[Q] internal SD problem? - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, i need some help, its rather urgent.
I was trying to do a lag fix. It said it didn't work, and proceeded to restart.
went to the i9000 screen for 3 second, and just kept restating. can't get into recovery anymore. i got into download mode, and tried to flash back to stock with odin. odin said everything worked, but its still stuck in the same boot screen loop.
Any ideas? Is it the internal SD card? It is a bell i9000.
Thank you in advance.

Most dedinately the infamous corrupt SD issue. You're on 2.2 which is why it loops at the i9000m screen. If you flash 2.1 it will get to the glowing s screen then the screen will go black and it will stay like that.
You need to take it in for repair. There are many threads on this issue and other user experiences with the repair process

well, i was on a 2.2 rom. and i had just reflashed, because i was starting to get a lot of force close errors. So i reflashed. all went well. when i went to do the lag fix, it said, can't find file ( don't remmber what its called, something like bh1h1.. something like that.. which most posts say is SD card failure) then went to reboot. it shows the GALAXY S i9000 screen, then reboots again. i can;t get into recovery anymore. i can get into download mode. i try flashing with odin Odin says everything is flashed and that it worked, giving me no errors, but the phone is still stuck in the same boot loop. Thx for the help.

[Q] Help with phone stuck on Froyo 2.2

Hey guys.
Ok so what happened was that I updated to Froyo and it worked perfectly, had it rooted and installed lag fix. Couple of days later it would boot, go past the samsung logo but then nothing. I would be staring at a black screen and when i press the middle button the two buttons on the side would light up. Now i am not able to go into recovery mode but I can go into download mode. Now I have tried flashing the phone. I tried going stock, stock for other countries and also reflashing froyo 2.2. The most successful is froyo because once I have reflashed and reboot for the first time, it goes into recovery mode telling me it is having problem with a couple of things, one of them being the internal sd card, which is fixed by me doing a sd wipe but the next one is a data error, i think it was called dadata but i am not sure, have to double check. Now i cant get that error to go away even by doing a factory rest and once i reboot the phone, it goes back to the state i mentioned before. Plz can any one help?

Follow this guide.
If you still get error try finding a rom from samfirmware that has pda modem and csc then flash them with odin3 v1.70.
Sounds like you have a bad internal sd. You may have to take it back for warranty

ya so it says that it has some problem with dbdata and that it cant mount internal sd card. Am I screwed?

Ok i have just managed to solve a similar problem on my phone..
donwload the file from this link (it's from samfirmware)
add in all
code file into pda, modem file into modem and csc into csc
and add in the 803 pit make sure repartition is checked.
If that doesn't won't i can't help no more..
Any success?
No my friend, no luck. Thanks for the help though. Any one else have any other suggestions?
I have the same problem with my other i9000m. No amount of flashing with odin with whatever firmware helped. I took it into a local 3rd party repair shop. They have fixed 10+ corrupt sd card phones. They said they needed to keep it for one day which tells me its not just a simple flash job. Maybe they have some sort of jtag setup that allows them to reformat the flash chip or something.
Or maybe they are actually removing the chip off the mainboard and reformating it. Whatever it is they are doing, its worth the $70 to get my phone working again. There is definately a fix out there though. And at $70, it's just for labour. They're definately not replacing parts.

Have one last try with the jf3 firmware with the 512 pit.. again in odin v3 1.7 code in pda..modem in modem and csc in csc there are two not sure which is better i tried oxa..
JF3 Link
If that doesn't work then yer i guess your only option is take it into a shop.. or send it back to samsung to see if they will fix it for you.

Boot Loop - Tab dead?!?!?

Tab is running CWM Recovery and Gingerbread Overcome Rom beta 1. Has been running fine for 3/4 days. Yesterday the tab froze and rebooted twice. Tab was left on last night while on charge. This morning when I unplugged the tab it was off, so I switched it on but it is stuck in aboot loop. The Galaxy Tab Samsung screen displays but then just reboots.
I can get in Recovery and have performed a data wipe and cache wipe, made no difference.
I made a CW backup on Tuesday and checked afetr that it was on the sdcard, it was. However if I now try and do a restore from CW it claims there is no backup...
Is my tab dead? Is my internal memory dead?
I'm comlpetely lost now....
Can you get to the flash zip option in recovery? If you can try to reflash the ROM from the SD card. Have to tried starting over using Odin? Hope this helps. Good luck.
I can get to the flash zip but they are not there? This is whats making me think maybe there is an issue with the internal memory?? The tab has been freezing and rebooting at least once a day for the past 2 weeks or so?
Haven't tried the odin route yet, will give that a go tonight
If you wiped everything then yes, that will delete your internal memory.
Follow the Overcome guide to use Odin and restock to the GB safe rom, then go back to Overcome.

Haha, itbis
All youll need is:
Odin 1.7
P1_hidden.pit
GB-stocksafe.zip (i think thats what its called)
And the Obercome beta rom.
Hope it works out well for you.

this also happened to my tab (because i was playing around with my system files) i just reflashed the ROM and it was fixed, dont worry about it being bricked as long as you can still access CWM and download mode
hopefully you backed up
good luck! hope you get it fixed!
Think I could be in trouble. Followed the odin steps and got a big Red fail on Completing (Write) - Fail
Now whenever i turn it on all I have is a phone icon with a broken line going to a pc icon, cant even get into recovery!
Just flash dbdata. Don't worry, it's not bricked if you can still power it on and odin recognise it.

Try what again? I've tried switching off and on again several times? Do you mean try the odin steps again? If so I have twice and both times ended with the same Fail. I am really starting to think there is a serious issue with my internal memory...

There is a dbdata.tar file somewhere on roto rom's thread or chainfire's gingerbread rom. If it's a zip, extract it beforz. Flash it as pda.

I've had random reboots running a few different roms. It sucks and it does require a complete wipe. I end up going back to heimdall and reflashing all vzw images. Then I'm on a clean path to a fresh start.
Tbolt meatclaws-talkatap
Tab won't even switch on to alternative mode now other than when it's plugged into the wall socket power charger!?!?
Anyone able to offer an help? The tab will not boot unless it's plugged in charger, so when plugged into pc/laptop will not boot so I can't get to download mode..
Have managed to get it to switch on now but still getting the write failed when trying to flash the PDA. Have tried the GB Stock Safe and have tried the official samsung, both fail. This really does sound like an internal memory issue to me as everything seems to work fine until itgoes to write to the memory, does that sound feasible or am I just panicking?
One piece of advise...make sure that your battery is fully charged before you start anything....like if you plug it in will it show it charging...because if you start messing around with Odin or flashing and it dies from lack of power....then you will be SOL....I just had to send two into Samsung in the U.K. to get them flashed back to normal....but followed the Overcome rom instructions and both now have 2.3.3 android...Good luck!

[Q] E:Failed to mount /sdcard (File Exists)... help

I think I've tried everything except what I need to do. Anyway, here's the problem.
I was on MIUI 1.7.29 I believe, when all of a sudden, I restarted my phone, and my internal SD card was "blank." I restarted it one more time, and it solved the problem, or so it seemed.
Next time I rebooted my phone, my SD card was "blank" and I couldn't mount it for the life of me. I read somewhere that this may happen if you don't come from the stock ROM, which I came from Cog5v1, so I decided to flash back to the "I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0" which I've had on my computer since I've owned my Captivate and re-do my MIUI ROM.
So, I flash that, and everything seems fine, until all the splash screens stop. Then my phone just sits at a black screen with the touch buttons lit up.
Now from here, I've had a few phone problems in my day that have been solved with a download jig, so I find my jig and flash a different Kernel on to get CWM up and format my internal SD card that way, but anytime I flash another Kernal and boot into recovery, I get the "E:failed to mount /sdcard (File Exists)" error, in the default recovery screen.
I've even flashed the .tar that should force conversion back to rfs format.
And here's another kicker, I can't seem to get the phone recognized by adb at any point in the process, so I can't even manually do it! Please help me figure this out.
Let me know if there is any other information you need, and keep in mind, I'm not new at this and I'm not afraid to do anything crazy.
After those kernel flashes are you able to boot into android?
If so have you turned on usb debugging and tried a master clear with odin one click?

I've not been able to get my phone to boot on any kernel, because /sdcard is "corrupted", and I can't install a rom via CWM, since I can't boot into CWM since /sdcard is "corrupted."

Happened to me twice. You have to send your phone in to get it fixed. Your partition tables are probably screwed like mine were.

How much does it cost? Its gonna be a problem for me anyway since I live in Peru and bought the cellphone in Vancouver...
Did they tell you if they had to change the sdcard or the took it out and restore it?
Mobiletechvideos can possibly do it.
But I assume that you could restore a DD backup of partitions to resolve this.

I would like to try to go back to 2.1 or 2.2, because 2.3 has a different partition file.
J6 is the original 2.1. It should fix your problem. You may have to do the 3-button fix afterwards though. I did.

Thanks. I just flashed the kernel using Odin 1.87 and now it is formatting /data. How long will it take to format?
Ok
After 20 minutes, it says E:mkfs.ext4 not found!
Is that supposed to happen?
Ok
Windows does not recognize the sd card.
Ok
Bricked on the Angelom fiasco, kern 1.2 was using imilka v4 before. Did a data wipe, and thats all she wrote. Anyways >> Downloading now going to try this out. I have tried 22 different combos of things and nothing works. Odin keeps getting stuck on factoryfs, i can flash everything else, modem, kernel, etc. Recovery mode works as well. Data wipes take up to 30 min though on my phone. PS also tried Heimdall to push the factoryfs.img and gets stuck there as well. I am pretty sure the mobo needs to be replaced, but WTF lets do this.
same
In same boat as you sounds identical... will try as well.
@dr_derqami
Kernel flashed successful, no issues, Factory reset from recovery successful, format sdcard from windows after mounting in windoze successful. Reboot into download mode, push LA6 stock rom > fails at pushing factoryfs. Well it was worth a shot. Didnt have too much hope. Any other ideas?

[Q] Is my GT_i9000 dead?

Hi, I need some advice. I dropped my Galaxy S in a puddle. It was submerged for the just a second, but when I fished it out, the screen had gone 'weird', so I got the battery out as quickly as possible, then dried it out for a few days in the airing cupboard. I then tried it and it started up okay, then when I swiped to unlock the screen, it froze. since then I have been unable to boot the phone. It shows the Galaxy logo, then restarts and continues that loop.
I wondered if maybe the software has just been corrupted during its bath, so I thought i might try flashing a ROM onto it to see if that would recover. I found that I could not enter recovery mode but download mode opened okay. I have tried flashing a few ROMS using Odin. I am completely new to this and have never flashed my phone before, so steep learning curve. I have so far tried - I9000XWJW5 which I believe is normally used before installing Cyanogen mod. I also downloaded the T-Mobile Stock ROM and one with this filename - CF-Root-XX_OXA_JW4-v4.4-CWM3RFS. All of these successfully downloaded to the phone and I could see the progress bar on the phone. Unfortunately I still cannot get the phone into recovery mode.
So, whats your opinion? is my phone screwed? Is there anything else I can try which may help, like formatting or anything like that.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
try search for value pack 2.3.6 and flash it then root it after that I believe you should get the recovery option.

Can I do that without being able to get into recovery mode?
I've just been reading that I can use a PIT file to repartition during flashing. Is it worth trying? I noticed in the Value pack TAR file it does not have a PIT file. I got one downloaded from somewhere else called - s1_odin_20100512.pit worth a shot?
I tried including the pit file as well. Odin reported success but phone is still continuous boot loop and I cannot get recovery mode up. Do you think one of those USB things that get you into download mode would help? I'm beginning to think the internal SD is knackered, or something like that.
I think the memory is brocken but i don't realy know. Send it to Samsung for a check
