if u didnt format they should still be in storage in dcim or in /data/media/...
if they are not there then they are gone

you must be looking at a wrong folder.
go to root folder of your device (where system, sys, etc, sdcard, data, storage and other system folders are) and check there.
edit:
actually, you aren't rooted, that's your problem. root, go to data/media/0/dcim. the photos should be there i think.

give it a try, but i doubt it will work. sorry :<

at least from now on, use the new way to backup. use a cloud backup app. for example for pictures i prefer myshoebox. u can do the same for contacts and everything. that way even if u go to another phone and log in to your cloud, you will always have your apps, your photos , your music , your contacts , everything.

If there is anything to save left ,then best chance is hexamob recovery on play store, but doubt it will find anything besides thumbnails.

Try using recuva sw, it helped me once, but i think files have to be deleted to work and not overwritten or formatted
But since i'm not sure you can give it a try, not much damage to be done

Just make sure if you restore that you are on the same rom that you backed up.
Will do. Is there options rather than restoring? I cant seem to find a "recycle bin" of sorts for android but I am betting I can find some type of revovery program that if I dont make file changes should be able to recover them. Going to look at that but will take suggestions if anyone has a better idea or a program that will work. Freaking sucks, such a stupid and careless mistake.

I have looked for that and I do not see it. I deleted them from within the gallery app. The files were stored both on my external SD card and on the internal in the starndard DCIM directory. No .trash folder exists in the locations I have looked. Would you know a specific path?

Hi! I just now finished doing this same thing...
Its pretty simple:
Just copy all the whatsapp folder to the internal SDcard and re install the app.
After you put your phone number and name, it will say it found backup file and ask you if you will like to restore all that.
Just press yes
And you got everything back to normal

I think the way told by #6 must have worked. It works for me, at least.
Well, put the backup files in the same position of SD card and the app will ask if you want to restore the history on your phone.
But, next time, try the normal way to backup and recover your whatsapp messages on the SGS1. Actually, WhatsApp has the options in Settings. You can even back them up via email.

Pictures deleted after reboot

So I had a weird problem. After doing a reboot, my phone deleted all my pictures from my camera roll. I ran Disk Digger to recover deleted photos, but all it recovered were pictures the pictures I had sent via MMS. And only the camera roll pictures were deleted--pictures from other albums like screenshots and downloads are still there. But the ones I actually want are apparently gone without a trace.
Any ideas for me?

Sorry to say, but if you have already tried to run a file recovery program and it didn't retrieve them, they are likely gone forever.
I can't shed any light on how or why this happened, but I do know a good bit about file recovery. If somehow the partition index was damaged, the filesystem would "believe" that those files no longer exist, and if the RAW data still exists on the flash memory, it can get "over-written" very quickly. This is my best GUESS on what happened to you...
If you try flashing your exact same firmware again...without erasing userdata with fastboot.... Sometimes it fixes issues and they will magically reappear. Sometimes.

"icare data recovery" does -exactly- the same thing as "Disk Digger" - which the OP has already used. He already advised that it only recovered some MMS pictures...
Likely, the data has already been subsequently overwritten, which make the files permanently irretrievable.
Anyone is welcome to try, but if one has already tried with diskdigger and the files weren't retrieved, I can guarantee that icare can't recover them either.
But ty it.. icare data recovery software works for me

It's weird that virtually all of his pictures were instantly overwritten. I played with DiskDigger for fun a while ago and found pictures I had deleted months earlier.

[Q] Heeeeeeelp me please XDA

Hello everyone,
I had HTC one that I sent to maintenance to be swapped for a factory fault. Before I send it, I made a full backup with HTC sync manager and saved it on my E: partition. When the phone was at maintenance, I had to install a new windows because it crashed. When I received my new phone, I installed HTC sync manager and copied the backup files to HSMbackup directory.
The problem is that sync manager says no backup available for the device and I really need to restore those data because this is the only backup I have.
Please, can anyone help me???
Did you just reinstall windows or did you perform a factory reset on the computer? If factory reset, you are basically SOL.
---------- Post added at 07:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:09 PM ----------
There are some data recovery programs out there you can try, but it all depends on whether data has been overwritten. Try Recuva.

I just re-installed windows on C: and didn't touch anything else and excuse me but what do you mean by SOL??
And FYI I still have the backup files on my computer.
OK. If all you did was reinstall windows, then your back up files should have already been in the correct directory to use the restore feature. Why did you have to move the backup to a different directory? Just trying to understand, not trying to be a prick.

No, because as you know the default directory is on C: but the backup files were saved on E: so, I had to copy the files to the C: directory.
And even when I selected the E: directory, sync manager couldn't identify the backup.
I am sure you've checked and double checked to ensure the path to the backup is exactly as was laid out at the time of backup, correct?

Suppose you can't do that then. I'm at a loss here, bro. Hopefully someone smarter than me will be along soon. Right @clsA? I would highly suggest that to make things easier in the future when it comes to backing up to skip the proprietary HTC way and just go with a standard Nandroid backup. You really can't beat that kind of backup, though it will require you to root your device. I know that might sound scary, but rooting this phone is so so simple. You can still run the stock ROM and all that, but Root access really makes the One shine. Just my 2 cents.

I'm not real big on HTC Sync for anything really. But try this.
use htc sync make a new backup to it's new location
then rename all you old backup files to the new backup files names and overwrite them in the new location
now try and restore them.
I hope that makes sense to you

Glad to TRY to help. [emoji2] I think Wondershare is an OK option if you are not rooted. My preference would be Helium for unrooted backup, though. Like I said, though, you really can't beat a Nandroid backup when rooted. It literally is a copy of every single file on your phone in the exact state it was at the time of backup.

Zrcam uninstall or .thumbdata3-1763508120 fix

I have sony Xperia Z1 with stock rom and xposed flash. Obviously rooted too. If i have missed anything, you can ask me in the comments section
I have flashed zrcam but when I click pictures, they are very huge. I do not have any problem with it being captured as i can delete them but what makes me worried, is that two thumbnail files have being created in my thumbnails folder which is currently taking up 2.69 and 2.68gb of my storage each. One of the file name is .thumbdata3-1763508120.
I have tried deleting these files but they appear back again or my camera stops working. I rebooted the phone several times and the camera started working with those massive files appearing back again. Also i have tried deleting pictures in those thumbnail folder but the size of the thumbnail file doesn't decrease. Pictures taken from my phone are saved in sd card and these stupid files are in the internal memory .
My question is, is there any way i could delete this file or i could delete the zrcam? Where can i get the stock camera app to flash. Sorry but i didn't back it up. I never knew i would face this issue. Please if anyone could help me that would be great!
Thanks a lot!
