LG optimus 2x Gingerbread Update predictions

Let us all combine all our knowledge on when the Gingerbread update will come for the Optimus 2x in this forum Hopefully we can comeout with a slightly accurate prediction date
For me, what I can predict is, since all the other Tegra 2 devices out there in the market have not received any gingerbread update and when I went to the tegra website, there were no mentions on gingerbread at all. My guess is that nvidia has to come out with the Gingerbread kernel for LG to complete the Gingerbread update, thats what probably causing the delay although LG has already completed the new LG UI experience. So all we have to wait is for Nvidia actually Not just LG

I have a hunch, Nvidia might be skipping Gingerbread and continue with their kal el project instead. it is quite likely that we will receive the ice cream update

Yeap there are 3 factors for this delay,
1. Nvidia kernel not ready
2. LG Gingerbread ROM not ready
3. applies Swedish carriers only

Also there is 2.6.36 source for Tegra2, nVidia aren't ignoring anything.

well at least we can try gathering as much info as we can while waiting for the update to be released instead of just hoping and looking blindly at autumn to come. We should know whats causing the delays too

Lg engineers are waiting for CM7 stable...
Then they just have to tweak it a little bit and ad some bloatware.

That would be pretty strange to be true, CM developers don't have the full source of the hardware and managed to get GB to boot...

Check this out motorola Atrix which is running on same proessor tegra 2 has Gb coming soon! Hopefully LG will be able to get a stable Gb kernel source from Nvidia too!
EDIT: hopefully in July to August instead of October! (autumn)

There is already 2.6.36 kernel source from nVidia, that isn't the problem.

Hmmm then the only problem LG is well known for is instability issues like our current froyo rom, my guess is their trying to make sure the update for us has at least a 95% chance of not receiving any bugs

i still can't understand why it is taking so long, whileas cm developers give us daily updates

Optimus One spotted with official gingerbread. Which shows LG HQ is doing there job!
Also Source Code v10C rom has been released.

[NEWS] Gingerbread for Optimus one shown!

Guys look! LG optimus one is getting the Gingerbread update soon, there's even a video of it in youtube, I hope LG does something for the optimus 2x. We could also predict that the Optimus 2x will have the same icons for the notification bar and most probably not lose the Overscroll glow effect! Well we could also predict that our update will come soon as it would be an outrage if the Optimus one receives the update 4 - 3 months before Optimus 2x

Considering that the O1 was launched nearly a year ago, I don't necessarily see this as an indication that O2X will get GB soon.

Usually, in the phone market, the phones that are launched later will receive the update first. for example, the HTC desire HD got the Gingerbread update whereas the HTC desire have not. Furthermore, O2X is the flagship device of LG.

Understand that O2x is the flagship etc but it could also have something to do with device compatibility, hardware constraints (as in the case of HTC Desire/HD)and of course sales volumes. I feel LG has sold way more O1s considering the lower price point and they promised GB to O1 users in Dec 2010.
That it took them 6 months to get the GB release out after declaring their intent doesn't bode very well for O2X does it?

Hmmm most probably the update for o2x will come in Autumn or will there be a change to closer date of release

Actually the LG's GB rom is kinda irrelevant, running CM7 without bugs and i don't miss stock ...
Only wish for the source of all the nvidia's stuff and LG's GB source, so that it gets even better.

Wow optimus one takes one year to get GB. i think o2x still need long time. I hope that LG can always release new firmware and baseband to ensure there will be no bsod/reboot problem at least for stock rom

Yeah! xD but I dont think ICS would come so soon as the Nexus 3 is scheduled to launch in December and the Nexus always gets the first to have the latest Android firmware

Why not? By the time Gb will have been released for us, then ICS will be shown for the public and we would just starve for it imo. As far as I am concerned I would skip to Ics but it is never gonna happen. Sry for my bad English!

Then I'll guess we'll just have to use CM8 then I hope stock ICS would be good enough to sweep us off our feets

MIUI "Vote on Facebook" Collaboration

hey guys. i'm over from the lg optimus one forum.
if you havent noticed, miui is casting a vote on which device they should port MIUI to (the vote can be found here: http://www.facebook.com/questions/217517851641131/?qa_ref=ssp). as you can see, both the optimus black and the optimus one are losing to the more popular, higher-end devices.
if you are a fan of miui, then this might be of interest to you. the reason why i am posting this here is because it turns out that you can vote for more than one phone. i believe that if we support each other and cast a vote for both of our phones, we may stand a chance against those other phones. i know that maybe only one device will get it but anything is better than where we stand right now.
if you are not a fan of miui, then please disregard this message (but even if you are not a fan of miui, please support our phones by casting a vote for both of them).
i thought that you guys might understand as we (LG users) are the underdogs to companies such as samsung and motorola

One of Cyanogenmod devs has p970 and already released early alpha.
Eventually if he finished cm7 porting, miui is next. As i say OB is on miui porting list. They need cm first.
Please take a look on cyanogenmod release & changelog.
I've already voted both facebook poll & miui porting advice thread. I also shared both links to several forums and social networks, lets hope our phone gets one

at least you guys are on the porting list. we already have a working (and almost official) cm7 but the optimus one is not even on any porting list. miui ports for our phone have not been successful because our phone has an armv6 processor; in the words of another user:

They have lied through more official means. ;p
The radio, or lack of, is what keeps me from staying put on CM7...

i want to see official announcment, not some kind of fb post.

It is possible to promise always, but doesn't mean to carry out.

I would rather believe soon or later LG will close down their smartphone branch, like HP's webOS.

Just talked to my local lg service(croatia) and they told me that they are planing upgrade to gingerbread till the end of the year,but more important that they are plaaning upgrade to ICS for shure she said 100% shure to all P devices (990,970 etc)

Sorry no, I appreciate the effort but this has been covered countless times and you should really look at the ICS thread which is stickied!. The ZTE was launched a few weeks ago with ICS, it was decided that the fact it wasnt based on the Star platform (LG phones!) that it was useless and even the way they implemented ICS was poor so nothing at all to learn. This was confirmed by a EB dev unfortunately, and many people before like Ricardo at some point and he is pretty much top dog in terms of getting an official response .
However a different point is that out of all the devices that were launched without ICS this is the first to get it, it makes sense that Nvidia must have finally given out the required documents etc to OEMs as they are all around similar time frames, Paul at Modaco has just said it is in testing and due soon and he has sources at LG along with him being a respected dev, not the crap media reporters like GSM arena who spout random poop.
So yes it looks like we will get ICS within the month since you showed that the Samsung has now got it, the Samsung Galaxy R/Z is due soon as well so its all happening now . Samsung have a bigger dev team and havent had to make massive cuts so its understandable that an LG release will take a bit longer.

ZTE Mimosa X. There are so many posts in the ICS Discussion thread filled with this. It has been analyzed by EGB team and these other phone ROMs are proved to be of no use even if they have Tegra 2 (words of devs, not me).

The exact ZTE you mentioned, the ZTE Mimosa X... please just google it or follow this link : http://reviews.cnet.co.uk/mobile-phones/zte-grand-x-review-50007061/ there are alot of other sites covering this device and it will be on sale at virgin UK shortly.
And yes I have read this whole thread which is why I decided to reply, you are interested but unfortunately this is stuff we cant use to our benefit, we have to wait for an LG optimus phone with a t2 SoC to have hope, basically it needs to be LG star... theres more to a phone than just the SoC drivers.
The only importance about this leak is that Samsung now has a ROM for Tegra 2 based on ICS, this means that the drivers are finally being used by the OEM and implies that since the rest of the industry has taken along time that they will be nearing completion as well, we know that the o2x rom should be out fairly soon so its a question of when not if anymore.
TLR It cant help us, we need an LG phone with tegra 2 SoC to even come close to helping but best bet is to wait for O2x ICS which is on its way .

It's somewhere on my dev host account in the public folder, you have to search it though as I'm on the phone only.
But I chatted with Ricardo today, other devices are useless, it's LG or nothing.
