anybody seen any 2708 sense ROMs yet?
Im currently running the latest sparksmod which is awesome and fast as hell
BUT, i miss sense.
im even willing to give up froyo and go back to eclair.
im also not real clear on the steps (kernel/radio/SPL) i would need to take to get backto having a G1 that can run sense.
any insight would be awesome.
I personally have not seen any SENSE roms for the 2708 kernel. That does not mean that they do not exist tho.
As far as removing the 2708 radio/SPL, you can go back to the Danger/Death SPL and proper radio through recovery. Radio first, then SPL, then ROM and gApps.
Most ROMS already have the needed kernel included...It should be posted otherwise
2708 Sense ROM with MTD
the dev is kind of busy with college atm so there haven't been done much work for 2 weeks now. But it is pretty up to date, fast and stable
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900765
There is an ongoing project here.
For now there is an old 2708 kernel with +8mb ram (not14) that is compatible with old rom (1.5 and 1.6, so 1.5 sense rom)

i have been running cyanogens roms since i rooted my g1. there are so many roms out there and i would like to try some different ones but i have no idea where to start. im into features and looks. any recommendations? TY
1st choice should be the version: eclair or donut?
on donut i would recommend CSDI as it was the best looking rom and its fast to. dwang worked even better for me but there is no eyecandy
atm i use cyanogen 5. its ok but i didnt tried another eclair rom yet so i have no comparison
im on eclair right now with CM5.0.7 test 3
Best of both worlds:
Super E for Eclair
and
Super D for Donut
Theme options for both those Roms are very high.
Try either one and you will recognize this fact.
After copious experimentation with FroYo roms, the 2708 radio, and various other things, I've settled on running the last version of CM4 on my G1. But I would like to flash a more recent kernel to support (among other things) overclocking. What's the most recent kernel I can flash on the 2302 radio and CM4?
Thanks!
I would love this too, I have the new SPL and radio but the speed of even the best Froyo and Gingerbread ROMs just can't match Donut on the G1. I'd like to go back to ZXDonut but am not sure what will happen if I flash it without a 2708 kernel to go with it.

We are asking slightly different questions, but I think I have an answer to yours. See this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9608529&postcount=966
I use ezterry's kernel (linked in the post above) on enom's 1.6
I've had no issues with it, and my G1 definitely likes running donut much better than anything else I've tried.
Are you using 2303 or 2708 on your phone? That kernel linked above has 2708 in the filename and I'm afraid to flash it on a 2303 radio and rom.
Is there a stock eclair rom for the G1? Stock as in no themes applied, no configurations, but rooted though.
I want to stay eclair and stock as possible.
Thanks
unless you count CM roms as "stock" its pretty much stock if you dont mess with CM settings.... and its smooth as heck... here is the link http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/...magic-mean-lean-pastry-machine-v508-06192010/
eclair was never officially released for the dream/sapphire platform.
Cyanogen (as indicated) did make a working port.. the problem was there was a bug that caused yaffs problems in CM5.0.8, as well as a text display bug.
Thus why when I made the 2708+ port of cm5.0.8 I included some fixes:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/11435-old-stable-cm-508-2708-port/
if you don't have the new radio 2708+ radio try flashing the port above followed by the ebi0 port of the kernel at .. I think that will work but I've not tested it :/

This gave me a nice increase in speed and bit more battery life after upgrading and using the 2708+ port of cm5.0.8.
I don't really use my phone for much besides texting and listening to music. I was wondering if you guys could recommend a ROM that would be good for me? I think I'd just want the lightest, best battery life ROM. I've never really dipped too deep into this sort of stuff, so browsing threads in the development section isn't really getting me anywhere.
If any of this info helps, this is what I've currently got on my phone (T-Mobile G1):
Biffmod 2.1
Dream PVT 32b Ship S-On
1.33.0013d SPL
2.22.27.08 Radio
RA-dream-v1.7.0 Recovery
Thanks for any help in advance.
I believe that biffmod is one of the fastest, cleanest, and most stable roms around. If you want anything faster, you would have to revert back to android 1.6. Either stock or by a dev here. However, I think biffmod fits the bill perfectly.

theres ezgingerbread, and ezterry's froyo aosp
both light and stable
There is also SuperAosp 6.4. To me it's stable enough. It also run fast for me.
i agree with maximo360. ezgingerbread, ezterry froyo ota, xillius donut if you dont mind android version. superbad cm5 is good also. ads magpie is like ezgingerbread.

+1 to all the above posters, to really get speed out of the G1, you must revert to 1.6 to get the best experience, you will be very happy with that. Gingerbread is pushing it if you want to get the best speed, froyo might be a go since it does feature JIT to increase speed, same goes for ginger...But Ginger is very heavy on older devices, so I would say stick with donut, when I used the G1 I stuck with Enom's donut ROM or Ben bauncher[is that how you spell it?], I don't know of the other donut builds but those two are my top choices for anyone.
Donut or Froyo...
Hi,if you want everything to work without troubles and stable flash HtClay fastest 3.0.3 or Froyo by Lazslo with Farmatito kernel... Š•verything works brilinat and batery life is long
Hello!
Sometime ago I started reading some threads about Sense ROMs for Dream.
Today, I got a HTC Dream G1 but I don't know where to start.
The ROM will be http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1107943 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265264 (the second one is better I suppose but please tell if you know any better REAL Sense ROM).
My G1 has RA-dream-v1.7.0 recovery and CM6 now installed. I don't know if it is 32b or not and if it is DREA110 or 100. Radio is 35.50S.20.17H_2.22.19.26I. And it has the DeathSPL.
Do I need to flash modded MTD recovery? And what swap and ext4 partitions sizes will be the best for me?
Make sure you have the current radio/SPL, if not update it.
Then...
Do nanobackup, and wipe then flash the rom and all the required files.
Then you are good to go.
Could you please give me links to the radio and spl you mean? Is it safe to flash them over my current setup?
Which one of the above ROMs is better for everyday use?

Just follow the instruction from here >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831139&highlight=2708
As far as for ROM goes, if you like Froyo build, I would recommend either DreamTeam Froyo (stock looks) or Froyo Melt (DT Froyo with Custom Themes to select from)
for CyanogenMod flavors, I recommended BananaBread or NameLess Froyo.
If you wants Sense ROM then any of them will do.
