SBF Question - Droid X Android Development

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I was having problems with Liberty rom and GPS(no fault to them, I loved the rom), and so I decided to give the maderstcok340.zip a shot, before re flashing liberty. It didn't work and my phone was no longer bootable. So then I tried using the VRZ_MB810_2.3.32_1FF_01.sbf (I was on .34 before hand but I saw p3droid say they are compatible). Now the phone starts to boot, I get the white circle M and the phone looks like its going to boot, and the Liberty boot animation still comes up? I dont get why after a full SBF which completed successfully that the liberty boot animation comes up. Now if that was the only problem I wouldn't care but the phone still won't boot.
So I am looking for ideas? What should I try next?

Cancel this. I am a moron and forgot to go into the stock boot loader and factory reset after SBFing.

Can someone help me? I am so lost

I've been having trouble with my Vibrant and with T-Mobile in limbo I picked up a N1 off ebay to hold me over. This thing is driving me insane!
The phone came with CM7 installed on it, but the person that shipped it to me didn't erase any of there stuff so I figured I would flash a fresh image on the phone to take care of things. I've flashed my Vibrant a dozen or so times and never had an issue. Flashed the N1 and it comes up with an X made of 4 different colored lines and a little lock at the bottom. I know some roms take a while to load so I let it sit for an hour. Nothing.
Since I've been trying everything I can find out how to recover the phone including all of the guides on the wiki. I'm at my wits end at this point. I can't get into clockwork at all on the phone. It gets stuck in the bootloader and if I select recovery it just takes me back.
I've got droid explorer running, and the phone shows up, but it doesn't show anything on the phone, no folders or files and won't let me load anything on to it. (it says it is, but then stays blank) I have no clue what to do at this point short of taking a sledge hammer to it. (obviously I'm posting this as I consider that to be plan B)
I don't need anything special, I just want a working phone. Is that really so much to ask for?
If ur Phone is running( means u can boot) try flashing cwr from rom manager and flash the rom again or try to hard reset the phone and then see ?
Firstly, I would start of by being more specific about what you have tried.
If you really have tried "everything", then there's nothing anyone can do for you.
I suspect you haven't tried "everything"...?

I'm sure I haven't, just what I found in the wiki
I tried the PASSIMG.ZIP and it failed
I tried Amon_Ra's Recovery and the only way I can get it to do anything is to tell it to flash in droid explorer and it just reboots and gets stuck. Now nothing is showing up file wise in droid explorer and I can't transfer the image onto the root.
When I could get into clockwork I tried flashing different roms but it would just go to a screen with the clockwork logo and get stuck.

I can turn it on to the screen with the multicolored X or the bootloader, that's it. How do I do a hard reset?

in the bootloader I think (dont take my rookie rooting words too serious) theres a hard reset menu under recovery. it will take you to another x and press volume up and power for the menu to pop up.
try fastboot a recovery image (either Amon Ra or CWM) and see if you can get back to recovery after that.
Well I'm assuming you already have a custom recovery since it came with CM and you've, as you said, flashed it (what exactly do you mean by that by the way? flashed another rom?). So all I can recommend is that you wipe a few times and try flashing a few different roms and hopefully one will boot. Not the best advice in the world but its always worked for me before and my N1 and my DEXT before hand when I've messed them up!
You still did not say what you flashed to your phone.
Anyways follow the restore to stock guide.
I don't know what this Droid manager thing is but don't use it. Install the sdk.....

Bionic boot looping ice cream sandwich boot animation

My bionic is boot looping the ice cream sandwich boot animation. I had everything running fine and when i did a nandroiod backup all of a sudden it started boot looping. I have followed the directions for the rsd lite fix and also the r3l3as3d root one click fix. Both when ran said that they installed okay and should be fine but when i start it up it is still boot looping. Can someone please help. even after running them I still don't have the stock boot animation I still have the ice cream sandwich and I am still boot looping. I followed all of these direction http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...70-r3l3as3droot-43v3r-root-bionic-v2-1-a.html and on the screen it said that they installed okay and should work. and like I said I followed all the direction on this site as well http://rootzwiki.com/topic/4603-fxz-fastboot-recovery/ and it says it worked but after rebooting I find out it did not. can someone please help. I can boot into fast boot (obviously) and the stock recovery but nothing I have tried so far seems to fix this issue and now I am lost and stuck boot looping an ice cream sandwich style boot animation ( which has been working fine for weeks until i just did this last nandroid backup and for some reason after that nothing but boot loops.
Try this fix:
droidforums.net/forum/droid-bionic-hacks/173870-r3l3as3droot-43v3r-root-bionic-v2-1-a.html
It worked for my Bionic when I got stuck in a bootloop. You might try clearing your dalvik cache before you do anything else though.
I have the same issue!!!
If you're looking to wipe down your phone and start from scratch you should really be seeking out the full 700MB FXZ file to use with RSD Lite. That'll bust through any mods you may have put in that have wrecked your phone.
I already did.

I had similar issues that seemed to be caused from restoring a nandroid after doing the 5.7 update, however my results were the complete opposite of yours, if you have insurance like most i'd go pay the hundred bucks and act distraught that it's now at the bottom of a lake or river after a canoe capsize.
Also try option 4 vs 1 or vice versa on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1279825
Lucky!
I'd rather be stuck in a never ending ICS boot loop than have fully functional GB any day!
Just curious, did you try to perform a factory reset immediately after the fxz? If not, I would do another fxz and when the phone reboots, pull the battery, enter stock recovery and perform a factory reset. Good luck, hope you get it going.
HELP!!
Hey Everyone. I had UNL3ASH3D v1.4 on my bionic, got bored and saw the Shifter base rom and wanted to flash Shift3r ICS blurry v2.3.1....installed shifter base.zip...booted fine...backed up, factory restored, wiped cache, installed Shift3r ICS blurry from sd. Now im in a boot loop =(.
I Held Power and up/down got into the recovery, but it wont access my sd card, and wont boot up a clockwork backup from a while ago. Please help....!
fxz it with rsd lite, u just soft bricked it.
Also i'm almost positive that those themes specifically say for 2.0+ as noted by this warning in in the post "THIS IS THE TH3ORY CR3AM IC3 CR3AM SANDWICH ADD-ON FOR [R3]BLURR3D V2.0PBX", so fxz, forever root, optional on 5.7 upgrade and flash [R3]BLURR3D V2.0PBX base rom re-apply theme
In the end I just had to send it back to Motorola for a new one. I just never mentioned it was rooted so it was still covered under warranty since I technically unrooted it before i sent it back even though it wont stop boot looping. SO I got my new Bionic the other day and I am happy and re-rooted again, and the best part is I didn't have to pay for the insurance replacement phone.
to be or not to be. a question, or a way of living?
I will have to admit that I, at one time, would proceed with the same recourse. But I've been around the block a time or two now, and have come to realize how my actions, large AND small, greatly affect others.
If I do something to VOID my warranty, I own up to it.
Just sayin'

[Q] Completely stock device refuses to boot

Firstly, this device has never been rooted or had anything flashed to it. It is completely stock.
My step-daughter has been having issues with her Droid 4. About a month back or so, she started noticing that it wouldn't boot. It would flash the Motorola logo, and then the screen would just hang on the bootanimation. Eventually if we rebooted (power+vol down) enough times it would boot up.
Last night however, this happened again and it would not boot at all. I tried rebooting many times and it would never get past the bootanimation. After about 20 or so reboots I figured it was time for a Factory Reset. After the reset however, it wouldn't even display the bootanimation. It would still display the Motorola splash screen, but after that the screen would just go black with the display is still on. I Factory Reset several more times and nothing. Eventually after a number of times rebooting, it finally booted up. Well that was yesterday. Today she had to reboot it and it wouldn't boot again. Would just hang on a black screen.
I'm about ready to send it back since it's still under warranty, but figured I would check here to see if any of the amazing XDA guru's had experienced this and found a solution. I searched Google and this forum and didn't really see anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Only other I can think to do would be to flash the fastboot files. A factory reset basically just wipes data while fastbooting it should reset the system itself to complete bone stock. You can do this using rsdlite or download a utility like jsnweitzel's ICS Only Utility in the Dev section.
Really sounds like a hardware issue to me since it's not rooted or anything but still might be worth a shot.

Thank you very much for the quick reply. I've downloaded jsnweitzel's ICS Only Utility and am charging up the phones battery so I can use it.
Just a quick question before I do this. I'm assuming that running the restore through ICS Only Utility is flashing a stock system image. That image is not rooted is it? Not that I would typically care, but if I do have to bring it back to Verizon I don't want them hassling me for rooting the device.

Keeps restarting for no reason - rooted

I rebooted my phone to install a font and now it continues to turn on (HTC logo) and then restart. Tried to get into recovery and it just exits...
I had my phone off at night and turned it on - read a few text messages - and went to replace the ****ty font I installed yesterday.
Just looping.
Any help?
Can't even turn it off lol - I would need to go into bootloader and click power down. It is odd - I didn't do anything and it started up perfectly before 5 minutes I did the fonts.

I flashed the recovery with CWM and installed Android Revolution HD 6.1
I was just wondering if it was safe to re-flash the recovery again to see if it would work. I don't want to screw up this phone lol.
EDIT: Got it. Reflashed the recovery and had to reflash the ROM.
I don't know why a simple font change would screw ALL of that up. I don't want to keep flashing this ROM lol it has been about 4 times now.

You need to reflash what ever was on it. Hopefully you made a backup if not and were on stock find the correct nandroid back or RUU for your phone and flash that. You can also try doing a factory reset that may bring it back.
agreed...try to re-flash everything to stock than go from there to find what is causing the problem.

[Q] Stuck on boot animation after flashing Stock ROM

Alright, here's the story. I needed to unlock my phone, so I looked up a few guides. I found one that I like and was checking to see if the ROM I had installed would allow me to enter in my unlock code after I got it, unfortunately it wouldn't. So I decided to flash the stock ROM for my phone. Odin did it's job, and everything seemed to go alright, but after Odin finished up, the phone still remained in the boot screen. I let it sit for a while, and it continued on for about half an hour. I restarted it, went to go do some things. I came back hoping that my problem would be solved, but nope, still a looping boot animation. Has anyone else had this problem, or have some idea on how I might work around this?

happened to me while doing something stupid to my kernel... believe me it is impossible to fix.
i took it to my ISP they said its liquid damage but it wasnt i knew... they said BER(beyond economic repair)
so i took it to samsung and collected it after 10-15 days. from the looks of things they changed my motherboard.
you can return it even if warranty is void(they cannot tell if its void or not)
mine only blinked when i tried recovery, download or charge and showed logo when i turn on only.
Hi There,
You will need to enter the Recovery Mode and Have a Factory Reset and Wipe Dalvik cache. If the device doesnt enter recovery you can force it to do so using JIGG or Heidmall. After wiping if still no progress. You should check whether you have flashed the correct stock rom according to your Country.
