A quirk of the Advent Vega (also Tegra) that allows you to enter fastboot mode also applies on the 2X (Thanks Bumble-Bee for the tip!)
Basically, if you wipe the boot partition (e.g. 'dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p5') then reboot, the device drops to fastboot.
Handy testing feature for devs.

That sounds great!
Does fastboot boot work? Does fastboot flash work? Any other lockdowns there?

Fastboot boot did, didn't try anything else yet!

Fastboot flash works, ish.
I could flash recovery, but not boot. What would be nice is a radio in .img format so I don't have to backup and restore the bastard thing when a new one is out.
Ahh this would be so awsome.. since i Smartflash can't detect my P990
(so i can't flash the latest basebands or revert them)
Gief Radio in .img format !
Would anyone Know how to get the radio as .img ?
Would this work on the T-Mobile LG G2X?
Good question.
I expect the boot partition is different, so don't blindly follow the command here.

I did follow the command blindly with my P990, but no boot for me. Luckily there's an escape with the NVflash stock ROM.
It's fine on the P990, it's meant to 'not' boot, it's not broken at that stage, it's in fastboot. You can fastboot boot your way out of it.
Is this a safe option to try on my v10D? Fastboot decreases boot time by how much really?
That's not what fastboot means, to be honest, this isn't going to be for you
Hey All,
I was trying to install GingerStreak 2.4.4 from GingerStreak 2.4.3.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1333010
According to the instructions, I flashed
amss.mbn - http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/amss.mbn
and
dsp1.mbn - http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/dsp1.mbn
(got both the files from the first link above)
Then when I tried to reboot into Bootloader (Power+Vol Up+Vol Down) but nothing happens apart from the Dell logo being displayed.
I try to boot normally, still stuck at the Dell logo. The phone never even reaches the boot animation.
I try to go boot into fastboot (power+camera key)mode, but the phone never even boots. The screen stays off, so do the LED lights.
I figured out that the files downloaded above were incomplete(due to slow speed Chrome showed incomplete files as download complete).
amss downloaded: 111KB. Actual Size: 15.41MB
DSP1 Downloaded: 250KB. Actual Size: 8.94MB
So, I flashed the wrong files.
Now, I guess, the phone is bricked big time.
I need big time to get into fastboot mode (to flash the correct files) or anyhow get my phone working.
Guys, need help. Please help me out and get this issue sorted out.
You should maybe consider the Streak forum...
Sorry, my bad. I just searched for my problem an found this thread. Poured out all my worried without bothering to check on the device name.
Thanks anyhow!
I have motorola droid but not active on a data plan as I recently got a t-bolt. I used superoneclick to root it which goes smooth. However, I can't flash a rom b/c of e:can't mount sdcard /dev/block/mmcblk0. I've tried using fastboot through adb with command fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 but I think it isn't compatible with droid. Any other ideas that may be similar to fastboot oem enableqxdm 0 or how to get fastboot on my phone.
Or - am I just screwed for flashing new roms on phone?
No you are not screwed but the droid does not support fast boot as far as i know. Just use a rsdlite sbf from rootzwiki.com to get a recovery on your phone and then flash your favorite rooted rom (hint liquid gingerbread lol)
This might help:

hi im new here as a member of xda but hae learned a ton by reading around the site. ive currently ran into an issue with my atrix hd (mb886) i updated the firmware i tried multiple versions to see if the problem was with the file. even with stock firmware if i dont use a rom i get stuck on motorolla screen. i have cwm revocery. my bootloader is unlocked and before i updatd the firmware my phone was rooted. so at this point i tried installing multiple roms. 1: CM =bootloop 2:jellybam=bootloop 3:btakang rises- screen passes the motorolla screen and goes to a black screen that flashes every 6 seconds. my fastboot menue reads the following
normal power up
recovery
ap fastboot
factory
bp tools
when ii enter ap fastboot this is what i see
ap fastboot flash mode (s)
10.9B(*) (sha-ca705b9,2013-02-17 18:17:55)
eMMC info: size 8gb
device is unlocked, status code:3
battery ok
transfer mode
fastboot reason:boot menue selected (that sometimes changews to sticky etc only if im connected and flashing firmware via command promt on laptop)
im not sure what i need to do to fix my phone at this point if i can get the thing to turn on idc what rom or firmwar i use lol thanx alot in advance
I got a message saying that an update is availible and i tried to download and install it but it failed two different times so i gave up. Now after several power cycles due to normal use my razr i is stuck in a boot loop (static red moto symbol then boot animation with intel inside repeating).I got the phone into fastboot mode and then I downloaded and installed rsd-lite and all motorola drivers. 2 different computers that ive tried rsd lite does not detect the phone however fastboot does. Factory option just resumes the boot loop. I dont know how to procede from here?
Edit: Phone is locked bootloader unrooted
Okay i guess this thread can be left incase anyone else gets in my position. I was able to fix my phone as fastboot was able to detect. i simply typed
Code:
fastboot -w reboot
and it wiped my userdata and cache and allowed the phone to boot.
