Top tip: Don't drop expensive phones!

I originally posted these over at WMPowerUser (and they have now seemingly become popular images) so I thought why not get the word out a little more?
Basically, I dropped my HTC HD2. Big mistake. Now, I have to get it all repaired!

Don't drop your phone, it's rather fragile (even if it can take a knifing).

I have the one it came with, which isn't much use if you actually want to use the device!

Yeah, ouch. My friend dropped her G1 on it's back, and it cracked the screen.

Man, I'm sorry about that. TBH I cringed a little when I first saw this on WMPoweruser.com. This seems to be a problem with all glass-screened phones, as about three friends of mine (all with iPhones) have had them replaced at least once due to shattered screens. Well, I wish you the best of luck in getting it fixed

Ahhhh i'm on the safe side... I have a HTC Universal and even if it drop down nothing happens to the screen... big advantage of having calmshell design.....

Thats one way of doing it. And much Cheaper.

Like the NC isn't heavy enough for reading. Good job though.
Lifehacker had an atricle about using book binding materials to make an Ipad case. It would be neat to make one.

I've always wanted to hollow out a book for something - just thought it would be kinda fun. Looks like you did a good job. Only thing to be concerned for is dropping the "book" and having the NC come flying out.

Putting my Nook in a book would ruin part of the benefit of using a Nook for me: I don't have to hold something open to be able to read; I can just lay it down and be done with it. This is definitely cool, but for me, if I have to hold it open it's not worth it.

looks heavy, I saw a guy do the same, but remove all the pages and cut material to replace the book binding and make it look more smooth, I gotta try it too, thanks for all the ideas

You missed an opportunity to do this with a Sarah Palin book.

This is going to be very useful in prison....but how will you get the NC into the pen in the first place?

Go to www.dealextreme.com or dx.com and they have several inexpensive cases for the Google Nexus 7; probably from the same sources as all those eBay sellers.
As an example I have bought, in the past, a soft TPU case for my S2 (at around three bucks! :silly and I preferred it to an Otterbox... But I believe it's a hit or miss; some other products are crappy.
I bought this (here) and I am waiting for delivery; I will post a review when I get it. Seems OK however.

Looks great. Doesn't look like the flap will stay closed though since there aren't any magnets on the outside rim.

Hmmm, true.
Maybe (hopefully) it's a 'friction' closure?
I could always put a fabric elastic around it I guess, kinda like in the moleskine note books ....
Edit: on some of the pictures, it almost looks like it has an elastic; when you look at the edge, on the cover that does not have the hole, it almost seems there are seams for an elastic, that has been put away for the picture?

That pink one has an elastic strap closure, you can just see it in the enlarged pictures on the vendors site.

Sleeve recommendations

Hi there! I'm still waiting for my Z3TC but I'm looking for nice sleeve. Recommend here if you have one or if you have seen some nice sleeves on the web. It shouldnt be more than 20€ shipped, for me atleast.

'Adore june' sleeve (amazon.Co.UK). Bought one, looks decent, but does not add a huge amount of protection. Will stop screen getting scratched, but I does not offer much impact protection. Nice find! I looked at their own website but they wont ship outside germany. Didnt know they were available at amazon. Might go with the 'classic' version.

Adore june classic, works as it should.
Fits with tpu case on but its very tight, I wont recommend that. Without case its perfect, might work with hardcase too.

Any decent leather back cases for the Edge?

As per the thread title, I'm looking for an iPhone style leather case (e.g. the official Apple one) that's just like a normal case (e.g. ringke/spigen slim), not a folio case.

Seems like the even with the second biggest phone in the world, the options are far inferior than when it comes to iPhones annoyingly.

Yeah I had seen that actually, just a bit too blingy/complex for my liking. Looking for simple brown leather but seems there's nothing out there right now.

Try storyleather dot com. I ordered mine last month and should be receiving it tomorrow. They are made to order. Will let you know how I like it after I get it. Good luck.

I was looking for one in real leather with nothing on the back really. Closest I'd seen was the Kavaj ones, but they also have a card slot on the back.
