask for another one when it breaks. Whatever the reason, thank you.

and some people take the risk and deal with the consequences. I have taken the phone in the pool, and when I am done, I do clean it off, do I plan on doing it on a regular basis, NO, I only did it because I was thinking, I had 30 days to return this phone if it explodes, so I took the risk, in general, If I ever do plan on going to the pool in the future, I have a waterproof bag that I use.
Now the shower, man, is nice to change the song and see whats playing. but I don't submerge it.
Long story short, I was asking for outcomes, I was not asking if anyone was a spoiled brat, had more money then god, did't care if the phone exploded or whatever, those are just troll answers, I was looking for experiences of people willing to take risks, what their device's outcome was, not their financial outcome.
and about chlorine and the seals, that is a legit concern, just like salt in salt water pools. I did not think of that, and this is why i asked.
Water + electricity = busted ****. Common sense. And when the first battery does explode (not 100% on if the battery will do this) from taking into elements they have no business being in I'm sure someone will jump on some lawsuit even though it was there fault cause we all know water and electricity go so well together.

What? The phone is built to withstand a certain degree of water, hence the iP67 rating, I don't underatand why you are jumping to these astronomically implausible conclusions.
I don't know if you have seen the videos on YouTube but the S5 is highly resistant to water, even more so than the IP67 rating would lead you to believe.
Batteries can explode from various things, sitting too long can cause them to puff up, a direct impact/force can also cause it to explode.
Water+Electricity is bad but telling people their battery will explode if their S5 encounters water is simply doing a disservice to them. There are limits to the S5's water resistance as there are limits to many other things in life, we respect those limits and stay within the designated "safe" boundaries. There is no difference with the S5, respect the limits of the water resistance and continue enjoying the feature.

The battery exploding is more or less hypothetical as I said I wasn't a 100% and furthermore like I said water and electricity don't mix. One little flaw in you precious waterproof seals and poof your phones done. I myself have noticed just from charging my phone the USB flap is already loose so no I would not trust submerging my phone in water at any depth. and as for the waterproof rating i would think that applies to things like getting caught in the rain on your phone or dropping it in the toilet and ouickly removing it. Not jumping in a pool or going scuba diving and taking pictures underwater. Purposely Taking your phone into water or any other liquid is just STUPID it's water resistant not watertight or waterproof. Do with your phone what you will I just hate seeing hardware abused even if it is not mine. Sorry if this upsets anyone just my opinion.

The IP67 rating means Ingress Protection, the S5 in this case is 100% Dust proof as it has the highest value on the scale for dust resistance. The 2nd number in which the S5 has a 7 means water resistant at depths of up to 1m for up to 30 minutes, there is only one level above the S5's rating. This rating is given based on standardized testing so assuming you follow the specified limits and make sure your port covers are sealed, you should be fine taking your device with you in up to 1m of water.
Regarding the loosening of the port cover, that is a major point of concern. My port cover is still very tight fitting but I am have been extremely cautious in making sure it stays at 90° from the opening and doesn't bend in any other direction as to not weaken the flap.

Yea the flap is what has me believing it shouldn't be submerged. Say your sitting poolside and drop ur phone in, Yea it's good to have the iP67 rating but just from removing the USB flap to charge i would throw that rating out the window. It's loose

Z Fold2 water & ice test

Some food stuff right here. Amazed at both videos...
Pretty unexpected to me
Galaxy Z Fold2 | 2 Days AFTER the Water Test & Water Freeze Test
Sam is a BEAST
Not a bright idea at all. Freezing water can easily fracture granite and has been used like this for quarrying. The amount of pressure freezing water* can exert is enormous. What could go wrong?
"Something Samsung didn't mention about Fold2: it had an anti erosion waterproof coating on the main internal components. Doesn't make it waterproof, but should help it survive a dunk."
In other words all it has for "waterproofing" is a conformal coating on the PCBs. The ribbon connectors are not waterproof... all those contact surfaces. Let's see if it fails in the next month or year... or today.
A sick joke of a vid... don't try this at home kiddies
*water expanse approximately 9% as it freezes. Anything in it's way... moves. Ice is not compressible no more than water and the laws of hydraulics come into play.

I think you missed the whole point of the videos. Dude, you're just becoming a troll now. I really don't get it.
You've made it clear you hate the Z Fold 2. You don't have anything nice to say about Samsung. Honest question, why do you spend so much time in the Z Fold forums? Why do you spend ANY time in the Z Fold forums? There's plenty of phones I don't like for one reason or another, but other people do like them. That's why they have their own forums. It just seriously baffles me.

Simple physics. Posting bad intel like this absurd vid misleads members about the durability of this device.
My thoughts based on facts.
This upsets you? You'll really going to ticked when you find I was spot on...
The joke's on you. Deal with it.

Well, for one the video isn't made to encourage anyone to freeze their phone. Not is it intended as a demonstration of how the phone should be treated. The author of the video even states this in the videos.
I never said I was upset. I asked you a clear question, which you failed to answer.

I choose what I feed a troll, which threads I create and post on.
Don't ask questions that don't have any answers.
As for that phone surviving the ice challenge intact, it didn't.
What's next the salt water challenge?
A good vid for you to make...

I realize you choose what threads you post/create. It's obvious you are just a troll. You make no contribution to this site at all. You just confirmed it.
Again, no one said it survived intact. You're putting words in people's mouth. Again, you're just being an obvious troll. I'm done wirh you. You can leave now.

God bless you Mr. O... I think that's how y'all say what I'm really thinking about you.
Here's some more info about the sealing technology or lack of on the Z. Wonder if that fiber seal holds water? They would pack the drill holes with sawdust, add water then allow it to freeze when quarrying granite over a century ago.
Saw dust, fiber seal... perfect and Freeze!
Redirecting
A fiber seal doesn't seem so clever as it only seals out some of the dust but not water.
Maybe on the next Fold generation Samsung will get it right.
Don't hold your breathe on that though...
Ahhh... That's better. And he's gone. For me at least.

Trolls are like bullies... they can't take the heat.
Or owe up to being wrong.
I doubt if anytime soon I'll need to admit the Fold series is a reliable, dust/water sealed phone with a display that has survival rate close to the one screen flagships.
A cool but fundamentally flawed design.
All those glowing reviews are pig slop.
Add this absurd vid to that collection of disinformation.
