I just installed I9000XWJS3 on my I9000T however I lost 850 band, I would like to know if is it safe to install JL2 Modem found on this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=906977
They have note in there that reads
"NOTE: If you have a Bell i9000M, do the following to (hopefully) prevent your internal SD card from dying:
1. Upgrade to JL2 using either Kies (recommended) or Odin (make sure to check Bootloader Update)."
Do I have to check Bootloader Update option since mine is a I9000T?
Also when going to menu *#1234# I got this
PDA: I9000XWJS3
PHONE:I9000XXJPY
CSC: Unknown
How can I fix CSC? which one is compatible with my current device settings?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
I would like to understand better what is what with respect to my phone. FYI, purchased with Optus (Australia), using Three (AU again of course), rooted before with one click root for Titanium, then got upgrade to 2.2 Froyo through Kies (great now Skype works, if wifi doesnt drop). Then rooted again with z4root. I now got it on 2.2 for about 3 days and trying to get the most out of the phone. Below info on my phone and I would like more explanation on what is what.
Baseband version I9000DTJP3
(what does baseband do, why ends with JP3?)
Kernel version 2.6.32.9 [email protected] #7
(what does "kernel" do?)
Build number FROYO.DTJP5
(why now JP5?)
PDA:JP5 / PHONE:JP3 / CSC:JP4
(why JP3,4 and 5?)
Is it OK to have JP3, 4, and 5... or did something go wrong during my upgrade and should it all be JP5?
Internal 2.01 GB
DB data 133 MB
SD card 14.4 GB
Ext SD card 15.9 GB
So mine is a 16GB model right?
On "My Samsung" Australia website I can choose between:
GT-I9000
GT-I9000/M16
GT-I9000/RM16
GT-I9000T
GT-I9000T/M8
GT-I9000/M8
Which one is mine? What does the M, RM, and T stand for?
Any suggestions on getting the most out of my phone? (wifi fix my post 1, post 2, lag fix, how to create my own boot animation?, how to call record?, other possible issues/solutions)
Your on stock jp5 which is the optus rom.
Baseband is your modem
PDA is your rom being jp5
CSC is your apn settings for your specific carrier being the optus network
Your details provided are what it should be so no probs there.
Im with virgin and my sgs is gt i9000 check your box
As for getting most out of your phone flash jpu.
Read the FAQ that's all over the place. That's why its there

I succesfully installed Simply Honey 3.5 revolution. The problem was when I booted my phone that it didn't recoqnised my SIM card. I have searched on these forums and found out that I need to flash my modem. I quote:
1) Why my SIM Card is not recognised?
- Because your modem is corrupted. Please flash a modem from the addons!

So how do I know what modem I need to flash, and how do I do it?
System info:
Firmware: 2.3.3
Baseband: I9000XXJVK
kernel: 2.6.35.7-I9000xwjvh root
Build number: Simply Honey
And I live in the netherlands.
hi there, first off i am not from asia and i have not tried simply honey, although coming from darky's rom which is also coming from a european baseband, i used to need to flash a different modem for asia region.
you will need to download a multi csc for europe which can be found on samfirmware
although that site needs you to register before you can download.
then using ODIN, which i assume you already used to flash youre simplyhoney
you can just flash that file you DL'd on the Modem
Sounds like your modem is corrumpt or you need to enable 850mhz or at least install amodem that has 850
I would just flash a modem... 2 ways you can do it.
1 - CWM3; Download a CWM3 modem, put in internal SD and install zip or
2 - Odin; Put the modem file only into the Phone section(Dont flash anything else)
Here is a modem thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9874879&postcount=1
fyi, I have North American phone with a european CSC.. I don't think CSC affects SIM reading... I may be wrong
Hi,
I'm newbie with SGS, I tried to flash an official italian firmware 2.2.1 with Odin and 3 files. Everything appears ok, but now the phone module don't starts. On notification bar only a no-entry sign. Wifi works fine.
With *#1234# shows:
PDA: I9000RSJS2
PHONE: UNKNOWN
CSC: I9000ITVJS1
BUILD INFO: 2011.01
With *2767*4387264636# shows:
service mode... nothing.
Originally, the product code was from a portuguese device, the firmware a 2.1-update1 release.
Any chance to recover the situation? The phone enters in download & recovery mode...
Have you checked to see whether your APN settings are correct?

Phone should be I9000XXJPY, like all european 2.2.1 ROMS
Try to flash the modem only, check in ODIN that it lists modem.bin as being copied to the device.
Yes, I've tried to reflash a h3g rom (I have a h3g sim).
And it is not an apn problem, I can't access the phone signal at all, I get only a no-entry simbol on tray notification and can't make calls. Now it's getting to be a bit worried...

Hi,
originally I think to remember something like WTY, or WTI... in the box there are 2 manuals, 1 in english and 1 in portuguese... that's why I thought it could by portuguese firmware. The one I fashed was JPY, like you said.
The roms I downloaded in the package contains a modem file in this format: MODEM_I9000XXJPY.tar.md5. Not .bin. Can I flash it alone, with no pit file and "re-partition" option disabled? That's correct?
Thanks to all for your attention.
Another try, I flashed a JP1 radio from recovery, the process has gone well, but the phone still seems to not recognize radio. After *#1234#:
PDA: I9000RSJS2
PHONE: UNKNOWN
CSC: I9000ITVJS1
BUILD INFO: 2011.01
The telephone does not show the IMEI with *#06#... nothing.
Have to send it to assistance?
Is there a way to find out what modem version I have installed on the phone?
On a stock-rom: type *#1234# into the default-dialer
I get only PDA PHONE and CSC.
LE:
Today I flashed JPU FW including modem, then JPY phone only then updated via KIES to JVO. Should I have gotten JVO ?
Yes you should now have JVO, i think you can look under settings in about phone whitch modem do you have ( i don't know wher exactly because i are one gingersense for sgs, but i'm realy sure) or you can type *#1234#.
go to settings-> about phone
and you will find something like baseband version, if im correct thats the model of modem you have
i manually installed mine to be UGL2 for the 850 band needed on my country
and its the one that appears on the baseband
good luck
Thanks for all the replies. I found it to be labled as PHONE in the info displayed by *#1234# code. It was just a missunderstanding between the phone and myself .
[Q] Flashed with Overcome "Jupiter" great but "Phone Info" incorrect
Hi all, I finally managed to restore my original IMEI from a backup thankfully after I flashed with "Overcome - Jupiter", everything else is great except for this,
My IMEI SV is now 05 instead of orig. 01.
I still get no connection to Optus eventhough I get full bars of service & the YES OPTUS network info on screen.
I also notice when I enter code - *#1234# - my info is as follows
PDA : P1000BGJP4
PHONE : I9000UGJK3
CSC : P1000OXAJQ1
I am running a Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000.
Why is it saying PHONE : I9000?
Can anyone assist
Thanks
why you don't try to re-stock with safe gingerbread v5 from samsung and then flash overcome ?
now i checked *#1234# and all are ok ? i think you need to restock with safe gingerbread that will wipe everything
Because the JK3 modem was origionally from a samsung i900.
You can make the baseband anything by flashing a different modem.bin with odin.
Go to the development section, and find the modem stickie, and take any modem you like, I'm using JPD but I'm probably going back to JK3 today.

So u recomend JK3? I am using the original modems that rotohammer used for the modem switch JL3 for the 2g+voice not sure wich one for the 3g, how can i change the modem to be used with modem switch. Thanks.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
First, you will only be able to use a different voice+EDGE modem. The Roto-3G modem can't be substituted.
Try out the modem for a few days in your area to see if it will be better than the current modem.
If you want to make it your permanent voice+EDGE modem, copy it to the modemswitch folder, rename the Roto-2G modem something else, like Roto-rooter, then rename your substitute modem Roto-2G.
You can easily reverse the process.
