Just make sure if you restore that you are on the same rom that you backed up.

Will do. Is there options rather than restoring? I cant seem to find a "recycle bin" of sorts for android but I am betting I can find some type of revovery program that if I dont make file changes should be able to recover them. Going to look at that but will take suggestions if anyone has a better idea or a program that will work. Freaking sucks, such a stupid and careless mistake.

the trash is generally a hidden folder called ".TRASH" in the respective folder/directory

I have looked for that and I do not see it. I deleted them from within the gallery app. The files were stored both on my external SD card and on the internal in the starndard DCIM directory. No .trash folder exists in the locations I have looked. Would you know a specific path?

Need Help Plz :)

I'm trying to uninstall NFS Shift completely. I've uninstalled using Uninstall Pro, deleted the folder from "my files/data", but can't find the remaining files using Root Explorer. Can anyone show me where it's at or are there any? The reason I'm doing this is, I'm getting an error when trying to play.
Thanks in advance..

If you're really wanting to make sure you've cleaned it out, you could always to a Titanium backup of all the apps/data that is/are good (or that you want to save), and do a factory reset from Clockworkmod Recovery. That would clean out anything that's left.
Just make sure you don't do anything that will format your internal sd card (unless you've moved all the things you want to keep to a safe place).
Granted, you'd have to take some time to reinstall your other apps, but it might solve your problem.
Just my opinion, though.

Or get a an app called SDMaid. That's kinda what is was made for doing. Completely cleaning up entire apps and clone files and such.
seems like a lot of trouble to get rid of a few 2-5 kb files in my opinion

[Q] Duplicate file finder

Does anyone use one of these? I have 115 duplicate files that could free up some resources but I'm afraid to delete and have deleted something I needed. Although I suppose since I have titanium backed up, it's a moot point.
Opinions?

Just back up your storage to your computer first. Android will rebuild any files it needs. So don't worry about that. And if you delete any app data accidently, like game data, you just copy it back from your computer.

TWRP Restore Empty

Hi all,
I am trying to restore a twrp backup that I made, but when I go to twrp and click restore I get a black screen where it should show me the backup file, yet I can navigate via the pc to phones internal storage to TWRP/BACKUPS/2013-06-19--12-07-12/ and all the win files and md5 files are in that folder, tried making that folder into a zip and flashing like you would a normal rom install but it just fails. Please help folks!

Sure I just figured it was me being stupid and most people would know!, for some reason, twrp was only reading the sdcard but the backup was actually stored in /data/media/twrp/backups (no idea why it started doing this, I actually have 2 HTC ones both being sent back to vodafone and never had this prob on the first unit), anyway, I downloaded a app called root explored which enabled me to copy the backup file from data/media/twrp/backups to the sdcard/twrp/backups folder and then I could restore
I am sure there is a reason why I had this problem but I wouldn't have a clue as to why! But anyway that's how I solved it, I am sure there is an easier way tho!

It does this with 4.2.2 I think it sucks actually because if you want to copy a back up to/from your computer you have to use adb push or copy it over to your sd, then move it into /data/media

you must be looking at a wrong folder.
go to root folder of your device (where system, sys, etc, sdcard, data, storage and other system folders are) and check there.
edit:
actually, you aren't rooted, that's your problem. root, go to data/media/0/dcim. the photos should be there i think.

give it a try, but i doubt it will work. sorry :<
at least from now on, use the new way to backup. use a cloud backup app. for example for pictures i prefer myshoebox. u can do the same for contacts and everything. that way even if u go to another phone and log in to your cloud, you will always have your apps, your photos , your music , your contacts , everything.
If there is anything to save left ,then best chance is hexamob recovery on play store, but doubt it will find anything besides thumbnails.

Try using recuva sw, it helped me once, but i think files have to be deleted to work and not overwritten or formatted
But since i'm not sure you can give it a try, not much damage to be done

Lost Data Files After Update

After the update last night, all my folders with data files (files I created, documents, shortcuts, etc.) are gone. My program files are OK. I have searched and cannot find a way to get them back. I believe I have backed them up somewhere like Google cloud or the Samsung option. But I can find no way to restore them. So, I am lost...
did you update via Odin or OTA ?

Sorry, I'm not sure what those mean. The update happens overnight oh, so if OTA means over-the-air it would be that way

this is the exact right place to ask.
if you have backups made the check the settings menu or use the search to look for backup restore
Thanks for the replies. I think I know the problem. I found one of the back-ups on OneDrive. It restored all programs and settings. It did not restore data files. I believe that is because they were not backed up, my bad. I can't seem to find a back-up on Google, so I must not have done that. At least I didn't lose anything critical, just a lot of shortcuts and websites I bookmarked.

oh right, I understand you more clearly now. I don't think you can backup app data in such a way. the only method that can do this without root is by ADB which has to be done one app at a time. some apps can be backed up by copying there folders from /storage/emulated/0/Android/data or /Android/media but even then that might not be everything you need for a full backup.
any folders apps create outside of the Android folder can be copied to external memory and copied back later. I have to do this to guarantee that my messaging apps will have all the media I've previously downloaded.
I downloaded a program called GoodLock which saves the items on your home screen and supposedly back them up. I don't know if that just means the icons or it backs up the data. I hope I never have to find out
