I often use *#*#4636#*#* to enable/disable data connection and it works great for me. But in a nice day, I also disabled auto sync and background data in [Account and sync] settings then I can't enable the data connection via *#*#4636#*#* any more!! .
pressed [Enable data connection] but nothing changes, so I cant use 3G though Wifi still works!
anyone has this issues before? Please give me advice.

There is a use packet data checkbox under settings, wireless and network, mobile networks. It should be checked.

I'm in Australia, and with Telstra on their regular GSM network (no 3G). I don't have a data plan, so I don't want my phone to ever use data. Up until recently, I didn't have Telstra's APN programmed into my Dream, but I discovered that I couldn't read MMS without it in there, so I put it in. I now ocassionally see the icon with the 2 up/down arrows and the 'E' in my notifications bar when I don't have WiFi connectivity, and I can only assume that means it's using Telstra to check emails, etc. which I don't want...
I've gone in to the wireless controls and ticked "Use 2G networks only", but that doesn't seem to help it. It's going to end up costing me a lot if it keeps using data through my mobile provider. I have WiFi in 90% of the places I go, so I have no need for a data plan!
try to adjust your apn so that the username and password sections are blank. to see if that works just try and connect to a webpage without wifi on.

Click to collapse
try downloading APNdroid. It disables all but non data apn's i think (make sure you test your phone to see if you do receive the MMS)
Also make sure data roaming is disabled ( Settings > Wireless Settings > Mobile Settings )
So I was trying out the Wi-Fi hotspot in CM 6.0N1 for the first time...and that worked fine...and I was pretty happy about that.
But after I disabled it. I can no longer get a 3G/E data connection anymore on my phone. I made sure to check that "Data enabled" had a checkmark in the settings.
I then restored a backup...and that didn't fix my data connection issues.
I also tried to do a Wi-Fi hotspot again, and that no longer works.
I am, however, still able to just connect via Wifi...
Does anyone know if there are any other settings or steps I should do in order to get my phone's data connection going again on 3G/E ?
Thanks...
Its a T-Mobile Outage. No fault on you.
Ah. Okay. Thanks for the info...
And here I was wondering what I had done to screw up my data connection...
What timing on T-Mobile's part
So I can't seem to find anything that answers this anywhere.
I have some remembered WiFi networks which are open but require me to hit OK on the login page once I connect in order to use the internet. If my phone is in my pocket it will connect to these networks but not be able to access the internet until I go through the login procedure.
I notice though that my phone drops the cellular data connection as soon as it connects to the network giving me a large amount of time with no data at all. I have searched high and low for the setting that will keep cellular data permanently active but I cannot find it. When I look in settings I see:
Mobile data
Use my data plan when Wi-Fi isn't available.
If I tap that I see no option to change anything that would always keep the data connection alive. I see only the following
Data roaming
Data roaming sound
Access point names
Network mode
Network operators
In Power I have Power saver switched Off and Sleep mode switched Off.
Does anyone know how I can enable this?
Thanks
so i installed a lollipop global lte version on my z1 cause australia doesnt have it yet, the network works and everything, but it just wont turn on data, like i can turn the toggle on but it never actually works? Had the same issue with bluetooth and clearing the cache fixed that.
How can i fix this? any ideas?
THANKS!
If you are connected to a WiFi network go to: settings, more, Internet settings and that option will auto-configure your APN'S. If doesn't work go to: settings, more, Mobile networks, Access points names and configure manually
Hi,
I use Mint Mobile in the US as my provider. They support wifi calling and wifi texting, and I thought that the Mi A2 would be able to use this function, but I cannot find it in the settings. There is a setting that pops up when I search Wifi Calling in settings, but when I click on it, it is not in the menu. Will a custom ROM allow for this feature? Or do I just need to deal without it?
Thanks!
I finally found the wifi calling setting in the phone app (I cannot find it in the settings app), and enabled it, but when I go to make a call over wifi (without cell reception), a text box pops up saying "Mobile network is not available. Connect to a wireless network to make a call." But I'm on wifi, and I have wifi calling enabled (and I've enabled it on Mint Mobile as well). Please help!
