Hi,
how can I stop programs that start automatically?
I mean not at boot or autostart, but the programs always start again.
A Task Killer is not what I want.
Are there other solutions?

Freezing an app prevents it from running constantly in the background on its own and pretty much makes it invisible to the system. With a simple Defrost a frozen app will be right back to the way it was before freezing.

Well autostarts generally work ok, another option is to use Titanium Backup to uninstall (Tread carefully with system Apps) System App remover is an App that can backup system apps before uninstall.
But be careful.

For Reference to the above.
Hi,
i would not uninstall the programs, but just stop.
Example: PayPal is started in background, why?
I close PayPal with the Task killer, but it starts over again.

It's all about closing programs properly. Either back out of programs or use their exit button after hitting the list button. I never get apps reopening.

Hello..
First.. thanks to all in the DFT team for porting WP7. WOW.. you're skills are just incomprehensible!!!
Now, the problem I've got is that I've installed an app (Xbox live extras) and its not showing up on the program list.. However, whenever i go into the Marketplace to re-download it, it says its already installed on the phone. Is there a way to delete/reinstall this app?
Thank you

Thanks for the reply... unfortunately that doesn't sort it out
I should add that when i click on my avatar (in Xbox live) it goes to the marketplace and to extras. There, i get the option to check install, which i do.. there are no downloads in the queue.. Hmmm!!!!
I had this happen with a solitaire game. It did not show up in list after install.
No way to uninstall or reinstall if you can't see it.
Just wondering if anyone can help..
Thank you

hehe yes I know how to uninstall app, but I mean the unvisible apps.
Just to let you all know my solution...
I hard reset and started all over again LOL
For some reason the Xbox Live Extras program takes an AGE to install.. so this time i just left it overnight and hey presto!.. come morning time, it worked perfectly.
I'd still hope that someone will find a non hard reset solution to this problem..
i got this too, eveyrthign else is perfect but this just does my head in lol, i have a question over at ms answers also.

I had the same problem. some apps were invisible after install.
I restarted my htc hd2/wp7. then i could see and could uninstall them also. maybe this helps you
[SOLUTION] Stuck apps
To force an app to install so you can then reinstall, such as in my case and i think the ops where xbox live extras never installed properly. marketplace says it is but you cannot see it nor is it listed in downloads.
Unlock your phone with chevron, install xbox live extras from the Windows marketplace for desktop http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-908293.html
Than uninstall from phone by holding down on the icon in the games panel.
You will then be able to go to the item in marketplace and choose to install again.
This fixed my xblive extras and it's now working properly.
Hey, hope your're fine, people.
Say me please: is it possible to make an exception for one of the user's apps from MIUI App Killer?
I'll explain:
For example, imagine that i installed an application (in my case it's "wave launcher") that should work on the background, but App Killer is closing all non-system processes, when i'm pressing the button "App Killer". So can i make an exception for the MIUI App Killer by myself or find its settings anywhere? Does it have any settings or something as well?
I'm on MIUI. Not regular Android.
Thank you!
- Leo
Yeah ^^
I wana do the same...
Might play around with moving apps to system with root explorer [after nandroid BU o/c]
Maybe that'll keep my monitoring/scaling apps from being restarted & having to re-do settings ain:
Hey guys. I use AutoKiller Pro and Autostarts (which from what I've read and my experience are the best at this) to control and close running apps. They're quite effective, but there are some (Facebook, WhatsApp, among others) that keep reopening even after I "kill" them and terminate their processes.
Is there any way to stop this? Another, more effective app perhaps? I would appreciate some suggestions.
Look forward to your replies!

DON'T use autokiller or any app like that. You are just ruining your phone. Why? Because that's the way android works. The apps android thinks user needs more it keeps them in memory so they can be accesed faster. Whatsapp and Facebook have services running in background, because they need to be running to receive alerts (both are for comunication). Duh!
Thanks for your reply. But what if I'm offline? I don't want those apps wasting resources and draining the battery (which btw isn't the best)...
There are two ways
-Freeze
-Or uninstall them

Freeze with Titanium backup
Hi bros,
I have noticed an interesting thing happen here, always that i flash a new rom (with root access) and freeze some apps like google+, yahoo! weather, talkback and Google talk i see lags and freeze on S Advance. I only freeze safe apps, almost no system things. I freeze the same apps that everybody do to make an smartphone smoother and smarter.
I never saw force close or error message, just lag and freeze, but freeze apps was not to just let the phone lighter, stopping with default applications not use and thus avoiding freezes?? Why I'm noticed the opposite thing that i should?
Today I flash LQ4 again, and i'm thinking to uninstall this apps instead of freeze. What you think, guys?
Thanks!

I think that pushing it in system/app and giving permissions its the best option.

They are already in system/app
Use pimp my Rom. It can do it. But you have to do it at every restart
I found Auto memory manager and I put apps i want as "always keep alive"
also i used the local.prop method I think this is better but when starting a game like smash cop or blood and glory and after closing it those apps start again"means they have killed"
but I assumed that has happened because of the large ram which is used by the game itself

So it is the same plan with IZS. Did you find it? When you open "applications", you see the apps you downloaded, right? That top bar, scroll horizontally.

I found only whatsapp in the running services

If you run apps that need many ram, at some point, some apps closes. Or the app you are running closes
