R2 or andrizoid as he originally was stole work from within xda so that's against forum rules
Incdoes did outside of xda so even though he's worse the mods cant ban him for what he did outside of xda

Seems like we're getting official Sense 3.0

http://techie-buzz.com/mobile-news/htc-incredible-s-to-get-official-sense-3-0-update.html
"Like the Desire S software update, the software update for the Incredible S will bring with it Sense 3.0, along with its goodies like a 3D launcher, and a widget-izied lock screen. The Android version will also be bumped to 2.3.5, and will also bring Google Talk with video chatting capabilities to the handset."
How come no one have posted these links?
So, looks like HTC won't ignore the IncS owners! For now...
*edit*
(damn, just noticed someone posted this in another thread, but w/e, this way more ppl will see it!)

Read the twitter link from PaulOBrian.
"So Saga and Vivo (Desire S and Incredible S) have official Sense 3.0 builds now. "
If the builds are done, it shouldn't be long before they release it.
But then again, you never know with HTC. For me it seems like they're pretty slow at updating their phones...

Agreed. I had the original Samsung Galaxy before the Incredible S. The updates from Samsung were buggy and slow to non-existent. That was what prompted me to move to HTC since they seemed much better.
So why does desire s have it and inc s doesn't? They are virtually the same.
And saying there are a lot of phones not having it is a non-sense argument. VIVO is not an old phone. So it is our right to expect better service

Quit your *****in.
What's nonsense is your incessant whining.
We will also get ics I'm sure.
Htc is one of the best for updates, if you're complaining about this then you probably just shouldn't own an Android phone.

Well, if they continue updating this rapidly we'll have cm9 before official sense 3.0 x)
Anyway, anyone who's gotten the update yet?

As someone with 16000 S-On Im really glad to hear this .. as for the banter on HTC's speed or lack of for updates ... HTC builds are cranked out faster unofficial or official than any other phone models I own ... Normally I don't care much for official rollouts but as there's no s off working for me atm ,knowing that there is confirmed rollouts coming I'm quite happy to wait ... Definate worth waiting for solid n stable than quick n buggy fota...
Can't wait for this to hit, Mike will have a new base for his Android Revolution HD Rom.
Yes that's fantastic news. Hopefully with the new official Sense 3 ROM, more custom ROMS will be available for us IncS users instead of having devs and cooks port ROMs from other handsets. Perhaps soon we'll have more choice of custom sense ROMs! =)
Yeaa, can't wait. Hope they don't put the project on hold, because of the resources they need for ICS device updates.
Got bored of sense 2.1. The 3d launcher looks amazing.
Does anyone know if the dialer issue got fixed in 2.3.5?

In fact sense 3.5 will use less system resources than sense 3.0 and thats why devices using MSN8255 can get this update
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
Does anyone know the exact differences between Sense 3.0 and 3.5? I've tried both ROMs before and there a few UI changes (e.g the tick and the checkbox is different) and you can jump from dialer to contacts, favorites etc directly from the jog dial and the bottom.

[DEV] Oh hey, Galaxy Nexus full System dump (Ice Cream Sandwich)

Hey guys,
Thanks to Paul O'Brien over at MoDaCo we now have a full system+recovery dump of the Galaxy Nexus running Ice Cream Sandwich.
http://android.modaco.com/page/news/_/android/04-nov-icl23d-galaxy-nexus-boot-recovery-r51
This is really cool.
Wow, hopefully now developers can create ICS inspired custom roms. Cheers!
there's like 10 of these over at the dhd section lol
No ... This is a system dump from the phone ... Not an SDK dump ... This good ...

Where did you hear this?
These are the files you need to port a device. They need to be altered severely to run on the incs. Extreme development knowledge is needed to make use of this. However a developer could grab bits and pieces from it if they have greater knowledge in one area than another.
The ics update will be coming to this and many other htc devices as stated yesterday to myself in a bell store by an htc rep.

but it won't come anytime this year, probably end of Q1 or Q2 2012.

You guys are reading into this way too much.
All they did was give a few obvious ones that would get the upgrade. They never said the rest of their products weren't.

Let me quote myself:
"Right now[...]"
You see? I'm talking about what they've said so far, but what'll happen in the future; sorry, I can't tell and therefore I won't do anything else then hope that HTC will give us an official update to 4.0.
But from what Google said when they showed 4.0, I think that it'll come to the IncS. Sometime.
And to your last part; no, they didn't.
"We’re continuing to assess our product portfolio, so stay tuned for more updates on device upgrades, timing and other details about HTC and Ice Cream Sandwich."
From the same link that I linked in my previous post. So, I'm fully aware of the fact that this only seems to be a preliminary statement from HTC.

I have not tried this yet and will give a try when I am not mobile or atleast play with it a bit.

This is just a piece of the endeavour leak. But this will not give us sense 4.0.
On a side note I did get the endeavor leak to run on my vivid this evening. It's rather nice but I wasn't able to get WiFi,Bluetooth,or ril working so its pretty useless as it is.

After reading that, it appears that it was just a skin for the Sense Clock. Very useless. There is however the Endeavor RUU leak that has full Sense 4.0 and it has already been ported to other HTC devices. In fact, the whole ROM should be somewhat easy to port if what kozmikkick said was true.

ICS roms

Is there any custom ICS roms? sorry for sounding stupid but I cant find any.
Seems like there are 2 available and the developers have moved away from xda. One is made by Pirateghost and called Rum Float: http://blog.androidninjas.com/rom-dev/htc-vivid/rum-float/
The other is made by WildChild and you have to register to see the vivid section here: http://www.wcxxperia-nce.com/

Hi xda,
It would seem that I've jumped into this a little late, but what happened to make all the cooks leave xda and ignore the Vivid, Velocity etc.
Sorry but I've been away from xda for about 12 months while living in Blackberry-land.
I'd really like an ICS ROM for my Velocity without HTC's bastard 'Sense' bloatness.
Also - is getting root access to the Velocity as easy as it was for the HD2?
Cheers;

CM9 port is being worked on. Check the dev thread. Other than that, there are Sense ICS ROM's available, just not many here.. at this point.
As far as what happened, no need to stir up bad memories Look through some of the threads from last month and you'll figure it out. In the mean time, follow the golden rule, and the rules of the forum, and maybe they'll start trickling back in

IMO its the lesser of all evils. Every brand has their own "skin". So even if you prefer AOSP, you might as well get the brand with the best looking and best functioning skin. Of course there is the nexus phones, but those aren't for everyone.

Agreed. I just don't know that I could talk myself into the investment of a device that runs software that I hated, with the possibility of not be able to change it. Granted there are things being worked on now (CM9), but let's be real, this phone was released in November and to this point we haven't seen anything Sense-less (for reasons beyond the dev's control - just got kernel source 10 days ago fcs), it would be very tough for me to buy the device at this point if I hated Sense . I don't know how long shayla's had theirs though...

If you want everything working and good performance, ARHD is it.
Its not the latest in terms of android or sense, but everything is working.

sorry, not trying to annoy you but you can at least read a few pages regarding the bugs in the ROM
i know the dev doesnt always put all the bugs in the first page, but you can always scan the last few pages to see the bugs being reported by others.
@vizzy is not complaining, but he's only telling you the least thing you can do. There are too many ppl asking the same question all over again without searching.
hope you understand ...
regarding roms, i really like MIUI.. you should give it a try
this thread isn't pointless at all. infact I was just looking for a ROM like this - pure ICS/JB, Wifi Hotspot working (don't care too much for MMS)... etc.
I think Ice Cold Sandwich is a good one. Wifi Hotspot defo works, not sure about MMS. There are a couple bugs, like if you update the YouTube app it stops working, but if you leave it at its current version its fine. And its bare ICS, so battery life should be good
There are also a couple of JB ROMS, but I don't think Hotspot works well on those.
