[Q] Can this be turned into a boot animation - Captivate Themes and Apps

I just saw this video and would like to know if it can be turned into a boot animation.
TIA if this should be in the Q&A section feel free to move it but felt this would be best in here as its theme related and could very well lead to a nice tutorial on how this can be done.

That would be awesome please help him

Nice
+1....

I just saw the bootanimation video from the link you gave and if you click on where he says you can get the bootanimation zip it will take you too another page with the video. Scroll down and there is a link to download it. I will try to upload it here when I get a chance if not.

Indeed...this is the link according to it:
http://www.nsbtt.com/android/bootanimation.zip
PS I tried it but it looks a bit too grainy and is too fast...so yeah, we can get a better version for our phones hopefully.

Earlier it didn't have the link, just said he was gonna work on it to make it one. That was fast

The images inside that are only 256x256. Of course it will look like crap.

It looks decent and the speed is right on time with my docs rom boot speed.

It looks good as far as not being grainy but it is kind of a bummer that it is not full/almost full screen while booting. It is like looking at a picture in the gallery that is a landscape pic but your viewing it in horizontal mode. Too bad because it does look high quality graphic wise. It does seem a little fast too but not too bad. Maybe needs more frames to act right.

Im looking for this as a boot animation too. Is there an official link for the animation yet?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

Here you go.... It boots in landscape but still looks good....

Great work, could you get some corresponding sound aswell.

I'm guessing just run this through clockwork?

nevermind I got it to work. If it runs too slow do I make the last set of numbers in the .txt higher or lower?

[Q] Trouble making a boot animation

I'm currently done making an alternative boot animation for CM7, but I just can't get it to show up on my phone.
Here is the .swf for what it is supposed to look like (unlooped)
http://www.swfcabin.com/open/1296673506
I also attached the zip of what I have. If anyone could go through it and give me some pointers on how to make it work it would make my day.
Thanks.
Update: I changed the filenames to what I thought was correct. Still getting a black screen after the nexus logo. Phone boots fine though,
How did you zip the file?
You have to use a non compressed format...
I'll play with it, and see what I can do.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
It's most likely compressed. I had no idea it wasn't supposed to be, makes sense though.
I'll do that and let you know.
It did the trick. Thanks.
Only thing is that it doesn't take up the whole screen. Back to the drawing board I guess.
Update: Thanks, managed to fix everything.
Great!
...I got distracted!

Could attempt it on a test build on CM7, works there from what it looks like.
Just wanted to chime in here on the subject.
Did some searching today and it lead me to the threat linked above, downloaded and flashed through rom manager. First boot took a bit longer than it usually does, thought I got stuck in a boot loop. However, I can confirm this works on the lates pre-alpha cm build!
I had to create another google account to test it out, but low and behold it actually works!
I didn't see any other posts in the thunderbolt forum acknowledging this so I thought I would let you all know.
A family member of mine has a stock tbolt and I got the latest BAMF GB Tom on mine. She texted me today and by her info in the text I had the green video camera. I hit it, it called her and I could see and hear her. She doesn't live in a 4g area nor hooked up to wifi at the moment, but for whatever reason, like I said I could see her and hear just fine. So looks like it might work from 2.2 to 2.3 with better circumstances. Hopes this helps.

I finally got gtalk video and audio working for two way calls on gingerbread
The solution has been out, but I guess I just didn't do a good job of googling. Flash this Google Package File in recovery after wiping cache and davlik.
You can also just read the thread where I got it from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793. The same file is listed under "to install" step#2, Alternate3.
After installing this, my Gmail app was missing so I installed it from the market. I had to install the thing twice before it finally worked b/c it force closed on me with the first install.
I haven't tested the calls on wifi yet, but it was clear on 3g. Only gripe I have is that the camera view is rotated.

Anyone care for a Faster 3D gallery.apk, Credit goes to bosina in vibrant forum

Ok, I was browsing the other SGS forums like I usually do and I stumbled across this. So I downloaded it and was surprised just how fast it was.
I have alot of images saved on my phone. From my theming stuff.
This gallery loaded all of them in under 15sec. My original gallery took around 2min to do the same. Anyway check it out.
I take no credit as I didnt create it, I simply found it. I will upload link to original poster if/when I can find it again... I know it came from i9000 gingerbread leak.
Here is the OP's link credit to bosina

Just downloaded and it makes a big difference. Opens the gallery and folders instantly. Thanks!

This may be a stupid question but does this improve the media scan at bootup?
Nope, just faster load time for the gallery. Awe...some, thx!
I don't know if this is happening to others, but when I open an image then hit the back button, instead of taking you back to the gallery it closes the gallery. It does load a bit quicker.

I know this is a noob question, but here goes: I have never attempted to adb push anything since I always just flash things through CWM. How would I go about pushing this to my phone? I downloaded the android SDK(do I need to download anything else?)
Im pretty sure this is the same one that's included in.the comm rom. I.have about 500mb of wallpapers on my sdcard and they load in about 5 seconds with both of them.

Weird, but it actually seems slower to load than before. But does anyone know if the old Gallery let you set a specific lockscreen wallpaper separate from the homescreen wallpaper(long press image-more-set as)? If so, I never noticed. If not, cool new option!
Edit: reboot helped speed a lot.
Edit 2: Set as lockscreen wallpaper doesn't seem to work... So as far as cool new option goes, not so much.
dammm ive never saw this post lols.... media scanning ive herd also? for media scanning you guys have to get a init.d fix... search for sd speed and it should show upp..
btw bringing an old post is good... others can enjoy lols

sorry to bring this from the dead, but would this work on the g1 or should i hold off? the apk size definitely seems a tad larger then what i see in the g1 roms.

New netflix apk

If your Netflix app wont update heres the APK go to XDA home page and select Android Hacking then choose the one about games and stuff and there it will be . Sorry cant post link maybe someone on a computer could help.
If i helped you please thank me
I just upgraded to gingered 0.07 and tried installing netflix, only to find out that I need to update it before it will let me log in.
Please, if someone has the new apk, can you post it here so we can continue to use Netflix on our phones?
here's the link:

I'd really appreciate a chance to try this out. Is it because I have less than 10 posts? It does say that that's just to post on the dev forum. I just want to download it.
dunno if it was a fluke for me, but i just Odin'd EG22 (Source: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1184134) and searched Netflix in the stock marketplace app. Found that it wasn't blocked from the epic anymore. Figured i'd give that a try before running the modified versions. Found the app, and installed without a problem. Loads MUCH faster too. Came from EF02.
EDIT/ maybe my marketplace has been tweaked already?... didn't read anything about that and says its stock... anyways give it a shot

yeah, the app is downloadable from the market and it does work on my Epic running SRF 1.2 atop Genocide 1.1. the overall responsiveness is a bit sluggish, and only being able to access my instant queue is really annoying - you'd think an official Netflix app could have an actual means of managing you DVD queued - but streaming video absolutely works.
thanks, tried it out and works like a charm.
For some reason Netflix still has the poor quality buttons at the top of the app. I'm not sure if its suppose to be like that, but has anyone experienced that?
its not a big deal, just curious.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
The app buttons stink. But even the website buttons look screwy sometimes on Chrome. I think it's just Netflix not keeping their tech up to snuff. Maybe that's why they are changing the rates on their plans.

I never tried a video. The one I was trying to use was a bunch of pictures of a video. It was for MW3 and it was like 20Mb. I still haven't gotten it to work but I'm going to flash Beamers updated theme and try something else. I think if you went through and got pictures every second or so of the video you could then make a boot animation of that. I would just be wary of how many you get and the size of the file.

Beamer uses an incredibly intricate auto-reply bot that crawls the forums, collects data, and then answers questions in Beamer's diction using that data. He recently ported it over to IRC, and it's nearly impossible to distinguish BeamerBot from The Real Beamshady.
