If you like KA5, KA6 is going to blow your mind, just 1 reboot and I'm locked in at 1 second to 12 satellites at a 3 meter accuracy, crazy!

I just flashed KA6 over KA5 and I wanted to say best GPS so far! 13 in view, 8 locked in about 10 seconds from inside. Best I ever got in that location was 5 locked and that was KA5. Data speed didn't really change for me from JL5, KA5 or KA6 though. I get anywhere from 2mb-5mb/sec so I'm not complaining

I never had gps issues and always had good data till ka5. Even the build seems buggy.. going to flash and test..... hopefully samsungs wack ass actually fixes something this time around.
Wonder if anyone had good speeds before tethering. Then when tethering... speeds turn to ****

My 3G Speed increased from 300KBPS to 3MBPS with Radio Update!

My favorite test spot, right here at my computer desk, has never yielded a variable response from the speed test app until I updated to Radio 5 last night. Not only did I pull 2.2MBPS, but it was consistently fast. As the night moved on, I got 2.5, 2.7, and 3.2. We actually tethered all three computers in my home to the phone and browsed at full speed!
If im running cm6 will this radio work?
how do you flash radio updates? Is there any reason no to always be with the latest radio firmware?
I'm assuming it's the korean radio? Thanks for the info I'm gonna try flashing it

Sweet i just flashed it using ROM Manager ill return with tests tomorrow.
do you just flash a radio update like a rom? is there any reason not to always use the latest radio?
Depending on the area that the OP lives in it could just be that
T-Mobile just switched on HSPA+ in that area
Which wouldn't have any regards to the radio version

I about broke my neck with this speed I got in downtown salt lake city. Normally it is less than 100, but today I tested at 500, then 1900 kbps, and now this. I'm stock everything.
I don't know if this is just coincidence or not, but I haven't had the wifi disconnect issue since updating to the 5/Korean radio...
where is the radio update?

lots of dropped calls / weak signal on stock 2.2

So my gf just got a new captivate, and its running 2.2 and she says dropping a ton of calls, and that she has weak signal alot and so on....
my question is should I swap the modem ( shes on stock) from the KB1 or what ever to like the JH3 ?
OR should I return it and get a new one?
What are the chances the phone is hardware defective vs modem troubles?
They tried to fix problems with 2.2 and they just created more. Try switching the modem. I havent been messing with stuff lately, Ive been pulling my hair out with at&t's return center. Try KP1. But make sure the phone is rooted before you do this.

No haha i guess people are too lazy to coordinate a country wide effort for modems lol.

Home-less

I can't post in the developers forum. However just wanted to notify the talented developer that the only issue is upon boot I get two error messages that flash by so fast I can't make them out. This occurs only with HL. I have formatted many times and am not new to working with roms. Running rooted stock right now with power button mod. I may try to flash over this with revolt 1.3. But I need bluetooth and love the lg widgets and ring tones. Its much better waking to soft ringtones.
That's just my feedback and thank you so much for making this even something for me to give feedback on. I await all of your next pieces of work.
Sent from my VS910 4G using Tapatalk
I know I did not provide much info on the error messages, but can anyone confirm? After initial boot no more errors. Are they related to the lg being ripped out and the phone is looking for it? I will make a video of it when I get home.

Kept wondering why I was getting such low download speed even on my home wifi. I suspected root. I hoped that was not the case. After going back to non root, my speeds have doubled. From 9mbs to 19mbs down. That's ****ed up. Is that the trick to roots longer battery life, cut the modem speed in half? Not upset with the devs, just upset I had to get rid of my root for full 4g.

Were you running another ROM? The reason I ask is because just having root on a phone should only changes access to the file system. However if it is the case that you only had root and no replacement of the stock system please let me know as I would like to research.
I tossed my Crap, Revolted and moved out of my Home.

v6 of android 2.2.2, it does not include the radio upgrades. If you want to test the difference you have to flash stock rom, remove CWM, upgrade to v6 with the new radio firmware. I was running the full v6 for a day and found the 3G and 1x(phone) to be very stable and I got better bars overall. (no 4G in my area till next month)

WiFi problem

Hello all,
My SGS has the weirdest WiFi problem. It connects. It browses. It works fine.
BUT, it does not got to certain speeds or certain distances from the router.
The available internet speed for phones in my university is 10mbit/s, but when i try speedtest, it gives me 790kbit/s.
And the max distance, in every single router I've tried, it's not as far as other phones can get. Even a Nokia E71 can get 10 more meters away from the router than I can.
Example: I can be sitting with my friend, who has an HTC. He is downloading with 5Mb/s and sitting further away from the router outside. While I am downloading at 60Kb/s.
I've tried many ROMs (currently on CM9), and none of them worked.
Thanks, and sorry for the long post.
Speedtest shows 790kbit/s or 790kBit/s ??? As you know 1kb ~ 8kB
If there is indeed something wrong, I would try different modem, not different ROM.

And what is your current modem?
By the way, ~6,5mb/s from shared wifi access point with speed limited to 10mb/s is not so bad?
It's not bad at all. But all I am getting is 50-60Kb/s of download speed and at very short distances.

OK, I was wrong with my modem/radio idea
Anyway, if you get speed over 6Mb/s from public 10Mb hotspot (SpeedTest result) your phone is OK! When you try to download something, and it is downloading slow, it probably means that the server you are downloading from has slow upload speed... Result from SpeedTest shows that your connectivity is fine...

Clearly you have got the buck wrong here man, its not only his speed that is the problem, it is the range, this phone is capable of a lot of range, I can reach wifi networks from down the road when I was on gb and ice isn't quite as good and he wants the best he can get.

LTE FIX!!!!!

As u know that with latest android update 4.2.2 Google turn off the lte access. No worries
It just the radios so just roll back to previous radios .33 or .24

Just go to this thread and download the modems and flash in recovery and guess what lte is back.....

well thats kind of common sense to be honest.
not really a fix but a workaround
has this worked for you by any chance?
I just finished doing this myself. It works, you just need to flash the 4.2.1 radio .33 over top of 4.2.2 and it works fine

I'm talking about the baseband update, not the actual 4.2.2 OS update. I've updated to 4.2.2 but downgraded the baseband, which has nothing to do with the media scanner bug.
I'm wondering what specific improvements/changes were made in the new baseband.
Do I have to be rooted to flash an old radio?

The network could quite easily lock out your phone at any time anyway, as each handset identifies itself on LTE, so they only have to put a block on N4 ID strings, if they wanted to and use the non-approved card...
