Hi people. By one mistake i've flashed a ROM to Samsung Galaxy SII on Samsung Galaxy Note. Now I need to recover it because I've not maked a backup (I know that was an big mistake). In Samsung Galaxy S I usually flash a good kernel with Odin and after that I flash a good ROM and it make the phone work with the old data but it don't was the binary counter like Samsung Galaxy Note. If I can't recover it without ODIN i think that I can buy a USB JIG for Note and put the binary counter to zero.
Any idea about what can I do?
thanks

OK, as long as you can get into Download Mode, we'll get you out of trouble.
Download this file.
Password : samfirmware.com
Extract the files from the zip in a folder on your PC. This is the Rom you're going to flash.
Then download Odin if you don't have it.
Then go to this post and follow the instructions to the letter. That's an easy guide for flashing Roms using Odin, with pictures and all. Your Rom belongs to
- If your downloaded ROM contains single file
part of instructions.
After flashing your phone, it will reboot. Sometimes your Note can get stuck in a bootloop at this point. If it happens, don't panic. Pull out your battery, wait for a bit, put it back. Put your phone into Recovery mode by pressing
Volume Up + Home + Power
Once in recovery, do a factory reset and reboot. Everything should be fine.
Once all this is done, you'll have a stock Rom. If you want to root it, tell me, and I'll walk you through.
Hope this helps.

When flashing SGSII Rom on Note you have ruined your bootloader, so I'm afraid there's no way you are going to get your old Rom back, sorry.

I realize what your saying here but the general consensus seems to be that separate flashing of various parts of the phone like a bootloader, radio, kernel, and ROM as individual items might not be a viable option on the Galaxy Note.

what rom are you on? If ics then flash a safe kernel using odin and boot into recovery mode CWM and do a nandroid backup. this will secure all your apps and data.. then do a data factory reset and get the phone working

Yo, any change you can share that flashable speedmod?
Because I'm having the same issue, although I followed the steps on ODIN. It just doesnt want to finalize the process.

Are you really sure you have the identical situation here? Did you really flash a S2-Rom on your Galaxy Note?
If not open a new thread in Q&A and describe exactly what you did and what error messages you get in Odin.
Hi
I installed twrp recovery and then cm10.1 to test it. After a while i decided to go back to stock. Instead of using the backup i made i decided to flash official stock using odin but i only get bootloop.
What i did:
1-Changed cable
2-Removed battery
3-Removed sim/memory card
4-Flashed "param_I8190.tar"
5-Flashed pre rooted firmware 4.1.2 that i always used
6-Flashed stock, untouch 4.1.2
7-Flashed stock, untouch 4.1.1
8-Combitanion of keys does not work for recovery, only works for download mode. I can not enter into recovery mode.
9-My windows no longer recognizes my phone. Every time i plug in i get a message error.
Nothing worked. How to solve this? Thanks
Install the drivers from this tool and when you plug your phone in you have to go into windows device manager and manually install the driver you received from the tool. Its a bit tricky.

You need to do a factory reset, or the stock rom will go into boot loop.
Install the 3 button combo for recovery (you'll find the patch on the forum), start in recovery and wipe cache / data.
I used custom rom before and then wanted to reset flash counter using Triangle Away. I installed stock rom, used custom kernel, then triangle away and then flashed stock rom again.
All went fine and flash counter is showing "NO" and firmware is Samsung Official but sometimes randomly System Status in download mode and in Android settings shows Custom. Then if i reboot it shows Normal. Why is this happening and what should I do to make it always show Normal?

Try to root your phone, download another firmware, and flash it with Mobile Odin Pro.
Triangle Away is include inside Mobile Odin flashing, should solve your problem even if didn't work when you did it.
FACTORY RESET settings/backup and reset/Factory data reset will work, no need to flash or root. keep in mind this will wipe your internal storage and you will need to download and reinstall all of your applications

I tried Factory Reset but it still sometimes shows System Status: Custom and reboot usually changes it to Normal.
It seems someone else has had a similar problem with i9300: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1986907
Do you think this is Android related problem or is there somekind of fix out there?
Okay have you tried to use Kies? That is the official way to update your phone. Either Kies or ota. Try this. Use kies upgrade and initialization. If it says your ROM is not supported restart kies and put your phone in download mode before connecting it to PC. Enter serial no and model number into kies.then while phone is in download mode . connect it to PC. This should begin the upgrade process. After it finishes, factory reset phone. Let me know if that doesn't work

Okay, I tried wipe data/cache, flashing older stock rom, cf-autoroot, triangle away, then flashing newer stock rom using KIES and wipe data/cache again. Still same problem, sometimes system status is Modified and sometimes Normal. This is so weird problem...
First flash with kies and do a factory reset after. You should not be rooted after using kies. Do not restore applications from any previous backup. Only install applications manually. Do not restore data either .start fresh. wipe external sd card. Do not freeze or uninstall any system applications. I recently uninstalled "chat on" and got a system modified status that only went away after reflashing my rom. Dont sideload apps . Dont check off unknown sources under security. If that doesnt work I really don't know any thing else.stock rom kernel firmware apps all from playstore no root apps.

I found another thread where someone has had same kind of problem and he had not done ANY modifications to the phone: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2022690
It still said Custom on System Status. I'm starting to believe that there is something wrong with Android that makes System Status randomly show Custom even if no modifications has been done.
i read the link you posted. i would try to either wipe the sd card or remove it just to eliminate that being the issue. also i would suggest you make sure unknown sources is not ticked. and most importantly that you do not batch restore apps. especially app data. one question i have is do you encrypt your file system? for security? and is your rom carrier branded. I know all of the instrucions and questions seem like a tall order but this is how to troubleshoot by process of elimination what is causing the custom status. i hope you get this worked out...
I really appreciate your help ashraf sharif. I just wouldn't like to install all my apps again (did it few times already). I googled the issue more and some people believe Modified status is related to External SD card somehow:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=41540
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-note-2-rooting-roms-hacks/277639-factory-reset-device-status-modfied.html
So i might give up with this issue. It sometimes says Normal and occasionally Modified but the good thing is the phone is working fine
I Titanium Back up and when mine shows as modified I use it to clear the cache then reboot and it reverts to normal.
The OP prefers to not be rooted so tb wont work. Myself am rooted and always have normal status.

I used Custom roms before but wanted to flash everything back to Stock and Official. I flashed Stock rom and then Custom kernel so i could use Triangle Away to reset the Custom flash counter in Download Mode. Then after using Triangle Away i flashed Stock Rom. So my intention was to make everything on the phone Stock/Official again.
Does your phone say modified when you take out the external sd card? You can simply unmount it shut down the phone and then remove it just to make see if maybe that is the issue. If it is whats causing the modified status then just backup whatever files you want to keep. And then format the card. You should be good to go

Try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476353 to get back to stock and start over.
Also, usb will still work in download mode (follow instructions in thread). If you have trouble getting your device recognized in ODIN then try a different USB slot. That solves 90% of the problems with ODIN.

So I downloaded those files and went through that process of installing so what I should do is odin those files then I should be able to hit vol down and powrr to get into ss since it doesn't pop up like safestrap usually does? Because all I see is the note 3 boot screen not the ss before that
You need to restore back to stock using the link i posted earlier.
Then root using kingo.
Install custom safestrap apk.
Install recovery in safestrap app.
Manually reboot into download mode.
Use ODIN and flash 'togetsafestap'.
Reboot and select recovery at startup.
Wipe everything except 'ext sd card'.
Install custom rom ( I recommend Knoxdroid 4.0 + Bobcat theme)
Clear dalvik and cache.
Reboot into download mode.
Use ODIN to flash 'togetbooting'.
Reboot into system.
Enjoy.

As I said, phone is restarting every minute, it cannot enter recovery mode by using 3 buttons. I've tried hard resetting, but whenever I press the button to erase it, it either does nothing or it restarts again. Also whenever I change some of the settings they revert after a restart. I've tried flashing some rooted roms with odin, and it said "pass" but phone still remained the same. I've tried flashing pit files, the three button recovery and all, but still nothing did any good... Is there any way I can fix this? Is there any way to find stock official images and install them without odin, like LG's software update kdz, or HTC official installer files? Is the phone just dead? Please help guys!

Try to install twrp from novafusion by odin without checked 'restart phone'. Then pool out battery, put inside and go to recovery mode. Choose wipe, advanced wipe, choose everything without SdCard and slide button. Next turn off phone.
After this turn on download mode and install stock rom by odin.
If it not help, you have bricked phone.
Try any method but i dont know why you do something with pit file. Its not recommended to do wth this if its not necesary.

I don't think pit file thing did anything because phone just reverted back. By the way phone is running stock it isn't rooted. Shouldn't it be rooted for custom recoveries?

Answered on your question, yes. Because you need full access to operations on your phone. Btw, when you instal twrp and in some part of this recovery you want leave and restart, twrp ask you, did you want root your rom (its clue).
The easiest way to root your stock rom, find thread with prerooted stock rom to install by odin. Its the easiest way.
