Hello, i am a newbie and would like to install stock firmwares on my phone using ODIN. I would just like to know is this procedure safe? I have heard of many people bricking their phones with this method. Is it true?
People often think they bricked their phone, but 99.9% it isn't. Read some how-to's and it'll be a piece of cake

Ok, just a few questions please, i just want arabic language so is flashing through ODIN perfect or that? Also, do i need to root my phone?
Lastly, should USB Debugging be switched on during the process?
Thanks in advance

First question is, can you get to download and recovery mode?
If you want Arabic language, you will have to flash an Arabic rom.
Well, guys i will have the phone with me tomorrow, just wanted to prepare myself. Could you guys just please answer my queries in the last post?
As for the arabic file i have downloaded I9000JPJPG|2.2 file to flash on my phone tomorrow. Eagerly waiting for answers to my last post. Thank you.
As for download and recovery mode i will definitely try that before flashing my phone.

ICS Repack Problems
Hi all,
I managed to flash ICS Repack by Chainfire on my galaxy note today. It is pretty cool and really fast. But I've few questions to ask regarding this new ROM. Please be kind enough to direct me to a appropriate thread if these questions are already been asked and solved.
After I flash ICS Repack, I cannot find CWM anymore. What happened to it ? and how I can get it back ?
How I can go back to my old GB rooted ROM (I've CW backup of that rooted LB2 GB ROM) ?
By now, this ICS version cannot render South Asian languages. but LB2 rendered it very well. Are there any option to get that language support on this ICS ?
I need to change this Keyboard (Chinese) to English. Any other method to change it (Instead of installing GO Keyboard) ?
In our county phone numbers have two formats (our numbers are start with "0" but receiving calls don't have that starting "0" ). But in this ICS ROM, those 2 numbers are Identifying as two different numbers. Any method to fix that issue ?
Can I get my CPU speed to 1.4GHz again ?
Please be kind enough to help me on these matters.
Thank You.
This is why users should study BEFORE they flash. Anyways. Flash CWM, boot it, resrore backup. Cant help you much. Just got my Note happy studying

Stick with GB for now...people working with ICS around here like to make you jump through hoops just to get your phone to work...so if you're not will to spend the time on it, then stick with GB...no fuss, no muss.
The answer to 3. is a very simple 'yes, you can always go back'.
Also, massive thanks for updating your OP with the answers you have found. If only all question-askers did this.

First of all, you will need to unlock your bootloader using the procedure at HTCDEV.com. This is a fully documented procedure by HTC and if you are unable to read, learn and use this procedure, then you should reconsider trying to mod your phone.
The best way to get beyond the confusion is to read, study and learn.

Download Odin 1.85 or 1.87 and the kernel Speedmod.
Use Odin to flash the kernel;
Put your phone in download mode.
Put the kernel file in the PDA slot.
Flash and let it reboot.

That's why XDA has a search function.
Before you go any further, I highly suggest you read and understand what you're doing to avoid anything going wrong.
EDIT: Actually I did the search for you (yay for google). Here's your answer: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8532790&postcount=1
Can't get easier than that
Believe me, I spent hours searching for a method in CLEAR English to unlock my bootloader (234-000)could anyone please post a tutorial or at least refer me to one? I would be very grateful.
On the other hand, are there any roms which work with stock kernel?
Thanks very VERY much. :beer::thumbup:

234-000 is British - I used the official method Official bootloader unlock procedure from LG AND the one that works for everyone
As for "ROMs which work with Stock Kernels" - you need to use Google and do some reading to understand the terms a bit better.

use all in one toolkit of afro so you dont need to look around for recovery , kernel , etc. but for the phone to enter bootloader mode u need the right drivers. and as the rules say, first search the forum and if u fail to find something to help you, then ask for help.
I want to install a custom rom for my SGS GT-I9000 and just to be ready, in case a bootloop occurs, I want to download a stock firmware to reset my phone and I'm thinking should I download 2.3.5 or 2.3.6?
I'm running XXJVS baseband. Can I use any other stock firmwares as long as its in the designated country? I check the firmware of my phone and its in Europe. So, can I?
I'm a noob. Sorry for having small knowledge about this.
Please help. Thank you.

@denzel24 DON'T DO THAT!!!! @Audi22 has sent you link for the i9001!!!!!
If you do that, you will turn your phone into the electronical waste and Audi22 won't replace it for you! He is just a novice like you.
You can download any stock ROM for i9000 from sammobile.com
Better check sticky threads before you earn dangerous answers.

LOL, good! I'm glad you didn't do it.
I didn't get mad on you but on the other guy. I've spent on XDA forum so much time trying to help people in need or to prevent unbricking and then I see such careless posts around.
Good luck and fun with your new ROM
