Selling my NC - Nook Color General

I'm selling my NC and the guy wants it rooted. Whats the best way for me to do this since I have to have a BN account before I can root and then a gmail/youtube account when it starts up.

You'll have to have him create a BN.com account first. Register the NC to his account, make sure the NC is running the latest firmware before the root, then root.

Tell him to root it himself

Doesn't he have to have a gmail account and link it with youtube as well?

create an account on bn.com and just make put "hisname@nook.com" and make up some password for it. Then register it, root it, and tell him to log into bn.com and change the info to his own personal stuff.

Paid Apps and ROM update..... everything lost???

Hi everyone,
just wondering as I did my first order (BlueEx) for my Dream machine.
What happens if I format my device (install another cooked rom)? do I lost my application? do I download it again for free as I have the same gmail account? is there any way of grabing my apk install file?
thanks for your help, sure it's just 1.4€ for the moment, but if I went for documents2go or any other more expensive app (wisepilot....), I would not format my device anymore!
paid apps can be downloaded from the market again at no cost, but yes you will have to reinstall everything.
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to get your paid apps. moved from original gmail account to another gmail account. (Going to delete original account) Thanks.
You can pull the app off of your device using adb pull. I believe some backup apps can also backup apk files onto sdcard. One thing to note is that if you reinstall your own backup from a file rather than the market, you will not be able to get updates from the market. Only apps installed using the market app will show up on the Downloaded list (and thus be updatable without a repurchase).
Also, if the app in question is a protected app (not all paid apps are) then you will need root to pull it out of app-protected.
I wonder if there isn't some way to transfer your Market app licenses from one gmail account to another. You might have to contact Android Market support about it.

I figured it out, first you wipe in Recovery then Reboot, log into original Gmail account (The one with your purchased Apps.) go into Market and redownload your purchased Apps., now get out of Market and go to Settings/Applications/Manage applications, scroll down till you get to Google Apps, click on that and press Clear data now Reboot and go back to Market and it'll ask you to log in again, log in with new Gmail account and all your stuff will sync, Contacts ect... and after a few minutes your purchased Apps. will show up in My downloads.

What can I do now? Any ideas?

Getting rid of password on the default galaxy mail app?

I just set up an exchange account on the default galaxy mail app. However, it would not let see my mail until I added a password. Now every time i wake the phone from sleep i have to put in a password. How do i get rid of this while still being able to access my mail.
Thanks
I'm not sure what you've exactly done but, why you don't deactivate or delete the exchange account and only use the normal account from the email app?
Or explain a bit more what's the prob except the password requestions...
whoever is running your exchange system has made a password mandatory.
You can't access email via activesync (exchange) without having that password.
hi rocketpaul,
you can use Insanity hacked email app..so you will not get password policy...
if you are will to use your custom ROM,move email.apk to system\app\ and flash. else with rooted account you can replace email application.

ive tried, it says apk not installed
Sorry my fold, I didn't read exactly
It's a system aplication which replace the original, so you've to replace it!
1) First download a file Manager (f.ex. Root Explorer)
2) Find the downloaded file under "internel sd"
3) Go back and Choose "System" and then "App"
4) Here you put it in and say yes for the confirm to replace
PS: If it doesn't allow to replace a file you've to change the system
-> at top off the app you can change from r/o to f/w

[Q] CyanogenMod 9 - remove account

I just flashed CyanogenMod 9 on my Touchpad and am loving it. I added one google account to it at first, which was great b/c it downloaded all the apps on my RAZR. But I want to remove the account because my daughter uses the Touchpad and I don't want her to have access to my gmail and talk, etc. (I am a newbie so I used the stable CyanogenMod, not the nightly.) I tried to go to remove account but it is grayed out and I can't figure out a work-around.
Any insights?
Thanks!

Try adding another account (make a new Gmail account). Once that's done, you should be able to remove the other one. Let her use this one as her email account, I'm sure she'll like that......
Or you could install an app protector and also switch off sync for that email so it doesn't receive notifications
The best app I have come across for this scenario is an app called switchme. It acts like how your computer would if you had two user account on there. Once you install it, you can create a new profile. Selecting it will reboot your device and start up as a clean ROM with no market apps and no google account linked to it. You can then add her google account to that profile (if she has one) and she can sync all her own stuff, not interfering with yours. You can then switch between profiles at will. Its an awesome app.
Here's a thread link:

thanks but....
Thanks. I did add another account but I cannot remove mine. Looks like cyanogen doesn't have that enabled (because I was able to do that on my other daughter's Xoom when it was running gingerbread.
I would prefer not creating a new profile completely because then I'd lose all the apps that I've installed, like I did on the Xoom. I was able to turn notifications to my gmail account off but don't want her (or my ex!) to have access to my gmail.
Thanks.
Unfortunately this is an android issue. You can't remove the initial account you use without wiping data and starting over.

hmm, did not know that. So if that is the case, the OP should reset the device, and start it with a different gmail account for his daughter. Then he can add his regular gmail account afterward, install the apps he wants, and then remove the account when complete.
Or maybe use titanium backup to backup his current apps now. do a factory reset, then setup with a new gmail account, install TB on the new account, and then restore the old apps.
I still say the app I linked to is a good thing to get for his situation. Its two accounts running side by side and each person can log into their own account with their own apps and wont have access to each others. You can even set a password just like on a computer.
1. Download "Root Explorer" from Android Market
2. Explore to /data/system/ and find this file : accounts.db
3. Delete that file (accounts.db)
4. Reboot your Android device.
5. Voilà…you can register another account.

Go to Settings-> Accounts -> choose your account. When the Sync options appear, click on the 3 small dots on top right corner. Select remove account.

Found this post via a google search. Two years down the road from the post- this worked for me. I used TWRP and found
the file in something like /data/system/users/0 or something similar (YMMV). But it worked for me.

[Q] Will Erase & Deregister kill Google Play?

I'm thinking of selling my HD+ on ebay, but I want to sell it with Google Play intact and working as a value add. I no longer have root since the last update, but I don't care about that, since I can still install and update apps without any problems. But will erasing and deregistering disable Play and the ability to install apps? Also, would there be anything else I needed to do to eliminate personal information?
Thanks

Yes, do an erase and deregister. That will clean your login info and media files and release the device from your B&N account on their servers. Then get my CWM from my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature and boot to it. Flash the gapps + extras zip. That will put Play Store on it but it will not be registered with Google. Then the new user can register with B&N and once booted, register with Google Play Store.
Edit: Do the disable root too. You do not need to do it for root removal since the erase and deregister does that. But it adds zeam which is necessary if you want them to see Play Store.

[Q] Request: Modified email APK for bypassing Exchange security?

Anybody have a modified EMAIL apk that bypasses Exchange security permissions? This needs to work on the Note4.
Is there an easy way to modify the stock APK to do this?

What do you mean by "bypasses Exchange security permissions"?
If you mean that it doesn't apply ActiveSync settings that are forced by the ActiveSync profile, that is not done via the e-mail client. If you mean "allow me to access a mailbox that I am not allowed to access by permissions on the mailbox", that won't work as those are server-side Active Directory settings, not e-mail client settings.
Its definitely the security password.. and exchange polices wise
I use Enhanced Email to bypass the exchange security.

Those are aosp 4.4.2 email client, ypu need both, and also need to delete the stock email and exchange from system/app.
I believe I signed them so they should work by simply installing.
Make sure u backup the stock files first.
