They have lied through more official means. ;p
The radio, or lack of, is what keeps me from staying put on CM7...

i want to see official announcment, not some kind of fb post.

It is possible to promise always, but doesn't mean to carry out.
Were frightened of the public!

I would rather believe soon or later LG will close down their smartphone branch, like HP's webOS.

I'll believe them when I'll get GB on my phone.

This is facebook bulsh..s I think that sameone who post in this "social network" don't know what is ICS.

Just talked to my local lg service(croatia) and they told me that they are planing upgrade to gingerbread till the end of the year, but more important that they are plaaning upgrade to ICS for shure she said 100% shure to all P devices (990,970 etc)
Sent from my LG-P990 using XDA App

That's really great! I hope for 4.0.

actually, LG Indonesia also confirmed ICS for O2X.
Indonesia is huge market for LG Phones, so their info is trustworthy.
but the question is, WHEN?
we just received GB in Nov.
so ICS, next year? on 12-12-2012 lol.

It would sure be a good start of a comeback if they manage to deliver ICS without too many delays.

I'd give LG an other chance, when they try to make the updates faster.

Yeah, we gonna wait more 50years with GB until we get the ICS update...

This is truly amazing news.

Why does it take 6 months for LG to give us gingerbread?

Can someone please explain to me why it takes LG 6 (or more...) months to ready gingerbread for O2X?
Isn't android ready from google? All that LG has to do is to install the drivers for tegra and so on?
I know that all others as slow with updates from google, but WHY?

Maybe because they have a lot of work to do with porting an android version to our phone which is not in pre-alpha state...it's like a new experience for them..they should take their time if its worth it..
Do LG have to port android 2.3 to O2X?? Dont understand how android works at all. Isn't it finished by google and LG only have to install bloat and drivers????
please
If they wanted, it would run 2.3.4 already, that´s 100% sure.
If you think it is that easy why don't you do it by your own. There are mods out there with gingerbread and guess what they have bugs! Why is everybody so keen on gingerbread. My phone does an excellent job!

You misunderstood a little..or you did not read..
Who said it´s easy?
LG is not a modding company
LG is not cm teamduche..doing things for free
LG is a huge-huge company, who can afford to PAY
And from a selling point: you want the latest android? - get the new flagship
Edit: of course, it´s just speculation

No it doesnt do an excellent job - besides the obvious problems with bsod and rebooting which many are facing, it also has a number of other very annoying issues which everyone are effected by and which everyone hopes gets resolved with Gingerbread. Your phone are no different than any other O2x and your phone has exactly the same issues as everyone elses. Just because you may not be experienced enough to recognize these issues, doesnt mean your phone does an excellent job - it only means your standards are less than others.
If we ever do get a properly optimised Gingerbread fixing these issues, then you will perhaps have a better understanding of how this phone should be running, considering the hardware.
Man even if there would be no reason for 2. 3 i just wanna have it , only the custom ginger roms that were gonna have is more than enough as a update reason . Dude we are like frozen atm stuck at optimated stock roms and thers not much left to "optimale "
I too have no bsod or reboots not even once. The only problem i have is poor battery but this is also the case for all android phones. Other than that. Been very happy with my phone and I'm sure gingerbread will make me happier.

The answer is easy... that's because they are LG !!
Try to sell as many as possible
So they spend most of time to promote their products, not spend time for software..
Don't you see? How long they spend for reboot fix...and yet not solve it
But why is it so hard to port android from google to the different phones?
Sent from my LG-P990 using Tapatalk
Too big HW diversity, crapy HW designs, bug-plagued drivers..
From my opinion, they need their own unique.
if the software is the same (standard from google)
the market share would be seized by Samsung, HTC, Sony.
However, LG still lack of professional to solve most of problem that the end users are suffering (like us, freezing/rebooting problem)

'cause each company has to adapt their drivers for each phone. That's why it's hard.
And here is why it take so long : because they all feel forced to add a stupid brand layer (LG Home, LG apps... But that's true with most of the companies).
We want gingerbread ! Waitin so long for it ...

Hmm... Can't understand that either... Drivers for tegra 2 is made by nvidia right? All LG has to do is add the driver to google's android? Other HW in the phone is not developed by LG either so they will have a driver from the manufactor wont they?
All i see that LG have to do is to develop the awful crapware they ship the phones with. That would perhaps take some time... but 6!! SIX!! months???

LG optimus 2x Gingerbread Update predictions

Let us all combine all our knowledge on when the Gingerbread update will come for the Optimus 2x in this forum Hopefully we can comeout with a slightly accurate prediction date
For me, what I can predict is, since all the other Tegra 2 devices out there in the market have not received any gingerbread update and when I went to the tegra website, there were no mentions on gingerbread at all. My guess is that nvidia has to come out with the Gingerbread kernel for LG to complete the Gingerbread update, thats what probably causing the delay although LG has already completed the new LG UI experience. So all we have to wait is for Nvidia actually Not just LG

I have a hunch, Nvidia might be skipping Gingerbread and continue with their kal el project instead. it is quite likely that we will receive the ice cream update

Yeap there are 3 factors for this delay,
1. Nvidia kernel not ready
2. LG Gingerbread ROM not ready
3. applies Swedish carriers only

Our combined knowledge is zero. Pointless thread really.
Also there is 2.6.36 source for Tegra2, nVidia aren't ignoring anything.

There is already 2.6.36 kernel source from nVidia, that isn't the problem.

Hmmm then the only problem LG is well known for is instability issues like our current froyo rom, my guess is their trying to make sure the update for us has at least a 95% chance of not receiving any bugs
i still can't understand why it is taking so long, whileas cm developers give us daily updates
Optimus One spotted with official gingerbread. Which shows LG HQ is doing there job!
Also Source Code v10C rom has been released.

[NEWS] Gingerbread for Optimus one shown!

Guys look! LG optimus one is getting the Gingerbread update soon, there's even a video of it in youtube, I hope LG does something for the optimus 2x. We could also predict that the Optimus 2x will have the same icons for the notification bar and most probably not lose the Overscroll glow effect! Well we could also predict that our update will come soon as it would be an outrage if the Optimus one receives the update 4 - 3 months before Optimus 2x
Source here
Considering that the O1 was launched nearly a year ago, I don't necessarily see this as an indication that O2X will get GB soon.
Usually, in the phone market, the phones that are launched later will receive the update first. for example, the HTC desire HD got the Gingerbread update whereas the HTC desire have not. Furthermore, O2X is the flagship device of LG.
Understand that O2x is the flagship etc but it could also have something to do with device compatibility, hardware constraints (as in the case of HTC Desire/HD)and of course sales volumes. I feel LG has sold way more O1s considering the lower price point and they promised GB to O1 users in Dec 2010.
That it took them 6 months to get the GB release out after declaring their intent doesn't bode very well for O2X does it?

Hmmm most probably the update for o2x will come in Autumn or will there be a change to closer date of release
Actually the LG's GB rom is kinda irrelevant, running CM7 without bugs and i don't miss stock ...
Only wish for the source of all the nvidia's stuff and LG's GB source, so that it gets even better.

Wow optimus one takes one year to get GB. i think o2x still need long time. I hope that LG can always release new firmware and baseband to ensure there will be no bsod/reboot problem at least for stock rom

Very optimistic. We don't even have a decent version of Froyo, there are delays with GB but we want ICS!!
Yeah! xD but I dont think ICS would come so soon as the Nexus 3 is scheduled to launch in December and the Nexus always gets the first to have the latest Android firmware
Why not? By the time Gb will have been released for us, then ICS will be shown for the public and we would just starve for it imo. As far as I am concerned I would skip to Ics but it is never gonna happen. Sry for my bad English!

Convo with lg lol

I know there's lots of these but they do make me laugh.
Every now and again i like to bug lg support and ask them when ics is going to be released but this is the response i got from them this time.
Mobile Phone Support: Good afternoon you're through to Chelsea Following this chat there is a short survey that will allow you to rate the Live Chat service you have received today. We appreciate all feed back given. How can I help you today?
richard frost: Im trying to find out when the release date is for Ice cream sandwich 4.0 for the lg optimus 2x will be
richard frost: hello?
Mobile Phone Support: Right okay, I do apologize for any inconvenience, but here at technical support we have not been given confirmation yet that this handset will be receiving the update, so we will not be able to give a release date at this time.
richard frost: Lg announced they would be releasing ics for the optimus 2x in the 2nd quarter is 2012....how can you not have any info try using the lg website as a source....

When i get responses like this i really have to wonder if we really will be getting ICS given not only lgs history but also the fact that their customer support seem to be blissfully unaware of their own announcements.
Meh.. the ics thing is a broken record. I don't really like the OS.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
They are told what they can and can't confirm. If they have been told a date, they won't give it. This is normal industry practice, LG are doing nothing wrong here.
why not
It's sadd and funny in same time.
For example Baltic have got GB update just in end of february, but they told taht it's already relased on 21 october
So If LG will make any ICS for P990 it may happen on 2013 i guess.
We just can pray and w8 for some people in LG will wakeup and strat to move their .. brains.
just wait and see, i do rather flash CM 9 unfortunately it's still RC but i believe that CM will be faster than LG

Its not going to be faster than LG they cant get real hw acceleration working without either the sources or something from lg... therefor....not faster.
I know exactly what's going on behind the scene. As I have worked a phone customer service before. This guy pays no to very little attention to the questions asked, that lazy bastard. He's having a talk and laugh with his coworkers. He simply put does not gives a rats ass. It's a matter of reconnecting until you have found a worthy agent.

Its already about end of Q2 and there's no sign of ICS upgrade for O2x, Quick voice is a faar call.
Anyway, it'd be cool to have assistant of our own!!

I'm more concerned about how long LG will make us wait!!

I heard LG Indonesia/Singapore (forgot which 1) confirmed ICS upgrade in Q3 can can be as late as september.
JB is about to be released and we don't yet have ICS!!

What's your point? The P970 is a different phone and has a different ICS release date, they don't share the same ROM.
The OB has a TI OMAP 3630 chip while the 2x has a Tegra2 one - thus they need totally different drivers etc.
I'm pretty sure that we will get an ICS upgrade but I highly doubt that LG can keep the Q2 timeframe
Personally I would bet for ~November (which would be Q4, yes).
Anyways since last few days LG has stopped releasing further GB updates if they're working on ICS then its good, it will be wonderfull if LG releases ICS leaks along with most importantly ICS kernel sources.which could bring next one big missing theme HW accelaration!
