[Q] Legend bricked while rooting? - Legend Android Development

Hi guys, I need a big help.
I was following the Modaco procedure to downgrade the Htc Legend from Froyo, unfortunately while i was in windows' terminal and I typed crackin.bat the terminal replied me c---rw---- 1 1001 2002 90, 0 jul 19 16:19 /dev/mtd/mtd0
I tried to restart my device, then to clearing the phone to factory settings but now my device doesnt' get a signal from my operator, i tried to move the sim card to another phone and it works.
Did i brick my device?
How i can solve this situation?
Thanks in advacnce

No questions in development! We have a perfectly good general section for that.

i'm sorry, could you move it to the right section or i must open a new thread?
thx

ADB-Shell, what is that?

Hi!
Although I am not new in fixing/flashing WM phones, android is a new thing for me!
So I am trying to do the SD-card / lag fix, and I have done everything to the point where I have to enter the commands in adb-shell or any other shell!
The problem is, how do I get to the adb-shell?
Thanks in advance!

Thanks man but I think it is wrong Rom cause it is rebooting to recovery mode I c sign with exclamation mark and my phone stays in this screen for ever

Try pressing the power button and the volume up button at the same time while you're in stock recovery. When the option appears, go to "Apply update.zip" with the update linked earlier. You'll need to rename it to update.zip first, though.
If it works, go and find Visonary+ from the rooting thread and temproot, then re-do the rooting procedure. Afterwards, you should be able to flash a custom ROM. I suggest blay0's if you like the Sense UI. Otherwise, CyanogenMod 7 RC2 is amazing.
Thanks
Will give it a try

Why not try it yourself?
@Gobczak, if HBOOT 1.00 phones work the same as 1.01, then you shouldn't need the froyo update. Follow the guide from the link ThauExodus posted. After successfully flashing the LEGEIMG.zip file, just move straight on to part 3 - downgrading. It worked for me.
did u ment part 3 rooting??
i tried not workind
first lashing and then set one my phone hangs at htc sign
so i flashed again and tried to root using only step3 from r4 did not work again
do u have uk vodaphone legend??

No I have an AU VF Legend.
This is what I did (on win7):
STEP 1: Make Goldcard
a) Put card in card reader, open command prompt and type:
Code:
format [drive letter]: /FS:FAT32 <enter>
where [drive letter] is the drive letter of the card. Did it this way as there seemed to be trouble using the usual format tool. Think it was just user error though.
b) Put card back in phone, and follow the first part of the guide exactly to make the goldcard.
STEP 2: Follow the second guide exactly, up to the point where it says:
Phone will reboot and find LEGEIMG.zip on your sdcard, copy it into RAM and check it.
Click to collapse
Here, I had to use up/down volume buttons to highlight the "recovery" option then press power button. Phone will then attempt to read the LEGEIMG.zip file. Now if it works it will print messages at the bottom of the screen about loading the file etc. But if it just prints a few lines very quickly and then goes away, try reading what it says. If it says something like: "no image or wrong image", either LEGEIMG.zip isn't in the root of the card, or the card isn't a proper goldcard. Fix those problems (remake goldcard etc).
STEP 3: Follow the third part of the guide - downgrading/rooting.
Now, here I ran into another problem that seems to work ok for everyone else. When I ran the 'step1-windows.bat', it would freeze when it was at the "Writing zip..." part, and I had to remove the battery from the phone to turn it off and try again. This kept happening, and a few people said to just try running the 'step2-windows.bat' file and forget about the first one. This worked.
So after that I had a rooted Legend. Why I had problems at certain points of the guide when no-one else seems to, I don't know.
the whole problem was the gold card
thank u mate

[Q] Please i need help unrooting

so usually when there is a problem with my phone and i have to bring it in to the sprint store i download the the update from htc website and it unroots it easily. now my phone is having problems sending and receiving calls also texts and i want to unroot. but i keep the message that i need to check to see if the usb is connected to the computer and the phone and it definitely is i don't know what to do please some help in this issue. i'm running cm7 on my sprint cdma hero
I'm not understanding that last part. So you can't RUU it because your phone is not being recognized by the computer?

i would think so, but when i connect the usb i am able to copy files from the computer to my phone, but when i run the RUU i get the message that says i should check to see if the usb is connected to the computer and the phone
when you run the ruu is your phone only charging, or are you mounting it? if you're mounting it, don't. also try a different cable. also you could try downloading and installing htc sync maybe and see if it updates your drivers.

Well it would be nice if you would post how you fixed it. You posted asking for help with your problem and you received it. Now what if some other member has the same problem.??? Your post could potentially help someone in the future. XDA is all about gaining knowledge and sharing that knowledge as well.

would this be of any help you will need to be very carefull using the instructions
hi thanks I have used this way it has removed the sim lock but now it says no network. even wheni check with the *# commands it says off
Hi I had the same issue after i unlocked mine but can't remember if resetting the phone sorted it or whether flashing a new rom fixed it. Try wiping cache and data from recovery [hold home button and power on]
ops think I bricked it with cwm here comes a lot of Googling
:banghead:
can you access the download mode?
do you mean the factory one
by powering off the hold down volume down and home button and try to power on? you should get the yellow triangle with downloading under it.
if you can get into this screen you should be able to reflash a new rom or your old one?
will try that thanks the only life I have got from it so far is that my PC can see it on USB so hoping to flash new recovery and rom via PC
can't get it to charge from USB no life at all now
check this site out there may be some help there?

Please Help!!!!

hey guys,
thanks for the post and the info. I am hoping I can get some help. I recently upgraded to a new ATT - HTC Vivid. I guess I was impatient in wanting to root and flash ROM so I used the [TOOL] HTC Vivid All-In-One Toolkit V2.2 to "un-lock bootloader" and get root. Afterwards I realized the phone had/has old software/rom (no ICS beats audio etc) - I tried updating the software manually and it would not take - kept getting error messege. Then I got notification that ATT/HTC was trying to "push" the update to my phone but when I tried to install the update it would not work. I keep getting what looks like a dead android with chest open with red exclamation point. I tried a few times and still nothing. so after some research I came across this thread. I am still a "noob" at this I guess so I could really use some help, please. I believe I have to "re-lock bootlaoder" but I am confused as to how to go about this. for example, how do you, "TRY FLASHING THE WCXRECOVERY.IMG USING FASTBOOT FIRST?" - please help! lol like I said - I'm still a noob I guess
I tried the video but it only further confused me

please help!!!! I really need it. I tried using your tutorial to re-lock my Vivid and update ROM to ICS. I got through the first part where I re-locked the phone ut when I got to the part to "unlock" again before flashing recovery I get the "Unlock bootloader" screen and I use volume button to select yes and hit power button but that's it - it's stuck at that scree and will not go further. now my phone won't start normally if I try etc and I even got a red exclamation etc - Please help, I dont know what I did wrong but now I have no phone!!!!!
Thanks a bunch for any and all help

It'll be easier to get your phone to fastboot mode and enter this command from your PC to relock:
fastboot oem lock
Yeah you can't update with a unlocked bootloader just relock and your all good
