Not sure if this goes here but I thought that this was the most applicable section. If not then I apologize in advance and feel free to move it to the correct section mods.
Gridlock32404 on the XDA forums has put together a great guide to compiling for Android. I briefly skimmed over the post and it does much more then teach compiling. I personally think its a great starting read for anyone interested in getting started on doing more with their device besides just flashing.
Check it out with the link below. If almyz125 wants to add it to the Vibrant Directory that would great.

Personally, I feel that development guides belong in development as long as they're informative. In this case I think it's a good submissions. Thanks for the post
(although I really wish the mods would have thought more about my idea to change forums names to Roms, Mods, Themes, Guides, Think Tank, Q&A, Off Topic, etc.)

I agree with the forum naming suggestion. Should be mandatory to read that post before anyone asks how to make or take apart roms. Very informative and easy to read imo.
Finally, a not useless post...

I have suggested in the general forums that the rom development thread be seperated into 2 threads,
rom development and rom releases,

please browse to the above and let the mod's know how you felel about this.

I am posting this here to get the attention of those that do not read the general section, this is not a multiple post.

Yes this is a multiple post, and accordingly i'll close the one in the general section as this is probably a better place for the discussion.
I think what you mean is separate forums, and that is not likely to happen. There are several much larger forums that have not been split yet. The problem with splitting it is that people usually don't post new threads in the right section anyway. More threads just leaves more places for people to have to look for information. In my opinion it's much easier to skim a couple pages of threads in one forum that have to read separate subforums to find the topic i'm looking for. I think a better solution would be to get everyone to correctly label their threads to make them easier to identify. Or you could keep the wiki updated with the various stock/hacked roms for easy of viewing. Any user can update the wiki after all.

same here,
what is he talkin bout?
Hahaha, ok what I meant was that because there are not so many threads or roms for X1, it does not make much sense on separating threads to more sections...
REVISED: X1 sections on XDA are so slow that it does not make much sense on making more sub forums at this point... IMHO anyway..
hope some one enjoys these.

here's the cd theme.
None of these have lines.
Digging the CD theme, going to try it out. Thanks.
You're welcome.
It's nice to fially have a chance to contribute to this fantastic site
Just a follow up. Was using the CD theme all day today and it looks real well. Everybody at work knows me as "blankman" because I am always buying blank cds so when they saw this on my phone, everybody got a nice little laugh out of it. Thanks again.
why don't you just post your skins in the throttle lock thread? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419525
or maybe go to the real ThrottleLock website and post it there? http://www.throttlelauncher.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=19
we already have enough new threads started for skins for this program instead of people just including their skins in the threads that already exist.
sorry if i am coming off as a jerk but like i said there are too many threads for this and this is hardly the section to post this in because a skin doesnt have anything to do with software development.
toorima
Sorry
Sorry for the honest mistake.
Just wanted to contribute to this forum.
I will go elsewhere from now on.
@rojaa
There is nothing wrong with opening a thread in this section if you are making some sort of contribution. Making the software look more appealing is also part of the development process in any software. Why else do you think that we are not cracking down on {skin} threads?
The only thing that you cannot post in this section are new threads with questions that can be answered either in the corresponding forum/thread of the software/hardware related to the question.
Don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong...
BTW, cool skin
@toorima_anchuu
Please read the forum rules before going off at people.
"DEVELOPMENT & HACKING: All threads contributing to the PPC/Smartphone Community in the form of Software,Hardware,Themes,Graphics,Games,Utilites,H acks,Etc, can be posted here. Also any thread which offers information which will help in the development or progress of any of these subjects can be posted here. As far as the Flaming, please read the following extract from the same thread:
""Flaming" another user for a mistake, such as posting in the wrong section, or asking a noob type question, will no longer be tolerated. ANY MEMBER (OF ANY STATUS) CAUGHT FLAMING ANOTHER MEMBER FOR ANY REASON, WILL BE SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY ACTION. This just will not be tolerated guys and gals. XDA isn't here for only tech savy members, but for members of all types, Noobs included."

it's a mess in there. soo many excellent applications, tweaks, skins, etc exist in that section but everything is soo jumbled together you better know exactly what you are looking for before venturing in.
Dedicated section for asking
Try asking Mods in the proper section:

I wouldn´t dare to move anything on that section

why? what would be the harm in adding some organization? right now it is about the same as dumping together half a dozen phones into the same section.
the individual forums for phones themselves are organized wonderfully. i don't understand how anyone could have the desire to leave things how they are.
Delete thread
Well
I see you already make the same post on the proper section
Let´s hear what Mods have to say about this.
I respect your petition, so please respect mine too

There's a script over in the I9000 dev forum. does any one know if it works for the captivate?

yes, it's included in many current kernels (and ROMs i guess)
and btw, wrong topic
A lot of this is already incorporated into existz Talon kernel and they have taken it many steps forward from just a script. Also, this belongs in Q&A, not Dev.
you see the forum that says Q&A? hmmm maybe try that place instead of dev. also you spelt MEMORY wrong.
Thread moved.

It was pointed out by several others that this thread was posted in the wrong section of the boards. Both previous posters included some form of relevant information, to assist the OP in at least some fashion.
You have provided no useful information, and are criticizing people for misspellings, when you can't seem to spell or use punctuation yourself.
I'm sure both the moderators and members here would appreciate more contributions and less usefulness.
2Quik, several Kernels I've seen have different iterations of a memory script. They haven't been that in depth as the one Juwe11 posted in his original thread, which is not surprising considering it is relatively new. I think your best bet would be to try and contact him directly, and moreover do a bit of testing yourself. Find out as much as you can about what it does, and then determine if it's something you and your device will require.
If you have success with it you should post your findings both here and to the original author. Good luck.
^^^Don't get all butt hurt because someone pointed out someone's forum failings whether they helped him or not. And the mods appreciate any help from members in keeping the boards tidy and users respecting the forum rules. With 5 posts since February you're in no position to be dishing out a scolding to anyone.
*Applies band-aid on butt.
Just to follow-up, I'm running that script on my Captivate and I'm having excellent results so far.
I'm running Serendipity VII on Talon's 2.1

My fault for posting it in the wrong section.

I have an Atrix 4G and a fair bit of knowledge on it. These forums are really good, but it would be useful if I could reply to threads in the atrix development. I have answers and questions, but I don't know if I need to be approved or something like that in order to post in the forums.

Since you are past 10 posts now you should be able to post there. If it still doesn't work in a few hours, then you might ping one of the mods in that forum to take a look at your account and see if there is some issue there.
You need 10 posts to post in development forums, which you can find out more about by looking at the links in my signature.
The server only updates permissions periodically so yours may not have been changed yet, but you have the required post count.
I've had a look at your posts and you're not a typical "10 post spammer" that we see a lot of in here, which is greatly appreciated, but it's still worth a reminder about the following things.
Don't create threads in Development forums unless it's to release software. Questions go in either a relevant existing thread, or a new one in the Q&A forum (or General forum if there's no device-specific Q&A forum). And on that note, always search thoroughly before asking. Nothing irritates other members more than seeing the same questions asked over and again.
Anyway, just bare the above in mind and go enjoy the forums. I'm just glad I don't have to delete a bunch of pointless posts

Yeah man I just want to contribute. Do I need a "thanks" or something like that ?
Also can an admin "approve me" or something like that? My only other question is the five minute between post wait can that be removed? For example I'm just waiting now to send this reply, it's no big deal, just wondering.
Also I posted a thread here asking basically the same question, I don't know how to delete it, but here's a link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1783730

Nope, its not reflected by Thanks Meter. Just 10 posts is decent enough. For deleting/closing that Thread, you need to contact the Forum Specific Moderator assigned to that Forum.

At the top of each forum the mods responsible for that forum should be listed. I was suggesting to send one of them a PM, but Archer answered you here.
I got it. Thanks for the help I can post now!
@mf2112 thanks it's working fine now I can post replies !
