These models are extremely similar to vibrant, has anyone kanged the drivers from them to see if they help get some stuff on CM working?

Not the same phone, so it would be in the wrong forum.
Old news.
These do not work with our phone. Kernels built on this source have the same battery drain as the I9000. The devs already tried.

Not that it really matters anyways since the Official Froyo source is well on it's way...not to mention that an AOSP 2.3 port is also making quite a bit of headway.

CyanogenMod 6.0 has been released and supports Samsung Galaxy S but I am not sure how it will work on the AT&T Captivate. I seem to remember reading that it should work a few weeks ago when it was still in testing but am a little skeptical about installing without confirmation.
Has anyone tried this ROM on a Captivate or T-Mobile Vibrant?
Should have looked on their wiki first.
I'm trying this and will let everyone know how it goes.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I have heard a lot of praises for this ROM in general.
Going to flash this as well.
I am shocked to see the mirror posted. They said it wouldnt be supported until version 6.1 (vibrant). Wes has a Vibrant, and from all ive read that was the galaxy s unit that was being used for c-mod. Although I think I do remember someone getting an I9000, cant remember who though.

I would advise against trying this until CM 6.1

There is no cyanogen for the galaxy s line yet. That guide has been available for quite some time (and seems to just be a template) and even remarks that there is no running version for the galaxy s yet.

Just realized this myself. Definitely waiting until 6.1.

Well I heard the the official Samsung froyo would be coming in early December, at least according to the op in the vanilla captivate thread over in the AD section. According to him he had talked to a Samsung rep at the Galaxy Tab unveiling, I think, but I could be wrong.
How do I check what modem my Captivate is running? I'm pretty new to the Android community so I don't really know much outside of how to install roms.
Go to settings, then scroll down to "about phone", then find the baseband...it's the last three characters...ie: JL4

Thanks for answering to this >2,5 years old question!
No, it's not best to update to the latest version. Different modems work best in different locations.

And using a Modem for another device in the line(Vibrant, i9000, 850mhz i9000, Nexus S, etc...) can be beneficial as well. The i896 Modem have both the Audience Chip and HSUPA, but nobody made a kernel that supported it, so it died out. The modem that came with Cyanogenmod is JL6 I'm pretty sure, which came from a 850mhz i9000, but branded Vibrant(T959)

Yes, one of the first sticky threads in Android Development forum:
【MODEMS】【100+ Captivate I897 ♦ I9000 ♦ CM7/MIUI ♦ ICS】+【Google Location Map】
Has no one got anything on SM-S260DL, this device is great and can really use some support. Please anyone if your able to create a CF Auto Root for SM-S260DL that would be great. I don't understand why I can't find anything for this phone, is there an easy way to network unlock SM-S260DL as well? Any info would be great please guys, I have the stock firmware in case anything goes wrong.
hey,
isn't it possible to port ICS from the normal galaxy s by replacing the GPU, CPU, hsdpa drivers? Correct me if i'm wrong but i think these are the only components which are different right?
posted it here because there isn't a thread on the q&a section for the plus version.
thanks

But still hard
Apologies in advance if this has already been addressed, I searched but couldn't find anything. I vaguely recall there being a version of the KitKat bootloader for the Atrix HD, but can't seem to find it now. Would be interesting to see how dhackers new lollipop builds work on our phone if we do:https://mobile.twitter.com/dhacker29
