[Q] Darky's rom v 7.7 reception issue

hey guys , i have flashed several rom and i really like the look and feel of the darky's rom however i have really bad reception issue. sometimes at home where i usually have full bar i have no signals at all , or last night i was traveling to Oklahoma city with my friend who is running captivate on stock rom and he had full bar while i had no service at all ! any idea what i'm doing wrong ?
Usually better to ask in the darky thread , but anyways.
Did you flash back to stock and then upgrade to darkys or did you upgrade on top of a previous rom? If the latter, flash back to stock and reinstall.
If the former, try a different modem. I am not using the modem or kernel that came with darkys rom. I am using the kernel with speedmod and ugjl2 modem and so far I have great reception. Of course that isn't saying much as I always have great reception using my cell device (can't think of its name atm.)

You are running the I9000 version and not the captivate port. This alone wont cause problems if you have the reoriented kernel but the jpy modem you have will. I believe it does not have the 850 band. Flash a different modem from the modem thread in the development section and you should be good to go.
If im mistaken please forgive as its 7:30am and I still haven't slept yet.

thanks for your reply ! well yea i did one click odin to stock 2.1 and then flash this using this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=868262
and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=808286 flashing xcaliburinhand's latest reoriented kernel (odin version) with voodoo (I9000_reoriented_v2.3.0) so i'm not sure what is the issue here ... can you all guide me what modem should i use ? i was actually thinking about the same thing because i use to have a phone that didn't have 850 bad and i had this kind of issue ! so any help of how and where to get a modem to flash will be greatly appreciated !
I personally use JK4. A lot of people find that JL3 works better for them. Either way at the moment these are the top two modems available. Both can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9134296&postcount=2 and are flashable via CWM.
Also next time you are going to flash a version of Darky's just use this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=890429 or any one that ytt3r starts because he ports them over to the captivate and you don't have to worry about messing with kernels or anything not working properly.
thanks i'll try it next week , since i'm running Axura 2.2 and so far i like it

[Q] Best modem for Vodafone Romania (from user experience)

Hello XDA users!
This is a question addressed mainly to my fellow Romanians that own a Galaxy S. I'm trying to figure out which modem works best in terms of signal strength and battery drain on Vodafone? I know there's a global Vodafone modem driver and i've tried it for a week but it didn't seem to satisfy me.
From your experience which modem did you find best for signal and battery life?
P.S.: I'm currently running MIUI v5 (XDA version) and ZSJPG (yeah i know it's for Asia).

what is the battery drain on you ?
Whatt app do u use ? Wifii ? And if yes.. how much time ? setup in @g or 3G ? Mobile data connection always working ? More details please
I have been using JVO since the official Kies release in May. I did not encounter any problems with it and the GPS performace improved significantly.
I'm on JVP rom with JVQ modem .. battery drain is about 1% per hour with everything on (wifi, bluetooth etc) with 2 push emails (gmail and exchange).
Pretty good I would say.
I'm not on vodafone but I don't think there is any noticeable difference.
Jvp rom ??? Maybe a rom that had initialt jvp and u flashed it after with other...
What type of android r u using ? 2.2.1...2.3.3 or 2.3.4 ?

You should try www.romkitchen.org ...
I've cooked (quite a while ago) a JVP (gingerbread 2.3.4) based rom and I've played with different modem in it. Now I'm on JVQ modem (on the same JVP base rom) and everything is fine.
I'm using BUJP5 on galnet's v5.2
ICS ROM modem
Can anybody share his experience with ICS battery and witch modem is using on Vodafone Romania?
I used JVU and JW4 but is draining battery like hell when I use 3G data and the phone is getting really hot.

Try JPG
I have ICS with JVU modem. Call sound good and did not interrupt in Vodafone Romania.
It is very important to have the original IMEI. Otherwise you will have problems with some modems.
All the modems in my signature are working for Romania.
Best battery: JPG.
Best sound: KF1
An up to date recommendation for Vodafone Romania? I'm on a JVU modem (CM10).
Edit: JW4 modem seems the best so far.

[q] which rom to use?

Hello Guys,
I have SGS from bell (I9000M). I am looking to flash rom (any good one).
But there are tons of roms here but I dont know which one will work with I9000M.
So if anyone could help me with that would be great and if there is any post like that plz let me know so i'll delete this one.
Thanks
Flash the JVP or JVQ they are the newest , i would go with JVP because it's more stable then jvq , so good luck , also try the F1 GS2 V6 rom it's amazingggggg
feel free to push thanks if i was helpfull
I think there is no good or worse (custom) ROM, its just personal taste which one to prefer.
Im using Miui galnet cause it feels like a stable Miui ROM, I like the customisation possibilities and the real different feeling compared to other (non-miui) roms

[Q] Most stable Stock ROM

Just a quick simple question.

sadly all the stock firmwares have some small but irritating issues associated with them: as the firmwares develop iteratively, Samsung appears to keep experimenting with options and fixes, so most stock firmwares remain two steps forward and one step back from the last version -- some have more problems that others.
JVR has been the most successful (stable and official release), but in stock form it still had (has) some issues, which are usually effectively addressed by a custom rom or kernel or a different modem (depending on what issue vexes your phone).
JVT has now got a stable custom rom and kernel option also.
Cheers for the reply.
You mentioned jvt custom stable version.which one is this one?
