There are some weird issues I have been noticing with my SGS regarding bluetooth.
At first, I got slightly irritated when I found out I was suffering what I thought to be this issue on my SGS (noticed after flashing to JP6, later on JPX and now also on JPY). But since, I have been carefully narrowing down the problem (there seem to be several variants of the issue bundled within the one linked) and have finally figured out how to reproduce the error (sort of, at least in my setting: SGS-I9000, BMW 1series car BT system).
After setting a custom BT device name and pairing to the car, the BT handsfree works flawlessly on spot and if disconnecting and reconnecting later. The problem starts after rebooting. Now, here's where I'm getting inconsistent results.
Most times the bluetooth info I entered is simply reset to factory defaults: the pairing list is empty and the device name is set to the standard "Galaxy S".
Some other times however, it gets much more annoying: all the settings seem to be intact (pairing and device name stay as set) but BT connection always drops after about 60s (regardless of wheather you start/receive a call or not).
Is this a known issue? Did any of you experience this behavior? Any known fixes?
Thanks!
Phil
What ROM are you running? Get yourself onto the newest Froyo and see if the problem goes away. I definitely don't have problems with mine going to headphones, ear headset, or in car system.
Doc kitchen (jan 3rd) + Hardcore kernel JPY (which means latest kernel/drivers). This has been happening to me all along though, despite of rom changes (also happened with stock JP6 and darky's JPX).

Hi,
same problem for me: the bluetooth connection to my Parrot MKI9200 car audio system drops after a few seconds. This was not the case with ROMS older than JPX/JPY.
Are you still having this issue? I just flashed Serendipity 6.2 and have the same problem. When I reboot the Bluetooth settings are reset to default.

The issue disappeared on flashing to a new rom. I'm soory not to be able to give you more details because I found out the issue was gone by surprise (I had stopped using the car handsfree alltogether because of the issue).
Right now I'm on a Doc rom (hardcore kernel, JPY radio, ext4 system & data, ext4nj cache) and it works perfectly!

I am unable to get my Captivate to even see my Plantronics 320 headset. I have run several ROMs including the stock, the Samsung update and several versions of Cog 2.2, currently running 2.2.5. I know that it works with my HTC Fuze (Raphael) running Windows Mobile and it pairs though does not work properly when running Xandroid 2.2 on my Fuze (proper bluetooth operation known to be an issue with Xandroid). Normally I would just assume that it is hardware incompatibility between the 320 and Captivate but when I google this issue, there are websites selling the 320 specificially for the Captivate (fommy_com for example). Thanks in advance.
What specifically is happening? First time I flashed to Froyo (Not cognition) I had issues as well, it would pair, prompt for the code, then connect and immediately disconnect. I was stuck in that loop and couldn't get it working. Flashed to Cog shortly after and it's worked fine since.
Also could be simple compatibility issues. That's an older set so if you were having problems in 2.1 that may be th ecase.
With the headset turned on, I enable bluetooth in Android and it scans and does not find the headset. Repeated scans do not find the headset. Pressing the button on the headset does not help. Turning the headset on while scanning does not help. The phone does see my neighbor's Macbook so it appears to be scanning appropriately.
It is funny: I don't use the headset much but it bothers me to no end that I can't get it to pair and I have spent what some people would consider a ridiculous amount of time trying to get it work. Personality flaw.
Fixed issue. Not entirely what I did but now pairs. ?Perhaps I reset the headset with multiple long presses? Anyways, works now.
Hi guys,
I am having problems with car BlueTooth hands free and Samsung Galaxy S:
With Eclair 2.1 it was working flawlesly, connected automaticlay after paired, I could make phonecals, receive phonecals, no quality issue, phonebook worked fine etc... The only problem was that once I did not swithced the BT on my SGS before starting to drive, for some security reasons the car was not searching for phones while driving, so I had to turn the BT in car off and on again and then it connected well. But overal problem free...
With latest 2.2 Froyo (i9000xfjp7) and also previous Froyo distributions (i tried JPA if I remember correctly), the phone can be paired, it connects to the car but after one phonecall it looses connection and works no more. The strange thing is, the BT icon on the phone shows brackets (like when connected) and also the car shows the phone is still connected. But phonecalls cannot be made via car HF and also cannot be received through it. Only by manualy accepting or dialing on the phone. And naturally the sound goes only via the phone, no HF.
The strange thing is, when I turn off the car and leave it, the phone says it is still connected to it, which is impossible.
Any ideas?
Thank you!

That is weird... When I switch back to Eclair, it works OK, back to Froyo, no HF after one phonecall...
I dont know how to work with ROMs, I managed to find out how to flash firmwares, I even handled many problems with Odin and its moods, incomplete flashes, etc... But I dont know how to use these custom ROMs...
Anyway, i would appreciate if someone told me how to resolve it without custom ROMs, as I plan to use offical Froyo when it becomes available, but with this issue, it is useless for me, as I travel a lot...
No one else?
I'm having a related problem.
I'm getting music stream cut outs (1 sec max) when streaming bluetooth to caraudio WHILE wifi on.
If i disable wifi, bluetoothaudio works fine. I know they share range bt/wifi, but this is unacceptable. They should negotiate. Everytime wifi scans, i get cutouts. Unusable. Only workaround is disabling wifi (and thats annoying because i have to be constantly activating/disabling it everytime i enter somewhere with wifi etc.
Using Docrom xxjpo v8 with voodoo.
Anyone has some software fix that makes wifi behave better when bluetooth musictream on?
I am currently running Perception 10.2 and the Firebird 2.3 kernel with the I9000UGK4 modem.
My Bluetooth connects to my Ford Sync in my truck but disconnects the phone part of the connection after a minute and only keeps the music side. It also automatically starts the music player every time.
This is a new problem for me. Previously the WiFi seemed to have an issue and when I drove away from my house and lost the WiFi signal the Bluetooth would disconnect also. That was on Cognition. I could prevent that by turning off the WiFi before starting the truck.
My understanding is the I9000 modems sometimes have issues with Bluetooth static vs. HSUPA? I need the Bluetooth more than the data speed.
I ran the Firebird 2 kernel and Cognition 3 and the bluetooth static was so bad I couldn't use it at all.
Are there any Sync users running a similar setup that they like and that works with the Bluetooth?
Should I just flash a different modem or try a different kernel? My suspicion is its the I9000 based kernels but most of the custom kernels seem to be based on the I9000.
I use ford sync. I am using jk4 modem. I am not on perception and I am not using firebird. I have no issues with connection. So, if it means anything it is not the modem. I have been on jpy roms without bluetooth issues, and I am currently on andromeda which is an armani port. No issues.
Maybe try a different kernel although I am unsure why that would make a difference. I would suggest hardcores.
I had these issues when I was on stock 2.1. Sometimes it even used to reboot my phone.
I am Maxima SYNC by the way, but both should be similar. Now I am 2.2.1 based ROMs and able to talk on phone properly.
Something u could try:
1. Delete all bluetooth profiles from ur phone.
2. Delete the phone profile from ur car.
3. Restart ur phone and connect it fresh.
This resolved the issue I once had when on a 2.2 ROM.
Cool. I will try the complete Bluetooth deletes ( I have done them but not both during the same flash or re-pare ) and if that doesn't work I will try the ROMs you both are running to see if that helps.
Thanks for the help.
OK. So just in case someone else has this issue and uses the search function.....
Turn off the Bluetooth audio input selection under the media input area of Sync before trying to pair your phone.
It works fine to go back and select Bluetooth audio after you have started and paired for a bit, but if Bluetooth audio in is selected when you first start your vehicle it will kick off the phone part and only keep the music player connected.
It also automatically opens the music player on the phone and starts playing the last track. Which I would imagine will effect battery life if you have your phone in your pocket and don't notice it.
Not sure if this was happening with other Kernels and ROMs as I only noticed it with this one.
I've never had a problem with any rom not being able to play through bluetooth media on my gf's focus. If you go to the bluetooth options on your phone, hold your finger down the sync connection you can select phone, media and connect. Select phone and media if you want both to be available.
Go to the menu for sync in your truck, I think it's under player settings or something similar, but there's an option for autoplay on or off. Obviously, if it's set to off it won't automatically play your music.
Right now I'm on Serendipity 4.1, Firebird 2 kernel and jl2 modem with no problems. I've also used Cognition roms, and Perception roms, never had any of the problems you're experiencing.
I had a Sync-enabled rental car last week, and noticed it wouldn't stay connected if say for instance I left the car with the phone and still had BT enabled, then came back to the car and tried to just let it auto rejoin. I found everything went smooth if I disabled BT when leaving the car, and reenabled coming back.

It has to be set to your phone as primary to auto connect.
I have had Ford Sync disconnect problem ever since I got captivate in November. Bluetooth randomly disconnects. Both cog 2.3b6 and 2.3b8 gave me problem, although 2.3b8 works better overall. I didn't try latest cognition roms yet.... I have a tasker that turns off wifi automatically when bluetooth is connected -- it improves things, but still I get disconnects every now and then.
I really hope to find a permanent solution to this. This is the most annoying problem with my phone right now....
I had serious disconnect issues too until I did something similar to what someone else already posted.
1. On phone, unpair Sync
2. In Sync, perform master reset (system settings>advanced>master reset) NOTE: This will lose all of your settings
3. Reboot phone
4. Pair phone and Sync. Allow Sync to download phonebook. (If this disconnects, restart at step 1)
5. I always disable automatic downloading of the phonebook and autoplay of bluetooth audio.
Once I get a successful phonebook download with no disconnect, I will not have any more issues with bluetooth.
Hey there fellows,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S I9000 that I've been using since Froyo. As an accesory, I've always used the Motorola S9-HD A2DP headset to listen to music and take calls wireless.
The thing is that ever since I've started flashing GingerBread ROMs (stock), it started to mess up.
Let's begin to enumerate the issues:
1) After having the device paired, simple turning the headset on wouldn't connect to the phone (as it worked before 100%)
2) With the headset turned on, if I go to the Bluetooth menu on the phone and "click" to connect, it would say connecting and one of this things would happen:
- "Connecting..." would display forever until I shut the BT radio off
- It would connect and immediately disconnect, even sometimes the headset shuts down too!
- It would connect to one of the profiles: the audio one or the headset one, but not both
- 1 out of 50 times it would connect to the audio profile online and finally be able to play music through them
3) While the headset is playing music (i.e. connected), I turn it off, and sometimes Android keeps showing the icon as connected, for like 10 minutes, until it eventually times out
As you might guess, I've been searching since this arised for a solution, comment, similar behavior reported from other users, etc, without luck; neither here at XDA, Google or other related forums. I've found some *similar* stuff like car audios disconnecting but finally they fixed them or were some issues with the car app or something, unrelated to this.
This started happening ever since the first GingerBread I've flashed; now I'm on stock JVS and the same thing still goes on. I've tried before flashing any kernels (as stock as it gets) and this happens too. I've tried after flashing pretty much every kernel (to see if they somehow fixed this) and the problem persisted.
Let me be clear the the headset works great; if I use it with another phone (Nokia) it doesn't present any of these issues; neither did here before GingerBread!
So far, the only remotely possibility to use it fine and that works 95% of the times is:
1) Erase the headset memory of paired devices
2) Erase the phone memory of paired devices
3) Pair the device
As you can imagine too, doing this EVERY TIME I want to use the headset is an awful lot of pain!
Well, thanks for your time and for reading so far... any kind of pointer, advices, consolation that you can provide would be more than thanked for!
Best regards,
Anyone?
sorry no solutions from me.....but I did incur a similar situation when I flash jvq stock (music player would stop playing music and make bootanimation sounds)before flashing over to re by darky.....since being on darkys the problem has gone.maybe try a custom rom!!!

That's a good thing I didn't try! I refrained from flashing a Darky because all the "extra" steps involved besides directly flashing the files from Odin and also the auto voodoo lagfix kernel that converts unless you put the files to NOT to on some directory... plus the "bloated" experience over a stock ROM.
I think I should try one though, and also think that the BT should work OK in stock too! First I'd like to confirm if it's a "known" issue with the Ginger ROMs or not...
Anyway, thanks for your advice, might flash Darky soon!
its amazingly easy to do...just follow the guides to the word.....

I use a bluetooth headset all day and the issue I've had with all of the Rom's I've tried is chronic bluetooth crashing. In the middle of the call, when I'm not on the call, etc., I get the annoying alert "Phone has disconnected" often followed a brief time later with "phone has reconnected."
I have no idea what's causing this and I've used multiple bluetooth headsets and even car connections. This has happened with Lineage, Havok, ResurrectionRemi, Bliss, and all of the others I've tried, even with no other apps installed. I've also used multiple Galaxy S5 devices (I have three of them) and they all suffer this problem.
Is there an improved BT radio or something else that can be flashed independently to solve this problem?
I'd offer a bounty if I could to help me solve the problem but I am not sure if that's allowed on this forum.
No love here?
can you try this build? https://luis-builds.de/downloads/lineageos/cr/Samsung_Galaxy_S5_(klte)/
