Hello people!
How many of you out there are using screen protectors?
If you do, how much do you pay for a piece of flat plastic?
If you do not, how are your screen doing?
About 2 scratches for a half year of working. Don't think this is big price for better response from touchscreen without protector.
Didn't have one until scratched it. 2 nasty stripes along my screen, think i had tattoo and my old nokia in same pocket...sharp edges of my nokia did not like my new phone's screen.
Screen protector slightly cloaks the scratches and prevents new ones i guess. Barely noticeable.
costs pennies in UK ebay.
I buyed 15 pieces from China shipped (cheaper with 3 x 5). I think they costed me about half a USD. You can just see it on the screen if you look very good. You may notice the edges of the protector. But the colors of the screen and quality is just the same, i cannot see any difference. Before this, I used another protector for 1 USD. The problem was:
1. Production fault. A big square cutted in the middle of the protector. It should have been on the other layer, that actually is garbage.
2. "Wadda heck happened to your screen?!"
3. Colors were absorbed buy the plastic and so was some of the brightness.
But this new one, half the price, is just NEAT!

Screen Protector
Hi,
I bought 6 screen protectors for £ 1.95 on ebay.
I never had risks on my screen, but the digitizer already broke two times in two years, but fortunately I still have warranty.
I think one year from now I'll have to buy a digitizer (around £ 5 on ebay).
I used to buy protectors 3 for 5 USD or something on ebay (always the same seller) but I lost 4 of them when re-innovating the flat and now I'm fed up and don't use any protectors any more
Matte protectors are ok,
Mirror protectors provided a distorted reflection and made looking at the screen in sunlight nearly impossible.
And I haven't tried the privacy protectors.
Specific for tattoo with anti-glare: 0.37$ each or same model without anti-glare: 0.25$, and the more i buy the less i spend.
Made in china and low shipping, of course

Hi everyone, I got the S6 Edge and I really enjoy it, this is for me the best smartphone ever regardless the price ^^
As we all know, the S6 and S6 edge are protected by the last Corning solution : The Gorila Glass 4. This one is great against scratches and damages according to some videos on youtube.
So I was wondering if we really need a screen protector - due to the expensive price for a GOOD one which covered all the two curved parts. I can't imagine to put one without having the two edges parts uncovered : , I've already done this to my NOTE EDGE and trust me this is really ugly

http://www.mobilefun.com/53060-olix...ge-tempered-glass-curved-screen-protector.htm
Did someone already have scratches on his S6 or S6 EDGE ?
what do you guys think about the resistance of the Gorilla Glass 4 ?
To sum it up, what do you advice me to do ?
Thanks a lot , kind of i'm getting a little bit confused with that
i think you will always get micro scratches over time, i dont use cases find them ugly and in the way but its always a risk, i myself will be getting a tempered glass front and back when they are available
There was scratches on the demo units at the launch event...any screen will scratch even GG4. It comes down to whether it will bother you if it does scrtach, and if you're willing to take the risk?

Do you need a screen protector, the answer is depends on how much you like your screen. The cost to replace the screen is $200 the cost to replace a tempered glass screen protector is $20-40 depending on the device. The Amzer Kristal product is still in mfg and will be here (soon) when its ready. For now I have a simple clear screen protector, but glass is always better.
BTW, my co-worker and his wife both have iphone 6+, she didn't think she need a glass screen protector, well she dropped hers and yup broke the screen, $200 later new screen, then a week later and still no glass screen protector, my co-worker used her phone and set it down on the kitchen counter and it missed, and yup another shattered display and another $200 spent. Now she has a screen protector, I had a spare around since I sold my iphone 6+ for a Galaxy S6 Edge 128GB.

Thanks for answering guys !
I took a microfiber and cleaned the screen .... it's already a little bit scratched : OMG
I'll buy a protector screen tomorrow
The GG4 is definitely built for damages not really for scratches ...... :crying:
I have to have a screen protector on even if it's this ****ty translucent orange peel that they call Skinomi until a true tempered glass comes out. If I even notice a tiny scratch I'll looking at it constantly

Maybe, maybe not ..........
My S$4 was just retired with a well scratched plastic protector. It was plastic and scratched easily. Now with it removed I have a nice new looking phone that isn't being used (after taking the protector off). I suppose if I sell it used that will be worth something. My point is that if you use plastic, you will be replacing the protector once or twice a year or living with a badly scratched protector because they scratch easily. A glass protector will last longer, but likely isn't as scratch proof as the Gorilla glass so it too may need to be replaced once or twice before you retire or sell the phone. I don't drop my phone often so haven't gone to that expense ... a rubber or silicone case around the phone protects the screen from breakage because the phone most likely will land on an edge and that breaks the screen rather than a hit to the screen itself. That protection is more valuable than a screen protector from a breakage standpoint when it comes to dropping. Even a screen protector won't help if you sit on your phone. I don't plan on a screen protector for my S6. I'm going to enjoy having a clear screen and take care of it. I did well with the S4 and will do even better with the S6.
XtremeGuard offers great deals on glass and ghost armor type screen protectors. Usually the deals range from 70 to 80% off. The bad thing? Quality of the product is concerning.
I've been buying from them for a while now. I ordered a full set for my G4 so it would arrive before I got the phone. I ordered the full body protection and a glass screen protector. They came in the mail after a week or two. First thing I noticed was I was sent 4 screen protectors and no back protector. I didn't understand why they would send four screen protectors until i tried to put them on. The protector is about a quarter inch too long for the screen. It hangs off the bottom of the phone. The glass protector also doesnt fit. It fits about half inch into the screen so there's a large gap all the way around.
I contacted Customer service who was quick to send out replacements... Of the same product. So two weeks later I receive the same protectors with the same problems.
tl;dr
Screen protectors don't fit and Customer service doesn't care. You get what you pay for.
I have the glass screen protector from them... Fits fine.
The protector shouldn't be edge to edge, if it is, you can't use a case.
However, i did order 2, and I'm glad i did. The edges had some tear out issues. Very minor, but i like a completely bubble free fit.
I've been using These guys since my original optimus g. The two times I've had even the smallest issue they've been very fast about sending me replacements; including this time.

The protectors I had for my g2 and g3 were nearly edge to edge. This one fit up to the top speaker and to the bottom of the LG logo on the bottom. I have a case for the phone and it's still a gap between the case and the glass screen protector.
Had three. For the G3, SGS4 and Nexus 7 (bought in one order).
All three abysmal. Refund for all. Never again.
I had them on several flagship phones. I never had an issue with them.

I had IQShield screen protectors for the LG G4 and it works fine.
I've had mixed results with the screen protectors they sell, I Only order from them when I have a 80-90% off promo code. Their customer service is usually top notch and the screen protectors are a great buy at 90% off ( full price is 49 bucks for a tempered glass one).

Xtremeguard Protectors LG G4
I ordered the normal screen protectors which seem to fit pretty well. I also ordered the "Spartan" tempered glass protector which did not seem to fit correctly as the shape didn't seem to fit well with the G4 while also having redundant cutouts, say for Flash and/camera on the top edge. In addition to that, it blocks the earphone speaker. Overall I think I was sent the wrong glass screen protector... Sent customer service a message so we'll see how that goes.
I ordered from this site, I was not too impressed with the quality of the items I received. Luckily it was all purchased during their Black Friday sale and everything was real cheap. Did not spend too much money!
I enjoy them when they are 92% off. I find their tempered glass to be pretty sufficient. Now their wet install type, front and back, used on my droid maxx. Made a few cases fit too tightly. But it was self healing.
Their hd dry install ones are hit or miss....they can interfere with cases. So if u are going to use the phone with an otterbox defender....i'd probably say get a tempered and remove the built in one.
I have used xtremeguard polyurethane skins for a long time now. They were never the best quality but they supported the most devices and were cheap at doing it. You don't even need to worry about the sales, if you buy anything new just go to xtremeguards ebay store and everything there is around $1.99 shipped.
About the only issues is during manufacturing when it gets rolled, something can make almost microscopic vertical (the line is always up and down, never at an angle) lines. Most people would never see them.
Is this to be expected or is this just a crap screen protector? I paid $40 for this thing because I forgot to order one with my phone, it was the only Nexus 5X protector I could find in a 50 mile radius. I put it on properly (bathroom after shower, hinge method), I'm using a case as well. I dropped it about a foot onto the floor today and the corner is smashed, glass shards falling out. Guess what the "lifetime warranty" doesn't cover?
This is the first glass protector I've had so I don't know if this is common for not. Of course they say it's designed to break as it takes the impact force away from the screen. So they're engineered to fail basically? I wouldnt mind as much if it had lasted longer than 6 days, I definitely didn't get my money's worth! I've never broken a screen with the plastic ones I've been using for years so I'm probably not going to use glass again, unless someone can show me a good one
I know a lot of people like the glass screen protectors, but I've had bad luck with them. I had good quality protectors on a DSLR and a phone, and they both "just broke" within a month. The folks who like these things all say, "See, it saved your device's screen!" Well, I don't buy it. Like the OP, I've never had a lick of trouble with screen damage while using a plastic screen protector.
I think it's all just ingenious marketing. They break, and the owner then declares it a good thing (saved my device!) and buys another.

You got ripped off if you paid $40 for a screen protector.

I broke my Spigen tempered glass screen protector a couple of days ago too. It wasn't related to any impact that I could tell, I just picked up my phone one day and there was a small chip/crack near the center of the screen.
I replaced it with another of the same type, but if it breaks again I'm going back to PET.

Ikr, it was either buy one for way too much or not use the phone because I refuse to touch the bare screen with my dirty filthy hands lmao ? I just ordered the spigen crystal plastic 3 pack for 12 on amazon.
Pleson glass screen protector with Cruzerlite case user here. I've dropped my phone with that setup probably a handful of times and have had no problems. Had a different brand glass screen protector and same case for my GS5 for the 1.5 year I had it and no problems with that as well. I've never spent more than $10-$15 on the screen protectors.

I use a glass screen protector on my 5x, my girlfriend uses one for her iPhone. I've never cracked any of my phones' screens, nor have I cracked my glass screen protector (this is my first device with one). My girlfriend has broken her current iPhone's screen twice. So I made her get a glass screen protector to see if that'd help. Went a month before hers cracked from dropping it. But saved getting the screen replaced! I think they're worth it...

If you pay more than $5 for tempered glass, you're gonna have a bad time. They are all literally the exact same thing.
That being said... It alllllll depends on how it hits. OP, sounds like you just had it in a sweet spot.
Worst case anyways, screen assemblies are going for $60 if you know where to source the part. LG phones are super quick and easy to fix.
$40 is too expensive for me,many brands are avaliable and you really don't need pay so much!As far as i know, lifetime warranty dosen't cover"abnomal use",if your protector have halo effects or bubbles during installation etc, sellers will arrange a new one for you without hesitate.
I know op is a bit old by now and it's already been said, but $40 for a tempered glass screen protector was a huge ripoff.
On amazon they are 6-10 max. I've got a few different brands and they are all the same - meaning they are probably just bought by different companies for their own rebranding.

The biggest difference is some of the cheaper ones lack oleophobic coatings, or have weak ones which wear out very quickly. Also more expensive ones tend to have edges rounded off which is nice for people who don't use a case.
I bought one of their screens for my LGV30+ as its the only one I could find retail that seemed ok. It's terrible, the silicone seal failed after 2 months, screen cracked after 3. They won't honor the lifetime warranty unless I send them 9.99$ on top of the 40$ original price. Hilarious company.
Can anyone suggest a cheap screen protector maybe you have bought from eBay? If it is possible share a link to where I can purchase it. Please share only products you have tried. I don't want to buy something I don't know well and haven't seen a review of it! Thanks...
I got these tempered glass ones. Two in the package for $6.95. Put one on the phone back in early June still going strong. Hi proper cutout for the proximity sensor and ffc.

Two tempered glass protectors with proximity cutouts, $4. Feels just like a normal screen.
Installation was easy, carefully clean the screen of all dust and residue then align the tempered glass carefully. Bubbles will dissapear as you press on them, and it's no rush, I had bubbles a few hours after that dissapeared when I applied pressure.
Definitely inspires confidence that it will protect the screen from impacts?
This screen protector from Amazon works great! I personally have this one and it was a perfect fit and saved my phone from a face down drop on cement.
Nexus 5X Screen Protector, PLESON LG (Google) Nexus 5X Tempered Glass Screen Protector [2015], 99% Clarity, 0.2mm, 9H Hardness, Bubble Free, Glass Screen Protector for Nexus 5X https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016CUS84Q/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_xbsaybJFK359X
I had a tempered glass from Nillkin at first. Someday I droped it and the tampered glass did its job fine protecting the screen but broke. Then I thought that tempered glasses may break easier than the screen and thus every few drops I loose 10usd for nonreason (the screen never broke without protector, but the protector broke quite easily). So I ordered some tempered glasses from Aliexpress priced just under a dollar. The first one was probably defective and started to get off on one corner. But after that I got it off and applied another. Its perfect now, it feels just like naked screen (same as Nillkin). It broke on face down drop but maybe the exensive one would brake too.
Probably the expensive ones are tougher but they cost 10 times up or more. Does it really worth it?

If you drop your phone that much, quantity is probably more worth it for you than quality
Its not that, but i think that cheap ones do the job so why to pay for an branded one?
Had a Pleson that lasted for the whole 11 months or so I had my first 5X but got this instead when I got my replacement:

It's cheap, comes with 2, and installation was easy and bubble free.

Can anyone please point me to a source for ascreen assembly that doesn't cost $30 less than buying a used N6? $150+ is just out of the question....at that price I could just shell out another $50 and get a brand new Moto G4.
Thanks!!!

You can look around on AliExpress (beware of offers that sound too good to be true), but screens for the N6 are notoriously expensive.
You get what you pay for.
The few times I have saved money by dealing with "questionable" suppliers ended up costing me more.
Amoled and Oled screens are not cheap... Every phone that share those types of display is not cheap to repair , more than this N6 spot a 2k display. Similar display on Samsung devices cost the same. Your only bet is to buy a used one or a refurbished unit that will cost almost the same as new. I m a computer technician and I repair smartphones, when I get amoled devices to repair, I give the customer only one chose : original or to not repair, because refurbished displays ( aliexpress or Chinese units??) Always has some problems (colour, sensitivity ecc) due to the whole process of refurbishment
Well that sucks. I guess this one's going to the boneyard. Thanks for the advice
yeah, just cracked my nexus 6 today (dropped it off my ear onto driveway) while taking trash can in with 2 hands full. It had a slim case but corner drop cause shattered glass screen. Digitizer assembly costs $130. Could try removing cracked glass and buy new glass screen at $10 but process of removing glass looks very painful (also requires optical clear glue and UV light to cure the glue (or leave out in sunlight X 2 hours), especially with risks of bubbles, debris getting stuck in glue, breaking digitizer removing glass and old glue.
Ended up buying used Nexus 6 on Swappa for $130 with tiny chip at corner but does not affect viewing or touching areas. I plan on reenforcing this chip with epoxy resin so it won't spread with future drops. Also getting a full-size case with corner protection for this used phone.
