Hello,
there is nothing wrong with my phone, but this is only a question.
my phone was on froyo 2.2 ( official KIES - Xen version )
Did a ROOT, and made a EFS folder backup with Root explorer.
Afther that, i went to darky 7.X. and now i am on darky 8.0. no i am on darky 8.0 i made a EFS backup with this guide: http://www.galaxyroot.com/how-to-efs-folder-backup-restore-nv_data-bin/
Is there any difference between the backups of my EFS folder? i mean, is there any difference between Eclair (2.1) Froyo 2.2 of now the new 2.2.1 rom? Need i to make a new backup of my EFS folder? or is the old one good?

Hi I got to ask a Question,
my SGS I9000 had a branding from o2 Germany, I did not know this fact, I thought I had bought a free SGS.
I updated my SGS to the newest Android 2.2 via Kies, it was pretty laggy so I flashed a Custom Rom [Jim Panse v3.1 Rom]
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844514
btw a very good rom.
Now I want to flash my SGS back to the original o2 Firmware to restore my SalesCode and to get my Software warranty back.
I have my original EFS Folder, which I saved with Root Explorer before I did the update to Jim Panses Rom.
So my Question is, can I downgrade to my original o2 Firmware and replace the EFS Folder with my original EFS Folder via Root Explorer to restore my Sales Code, is that possible?
Good day to all expert
I upgrade my sgs i9000 from darkys 2.3.3 to miui 2.3.4, i noticed IMEI changes from original 053xxxxxxxx to 0409xxxxxxxx so i decided to flash back to darkys 2.3.3 and IMEI returned to its original configuration. Is there any way to fix this issue or I did a wrong procedure in flashing rom.
Please advice
Thanks in advance
could try backing up your EFS folder to your SD card before upgrading and then restoring the back up once your on miui?
what happend when your IMEI number changed?

Hey guys,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S(GT-I9000)
PDA-JV9
Phone-JV5
CSC-JV9
running Android 2.3.3
I want to upgrade to Darky's ROM. What are the tools that I would need?
And what is the exact procedure?
Thanx for your help
You will find all Information on darkyrom site or in the thread in developer section.
Just root your phone. And flash darky trough the darky app that you can find on the market
Its best that you backup as much as possible with "titantium backup" and "smsbackup", put your contacts on the google cloud etc before you do any of this. And you risk "bricking" your phone and loosing all your date. A nandroid backup (from recovery is very useful also).
You will need to use a PC and Odin to root your phone anyway. So you may aswell use Odin (which is inside the zip file) to flash Ficeto's JVT base ROM (which is already rooted) which can be found on the DarkyROM website and fourms. Note: you will loose all your data in doing this, so backup is crucial.
I'd like to start playing around with ROM's for my SGN but I'd like to know if there is a way to make a backup of my current Gingerbread 2.3.6 Stock ROM.
Maybe with PC Odin? Can I dump my current ROM to a flashable file to be able to go back to stock Gingerbread whenever I want?
I'd really appreciate your help. Thank you.
Its called a nandroid
get yourself CWM recovery and then boot into it, Go to back up and job done, It will create a nandroid.
Now all you have to do is boot back into recovery and restore it when you want !
Thank you azzledazzle. I'm very familiar with CWM and Nandroid backups I was thinking that maybe there was another way. Does the Nandroid backups also backup the kernel? or would I have to downgrade to stock GB kernel first if I want to downgrade from ICS?
I do believe it backs up the kernel too, However i wouldnt recommend restoring a GB nandroid from a ICS ROM, I would suggest to flash GB in ODIN, then restore nandroid.
Flashing with odin only takes 5 mins
It might work, restoring from ICS to GB via nandroid, But i havent seen any confirmation on this, and what with the bricking risks and all that, Its better to be safe than sorry !
Thank you again. That makes sense.
One last question... maybe if you don't know someone else might:
Are all Gingerbread kernels the same, I mean are all 2.3.6 kernels the same for all Galaxy Note Stock ROM's regardless of CSC? Or is there a possibility that my current GB 2.3.6 ROM is not "compatible" with one of the existing GB 2.3.6 kernels (in case there is more than one)?
For instance if I go back to my firmware with CSC TTT and install a kernel for say CSC XME, will that work? and which CSC will my phone end up with, TTT or XME?
Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.
Dears,
I have I9000b and somehow I have made a backup of my IMEI and I donĀ“t know how to use this backup to restore it.
I said "somehow" because I forgot how I did this backup.
I have flashed my phone with a ICS version (underground-B-II), after this flash the IMEI went to that famous one ending in "4000".
When I go back to the old version (Gingerbreak 2.3.4) the IMEI is back to normal, so I can make the backup when needed.
The backup I made has generated a file named "galaxys-efsbackup.zip".
My question is, how can I flash or in some other way use this file to recover my IMEI?
Thanks,
