What app are you using to unzip and install?
Just a few from the net . Scanner radio for example.

Hello -
When using newromupdateutility_wizard_noid to install any ROM I get a Windows GPF and haven't been able to get around it. When I install one of the other ROM's that are compiled into an exe file they work fine.
Is there any way for me to install the ROM from the storage card without involving Windows? Anybody know if I can convert the ROM files into an installable exe format?
Thanks
Edit/Delete Message
Anybody? Didn't there used to be a way to flash rom from a storage card???
Thanks
"When I install one of the other ROM's that are compiled into an exe file they work fine." That's actually using the ROM Update Utility behind your back. Try this -- Start, Run, type %temp% and hit enter. Note that an explorer window comes up. Now run one of the ROMs compiled into an exe file -- don't do anything with it just run it and watch that explorer window. You'll see a new subdirectory get created. Copy that new directory to your desktop or wherever and quit the ROM update utility. Inside you'll find all the files you normally do in a ZIP or RAR ROM update including a new ROM Update Utility that you can TRY to use.

Sounds like that file is part of a multipart archive. In order to unzip/rar it you need to have downloaded all the parts and then unzip the one that has a .Zip or .Rar extention. (actually I've never done that on the Kaiser - multi part zips I have only done on the PC, but it may work ok?
Mike
PS
this is not an upgrading matter so it will be moved to the general Kaiser forum

I was downloading this file http://www.pocketemu.com/hhc-info.html the home customizer and is a zip format
OP,
Have you tried copying the application onto your laptop/computer and then connect your Kaiser via your USB cable to your computer/laptop, and try unzipping and installing.
Your computer/laptop should then install the application onto your Kaiser if connected

I understand, however, as the moderator has told you in a more complex manner, not all zip files can be opened as they are downloaded straight onto your phone, unless the required parts are extracted. It normally works for me by clicking on the zip file, which causes all the individual components to be exposed. I then click on the zip and rar files and it downloads with no problems. If this doesn't work, then try it through your computer
Connecting your phone to your laptop/computer via activesync and installing the zip onto your computer/laptop should work
Unfortunately, I can't find my activesync cd at the moment (which I need as I did a hard reset and so need to reinstall mobile centre) and so cannot try out the HTC Customiser app

The zip programme is there for you to download zip files. Some components of zip files cannot download onto your Kaiser as the zip programme only downloads zip and rar files. In this case, you only download the components which the zip programme recognises and allows you to download onto your phone.
Yes, having looked at this a little more, I feel that what you have downloaded is either an incomplete version of the file or a corrupted one. I say this because I have downloaded the Zip to my PC (size should be 2.01Mb). I then moved it in zipped form to the Kaiser and the zip program extracted it without problems. Hence, it is likely it is your download that's incomplete or corrupt. Worth downloading again, it's not unusual for a download done this way to be corrupted.

Hey i just rooted using telnet and i am putting hard spl onto my phone from this rooting how to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=442480 i am now do and upply sdcard update.zip and when i do that it say it finding update package

thanks,
Krinilssen
Check out the CM wiki, its kinda easier. And try a PC and when flashing or whatever part you're doing, just go to the option that lets you find what you want. No need to do the update option. Would help more just need to know where you are at
And the message you're getting is because your zip wasn't signed

Hey guys, I've looked around and haven't found any reason why I SHOULD'NT be able to flash a custom theme from the Ultimate Online Kitchen, so I'm posting for suggestions as to why I am getting this error when trying to flash this... here is the error message I keep getting:
Installing update...
E:Error in /sdcard/Flashing/Themes/UOT-08-25-17-41-1.zip
(Status 0)
Installation aborted.
I also tried flashing it from the root of the SD card with the same results.
At the kitchen I am using the Type MTD (default) update binary...
Looking forward to your suggestions, maybe I have my settings wrong in the kitchen
From the how-to page:
WORKAROUND for recovery error (Status 0):
1. Unzip your ROM and find
META-INF/com/google/android/update-binary file
2. Put this file in the UOT zip (overriding UOT's file)
Click to collapse
I saw that in the How TO section and tried different ways:
1: Just dragging the file (update-binary)to root of the zip
2: Navigating in the zip to where the update-binary is and dropping it in there
3: Unpacking the zip and placing the file in the root of the zip
4: Unpacking the zip and replacing the file in the zip with the one from my rom
They all yield the same results (I'm pullin' my hair out) because the 2nd technique should've worked
did you ever figure out how to make this work?
My bad fellas, I should've posted back that I got this resolved...
I eventually downloaded a fresh copy of my ROM, unzipped the entire thing instead of just dragging out the file I needed.
I then deleted the file I was replacing with the one I got from my ROM and it went fine (after about 10 tries).
I also flashed my recovery to my phone and the amss and the dsp1...
Anyway, now I'm a cookin' fool changing themes every other day

I have a i9100 also and you really don't need the kitchen because there so many themed ROMs out there. If you like send me a private message and will contact you with pointers on getting the most out of your i9100
