NC will not turn on. - Nook Color General

Rebooted Froyo-on-eMMC via ADB and while the charging light goes on, pressing power doesn't restart the device. It's just off and won't turn back on.
Ideas?

You must have somehow corrupted your boot. I did too.
Boot to NF with uSD. dd boot image to mmcblk0p1 and then copy back nookie boot files. Should boot again..

It doesn't even try to turn on that I can see. The screen doesn't even flash.

I have had the same thin happen a couple of times. Not sure if this will help, but press and bold power for 30 seconds or so . . . Release . . . Then press and hold power again until the screen flashes . . . Then release the power and it should boot. Your milage may vary, but like I said it has happened to me a couple of times.

Boot from SD.

[Q] Help! Soft brick on SGH- i957 LTE

I bricked my tablet after I tried to change my font using font installer by jrummy?
It asked me to restart for changes to occur so I figured if I restarted on my own it would work the same way so I hit cancel. I restarted about 1 minute after I hit cancel.
My tablet will boot up to the AT&T "Rethink possible" screen (after the animation).
It will get stuck there with a pattern of light vibrations between a couple seconds each.
Currently running the stock AT&T ics rom posted in the android dev section for i957.
I've tried to boot into recovery but the Samsung screen doesn't come up until I let go of the buttons therefore leading it to reboot again.
Also tried to go into the emergency download mode ( power, up, down) but it didn't work either.
I appreciate all and any advice, please and thank you!
My device is rooted if that wasn't already implied, I will provide any other details if needed, please help!!
Thanks again!
Are you sure you can't get into recovery mode? Hold power and volume up buttons, etc. Does Odin recognize the device?
Do you have a custom recovery, and if so which one, or is it stock.

keep trying to get into download mode or recovery. should be possible. the font change will not affect recovery.
I was also performing a backup with titanium backup when I restarted does that make a difference?
I have clockwork mod recovery.
From experience, I can only go into recovery if the Samsung logo pops up for a milli second and I let go.
I actually haven't tried to see if Odin recognizes my device but I assumed if I couldn't go into download mode it wouldn't.

Were you restoring apps from a honeycomb Rom? That will cause a soft brick.

If you can get into recovery do a factory reset. That should get you out of a soft brick. You'll have to re-install your apps though.

Didnt see if you worked your way out of this or not. You may have to hold 3 finger salute (power, up, down) for up to 16 seconds. My guess is that covers the 8 seconds to reboot through any hang up plus up to 8 more to boot to menu.
Still no luck, the computer is not detecting my tablet.
I also wasn't restoring, I was just backing up my data. I'm letting it charge for now, anyone know what else I should do?
I really can't enter recovery OR download.
**** UPDATE****
Okay guys I finally fixed it. Will post details if anyone is still interested.
I'd be interested in the details.

I couldn't go into download mode until I did some weird trick with the buttons.
I had to hold the 3 buttons ( power, vol up, vol down) for a couple seconds.. like 6 seconds
THEN hold power and vol up for 2 secs
THEN back to power, vol up, vol down.
I did it by accident cuz I was frustrated but it ended up working so all is good
Thanks for all the help guys!!

Weird Reboot + Power Button problem

I tried to find similar threads but didn't find something related to the problem I have, So here we go:
My GSM and I were having a happy life using [CM7.2][MiniScape v1.6] without problems. One day I decided to flash the Lewa lite MultiLanguage and everything changed.. At first boot the phone was normal, fast and without problems but then, Wild reboots appeared for unknown reason. After some hours thinking, I figured out that it was the Power Button.
When I press the power button (normal press) it doesn't lock & turn off the screen, but appears the power menu and after a few seconds: the phone gets a reboot. If the phone is off and I connect the charger, the charge animation appears for a few secs and then the phone boot normally (like if I wanted to turn it on).
I did the following:
Wiped data/cache in CWM and flashed back the [CM7.2][MiniScape v1.6] but the problem persisted.
Wiped again And Then formated data, cache, system partition and flashed [CM7.2][MiniScape v1.6] again but I were having the same problem
I haven't used ODIN yet because I want to know why is this happening. If the power button were hard pressed or something, the phone would turn on whenever the phone is off with battery, right?
What is your opinion about this?
It looks like the button is stuck.

I was going to do that.. But magically the problem disappeared.. I did wipe and format the partitions again and flashed the rom normally, and The problem with the button was fixed.. I also tried installing the Lewa Multilenguage and worked without problems.. The phone works fine now (and If the problem were still there, I would have used the lock & power off statusbar buttons). But I'm really curious about this.. I mean, what could have happened? It seems to be a software issue..(?)

Try an ruu. I don't think that flashing a wrong recovery can cause a hard brick. If it shows the charging light the hboot is ok (I think). Try this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2460013

ya i tried the ruu and because the phone is not even registering on the computer it wasnt possible. thanks for the input tho. i cant even get to hboot. i know if i had hboot its possible to get things going. im just out of ideas and never had a phone beat me...till now.
I don't thing flashing the wrong recovery could brick your phone either unless you flashed it to the wrong partition.
Can you post the command you used when you flashed it?
Ok, you have to fly blind here to fix it. With the phone completely powered off you need to do vol down and power like you were booting to bootloader. Phone vibrates, screen is still blank but trust me, it's in hboot now...... Now just press the power button once, even tho you see nothing it's now in bootloader. Open up cmd prompt and do fastboot devices. You will see it is registering. You can either run a ruu, or flash a proper recovery image from there. Your choice.

tried this a few times...no luck
sigh...that was an expensive mistake.
If it gets a charge light, it's not bricked. If it was just a improper recovery it shouldn't brick. I can see not having a screen display but it's not bricked. Recovery partition is one of the very last partitions in the boot chain and hboot isn't corrupted. Keep trying to get into hboot with no display........ It's there

ive done a bit more playing around and the light doesnt turn off when unplugged...it just stays on. it was flashing earlier but is solid again. never turns green either. i gave up.
Have you tried the trick of trying to power on while holding it under a bright light? Just throwing it out there may or may not make any difference.

i did see that and i was like "huh?!?!" yes i tried that...im glad no one saw me because i think it may be one of those tricks on noobs lol kinda like telling the freshman in high school that the pool is on the roof(we didnt have a pool lol)
When you hold the power button do the cap. Lights ever start blinking at all?
Added: also, I had some bad info above. When trying to get into hboot, if the phone vibrates, it's already moved past hboot. So maybe try holding power and volume down for 6-8 seconds, let off, then press power button once. If it vibrates, you need to power it down and try again.....sorry

Holding power + home doesn't bring up recovery either?
You'd then need to adb flash the recovery or make an sdcard bootable and put the sdcard recovery on there which would then be started by the device and then you can fix from there. Go with the one you have already available first.

no ive tried holding power + home but all it does is turn off the nook and i have tried using a bootable sd card but the nook doesnt seem to want to boot up on that either. As of using adb i have tried to use it but it will not connect to the device for me to flash anything to it. It may be to my lack of experience using adb or fastboot.

You are holding power too long. Hold power and n together for a few seconds releasing power first followed by releasing n. It should boot to recovery (either stock or CWM).

Your emmc is messed up. I suggest you go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread and make a new bootable CWM SD per item 1a and then use that to install a plain stock zip from item 6. That should repair the files on emmc and you can start over with CM11.
Sent from my BN NookHD+ using XDA Premium HD app
If you mess up the internal emmc recovery, your nook will behave exactly as described.
(trust me, I've been there).
The cure is to (re)flash a working recovery from a sdcard recovery.
Some people complain that it's hard to get their device to boot from sdcard.
Sometimes it helps to plug in your nook to entice it to boot from sd.

[Q] CM11 - never boots?

I've been using CM11 for quite some time now on my 16gb HD+. I've updated the nightly several times before. The other night I downloaded & installed the latest nightly. ( I think it was cm-11-20140512 from cyanogenmod )
Now I can't get past the loading. When I put in the SD card with the recovery on it, it sits there and hangs on "Cyanoboot universal bootloader". When I don't have the SD card in, it sits there and hangs saying "Nook".
Any suggestions on how to fix this? Is there a way to completely reset it or something?

I had trouble getting a couple of the recent nightly updates to boot, but the most recent nightly update works okay. I had to reinstall a good build from recovery mode, but I have recovery installed on my Nook instead of on the SD card.
Erm... that doesn't really help me since I can't get it to boot into recovery.

Yes, I have. It hangs at the screen that I mentioned before.
When I hold the power button down on the hang it turns the nook off, so I can't "hold the power button down + n, see the CM logo, release power, and hold it again" like it says on how-to guide.

It is sounding like you have a bricked emmc. A bricked emmc will boot neither emmc or an ordinary bootable SD since even that needs some of emmc working. Search for verygreen's noemmc posts and see if you can get it working with his modified files.
