im not sure if this is a repost but check out this app...it has over 300 free flash games you can download. For some reason google banned this app from the marketplace so you have to go download it from their website, google kongregate android.
Well, I've also been playing those games directly from my phone's browser (Miren) and it works!
Works great
Id find out why it was banned before installing it. Just my 2c
It's back on the market now.
Not on market
I run KAOS Froyo 2.2.1 and when I search the market, it is not there.
anyone have the original apk that allows to install flash games to sd card? or that one doesn't work anymore because they updated the app?
Just wait 5minutes, I'll post the original here.
edit:
Okay you can download the original (January 18/v1.0.8) apk from this site:
http://www.getjar.com/mobile/53364/kongregate-arcade-for-samsung-gt-i9000-galaxy-s/?s=phones
It is completely free, and this is the version that got banned from the Android Market.
Google say it is like an AppStore within the Android Market and I agree, but it is an awesomely free one with great titles!
And I still stand behind my reasoning that this "App" or "AppStore" wasn't threatening/damaging the Market in any way ... infact it was doing the exact opposite by bringing more titles to the Android platform (and enticing iOS/WP7 customers).
Why this older version is better than the new one (on the Android Market) is because it has the "offline mode". It automatically downloaded the flash games to your internal/SD card ... thus you don't need to constantly waste your time, money and internet allowance on re-downloading it again and again.
The new one sucks because it has no "offline mode" instead it tries to save the games to your browsers cache. I've noticed from experience once you have about a dozen or more games cached, the performance of the Android browser becomes slower. In fact, it pretty much overloaded mine, and the froyo system "fixed" the problem by clearing it automatically; making me lose my previous data and the games. I also think by exhausting the cache, this might cause faster battery drain from your device.
Here's a quick note, try to run as few Apps as possible when trying to play these flash games. This thing will cripple older/slower devices, and will give newer ones a lot of stress. If you do not close all the Apps, that's fine it might run a little slower, but make sure you definitely close down any internet browsers or Apps that use/stress the Flash 10.1 resources. Also, you can control which directory the games will be downloaded to (either to internal or to SDcard), so choose depending on your personal space needs. (I'm using a Galaxy S I9000 with stock froyo)
If you download from another source and want to test if its the original (superior) version, you can do so by:
Downloading/Opening/Playing any game (eg Ink Ball). Then exited the app and disable any internet connections (switch on Flight mode). Re-open the App. Try playing the same game (eg Ink Ball) ... if it enters/resumes (congrats you have the original version) otherwise it will come with a note about getting an internet connection.
Go GameStop for making this available again!

When I first installed it (after it was removed from Market), there was around ~320 games available.
I've checked today, and there is 338 games available.
So yes, and I hope they will keep it that way
Its not allowing to download for Captivate, does anybody has the apk or zip file, if so please share the link

Hello all, i just bought an android G1 from a friend, when it came it was already installed cyanogen mod, then i thought it should of rooted, (by the way i dont know how to root or how to check if its rooted) i am very new on this platform so i have many problems and questions but for now , i tried to change google account which was my frends account to use g1 with all 100 percenti but i couldnt find any proper way to switch my google account, then i finally found hard reset thing and did it, after all i could log on my google on my g1 and i felt a bit shocked with all those missing parts on the android platform as a winmo user before, even my HTC artemis had better skills on internet browsing such flash support over skyfire and easy wifi DNS change and have free web browsing without banned pages.. anyways i was trying to install some games and apps from the market till i got the notification of low memorry ohhh ****, its a nightmare to have hundreds of apps but no place to install, how stupid but then i found a solution on the net to help installin apps directly to your sd card, while i was following this steps on the xda forum pages, i restarted my fone again after having the img file launched with 1.4 version, then i realized all my installed apps icons were lost, then i saw they were gone from my g1 but when i go to app store, they are still on my downloaded programms list, but they are not in storage, thats becase now i cant install them again because they are seen already installed, how can i fix this problem guys , and thanks for the help already.!!!!!!1
Hey, thanks for steppin' up! No matter how snarky I get, or how nice I am, some people just don't get it. It's always great when someone does get it.
If you have a cyanogenmod, then you have root.
How can i get my apps back from the market when they show apps are already installed?
I guess I'd uninstall and reinstall from within the Market App. Open "Market," click on a listing of an app that says it's installed but you can't see in your app drawer (the program for the Home screen and app drawer is call Launcher.apk... apk is the equivalent of exe, more or less). on the bottom of the screen there should be two buttons, Open and Unistall. I'd uninstall and reinstall the ones you want that way.
Yeah, I miss WinMo, too. I still use PhatPad in my old phone and PC. But the capacitive screen really is nicer for fingers, and I'm more addicted to XDA and hacking phones than I am to having a hard-core useful phone (although the native ouTube App beats any I've found for WinMo, and I actually use the native contacts app). I got tired of the bugs, too, since they'd hose the whole OS and force you to decide to reboot. Android just blows past an error and lets it not work, but keeps the OS up. When I'd run out of memory or something in WinMo on an incoming call, the phone would freeze, and then there's a 3 minute reboot. In Android, it just slows down so I get less ring time to answer, but I can call back right away, and it boots in two minutes.
Java makes really nice interfaces and games, too.
I think it'll be about a year or so and Android will be running on par with WinMo (WinPh?) with Flash and alternative browsers apps, and has a few more things to offer that other smartphone OS's can't. It's fun finding them. It's been really exciting watching the progress, and how hard people work for little or no money, just because it's open source.
Oh, and PhatPad was $44. My current Note app, NoteEverything was $2. I miss the stylus and making animations, but that's it. I certainly don't miss Activesync.
yes you are right, but the buttons in the market of that application, are both missing, inactive, you cannot click both of them, thats why i cant uninstall or install or open the app.. i still wonder how to clear the app store cache without factory reset or hard reset which is a really long way to follow.
I've just recently updated to The JH2 build for the captivate and was wondering why certain apps may not show up in the market.
The one's that I can't seem to redownload are Square, Calorie Counter by Fatsecret, and My Work Schedule.
I can probably sideload them if need be, but I'm worried about what new apps I could be missing in the market. Also, Market Enabler is set to T-Mobile, and all carriers showed the same apps as "not found."
Yup, I noticed this too. I can't get Homerun Battle 3D nor Text Bomber.. I paid for both

That's because it's a beta ROM...It also has logging turned on so if you use your GPS it will store all the data and create a huge log file taking up lots on memory.. They also disabled USB tethering in to..You would be better off flashing back to the JF6 Stock ROM...

Good to know. Other than that, there are no benefits?
Right, got myself a galaxy, brilliant phone, battery life still appaling (just switched off of HTC Touch Pro ).
Now i dont have any illusions on running wm6 apps on android, but i'm pretty sure something can be done about j2me.
I have loads of games from my motorola razor times and would like to revisit them. Particularly DoomRPG and that other game with elves and orcs...
Tl;dr: Any way to run j2me stuff on android 2.1?
Yes, you actually can. There's a wrapper for JAVA applications. Not all of them work, but most games do.
It even has a virtual "keypad", but it's kinda buggy and you have to mess around in the options for it. There's multiple virtual controller options and some work better than others.
AFAIK, it's not available on the market, but you can download it from the official site: http://www.netmite.com/
How do you install your own midlets onto SGS ? the app only lets me dl it off the net... or is it just me ?
While it seems that the APP only allows you to play with games on their list, that's not the case.
I personally upload the .JAR to a website I own and then I select them browsing the internet on my phone. It downloads the game and installs automatically (like a regular .apk).
I don't know if you can just copy the .jar to the phone memory and run it from there. I believe you have to download from the Internet, as selecting it from a file browser simply says that there's nothing to open that filetype. When downloading from a homepage, the browser opens up the application and it auto-installs to you.
I bought the viewsonic g-tablet. I was thinking of flashing to a rom like vegan mainly to get the android market.
I was wondering though. Say I keep it as stock OS.
Can I download the apps with my pc from the android store and then copy and paste the apk files onto the tablet or onto a sd card and install it onto the tablet that way?

No, you can not download from the Market to your PC, only to an Android device that has Market access.
Sometimes you can find apps on websites (the developers site, this site, etc.) that you can download to your PC and then move over. Other sites hosting files...well some have been hosting modified apps that are infected with viruses so make it much riskier to install.

What's the appeal of the stock ROM? Its terrible in my opinion. Flash a custom ROM and you'll never look back. Plus you won't have to hassle with finding apps outside of the official channels and trying to track down a new .apk file when updates are made.
Alternatively, you could use the Amazon App Market instead of Google's. Not nearly the same but at least it's something.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I am not sure what stock rom you had, but I love the 1.2-4349 interface. I love how you have the big widgets that give you weather, news, clock, email etc. I also like how all your other apps are beautifully lined below. I've tried other custom ROM's and I keep on coming back to stock.
The only downside of stock is the lack of gmarket. Once Viewsonic fixes this, then stock is the way to go
To me, the stock TnT UI looks like an alarm clock.
Have you tried vtl launcher? Gives you the same app scrolling ability on the bottom.
+1 VTL is great. Load your favorite apps in a scroll on the bottom or sides or both. Have 1 h ((ome screen or 7. Its totally customizable. Mountain laurel ( TnTLite 5 based off 4349) at least increases speed, stability, refresh rate on the screen ( you will notice the difference between 52 and 60hz), connectivity and has market . Give it a shot. Roebeet put some serious effort into it and you can find it with a quick Google search. (Its hosted on another site) Or follow the link in goodintentions signature and look under roms.
There's a tut from Lifehacker that explains the process of installing an android emulator onto your pc & then enabling the Android Market. From here you would simply download your app & then locate the folder with the stored apk.
It takes a bit of work but from what I can gather it should work.
I have the link but I'm not to sure if I can post it.
There are ways to get a working market without installing a new ROM.
+1 for VTL launcher. I think the screen shots of Launcher Pro are even better looking, but I'm too cheap.

I will bet you my g-Tablet that Viewsonic is never going to fix this.
It's not terribly difficult to get the Google Android Market working on the stock firmware.

Check this post to see how I added GAPPS/Market to my stock 4349 ROM.
http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/apps/forums/topics/show/5179881-how-i-added-gapps-market-to-a-stock-1-2-4349-gtab
I did this on 2 gTabs before I finally upgraded them to Calkulin+Clemsyn v6 (I'd recommend this ROM/kernal combo) as it is more stable and is "much faster" than the stock 4349 (it's overclocked to 1.5Ghz). If you decide to do this, Contacts "will" no longer work (it force closes whenever you try to open it). That was the only problem I encountered.

Sorry. I was referring to the stock 4349 with GApps/Market installed causes a force close with Contacts, not Calkulin+Clemsynv6.
Don't have Weather Bug installed, but the Waether app & News & Weather apps both work fine.
Sorry this way a duplicate
Hello,
I have with me an app I would like to share with the HD2, and XDA community which I previously found on the Google Market which now doesnt exist anymore.
I managed to copy out the APK and I will attach below.
The app is good for
Listing all your installed apps quickly so you can remove them
Smooth scrolling
Sort by Name/Size/Last Installed/Install Location
Search
Just needs to build cache during first launch, and doesnt work on LANDSCAPE, which are the only disadvantages of it.
I personally use the Last Installed sorting mechanism, to view all the last installed and remove. I install quite a number of apps and usually when I found that it sucked, I enter this app quickly and remove them (latest apps appear on top of the list)
I have been using this since 2.2 FROYO and it doesnt seem to give errors back then. On GB 2.3, I noticed an occasional error message :
[Opps Sorry I got error ] but this doesnt stop it from uninstalling the application.
I have given this app rigorous testing and it has survived 2.2+ and 2.3+ Androids application removal, whether it produces errors or not.
I also noticed that this app has been removed from the Google Market, without reason from the developer / Google. Hence I would not mention anything about future release or support, neither do I know whether it would damage your device/ operating system but I certainly ONLY been using this app to remove applications and it has been TREMENDOUSLY awesome. Give it a try, and let me know whether you found similiar apps in terms of speed, features and outlook.
Credits to its developer, which I remember to be known as MINIGUY after a few Googles. I also couldnt find this application anymore hence I am posting it here
If this has been posted before I apologize.
Dont forget to click the THANKS button if you found this app useful
On another note, this applications is FREE and is not WAREZ
It sounds like appsaver.. is it better?

i think ive tried appsaver but this is an app that lists out all your apps pretty quickly and lets u just choose to uninstall them
its like add/remove programs, but way way faster than anything ive tried especially 200 apps
default manage applications takes nearly 15 seconds to load, while this takes 1-2 seconds, tops
Thanks for the app. I will give it a try! :0)
I realized that this application was ripped and published as someone else's work as follow up
its called "Uninstaller" in market , which uses the same error message, logo, text, font, settings, buttons, icons
you are free to use both as they produce the same results and same settings
