hi guys im currently on the darky's v9.0.2. extreme edition custom rom for my galaxy s im having some problems downloading off the android market. basically i can browse all the files as normal but when i go to download them it shows that im downloading for about 2 seconds then just disappears off the screen?? does anyone know how i can fix this or know of a better or equal alternative to the market? i know of appbrain but i can even download that off the market either.
cheer in advance!

Darky problem ask Darky or search market fix .
jje

go into sgs tools, and go in to upgrade stock apps then select market fix that ought to do it

cheers guys for the quick response. i dont have sgs tools on this custom rom is there any way of getting this file such as a apk file to copy into my phone?

you should be able to find it in darky's app in market.
oops (you can't download from market). it should be in darkys' thread then.

APK here copy to sd card and install .

well i installed the up to date sgs tools and done the market fix and upgrade stock apps and no luck with it. still the same problem of the download starting then dissapearing. any more ideas guys?? oh ive also tried a different custom rom called insanity and still had the exact same problem.

Dump that rom do a clean install see if it comes back and if you want to upgrade get a service that does not have thousands of broken phones in its wake .

Then if it works Build a ROM .

[Q] Galaxy S software screwed up. How to restore the stock?

Hello,
i've got a serious problem with my galaxy S.
Recently i updated my software of my SGS to 2.2.1 with kies. I was happy for a little while but then i saw darky's rom and i wanted also the Gingerbread look on my phone. I rooted my 2.2.1 using Odin and i installed Clockwork recovery Mod or something like it. After that i flashed Darky's rom on my phone.
It all worked perfectly. But then Yesterday suddenly when i tried to call home my phone wasnt working like it should. And it wouldnt call anybody.
So at home i searched up a stock firmware from samfirmware .com And i flashed it.
Now my phone is all **** because the software force closes and kies doenst work any more. I think i may should have first deinstalled Clockwork mod and unroot?
The only thing i want is to get back to 2.2 or 2.1 Im running vodafone and im from holland don't know if that makes a difference?
Anyways i really hope someone on this forum can help me please.
I just need the stock firmware and everything else like CWM and root of my phone although i cant see superusers anymore in my menu so i think its off?
first of all boot into recovery. do a factory reset/ wipe the cache and also try to format the internal sd card.
secondly boot into download mode and try to flash your stock rom again, do not use re-partition or pit unless you have 3 files (pda, modem, csc), if that completes, let me know what happens after the flash... or PM me if you want to.
Just to add, if you have these problems, you should flash with repartition to make sure that everything will be fixed, but as azzledazzle said, you need all the 3 files to do that.
you knw what a problem is i think ..that i'm not sure im using the right rom to flash with? could you maybe tell me what file i need to flash with? what is the stock for my phone and how can i see it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=846913 this has all the stock firmwares you need. im not sure which ones come in 3 files. ideally you will be wanting one that also has dbdata... if you cant find it i would suggest flashing darkyys new 9.2
you can flash that thru odin, you can use 512 pit even tho it only has 1 pda file. and it also contains dbdata which will restore the old one incase of corruption or deletion (happened to me yesterday)
when i try to format the sd it says .
E:can't mound /dev/block/mmcblk0p1
(device or resource busy)
E:copy_dbdata_media: can't mount SDCARD:
do i need to do anything about this? is it bad?
i would try and flash a rom with dbdata if that doesnt work you could try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905975 or this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=563298
if that doesnt work i think it may need to go back to samsung i suspect it could be a corrupt sd card... (but i may be wrong)
yes yes YESSS i think it worked really thanks man for the fast help etc. now it boots i flashed it and there are no weird apps or force closes...Only one question left if i want to just root 2.2.1 is there an easy app for it? or do u have a file to just root stock with odin?

It's funny.. I did the exact same thing yesterday, and the same result happened to me. Now I'm dealing with how to unbrick my phone.
easiest way is to flash speedmod kernel thru odin, that gives you root and lagfix (if desired) also some extra tweaks to speed up the phone.
PS: Dont forget the thanks button ---------------------------------------------->>>>>
well maybe this can be some use to u it worked for me i guess only prob is i cannot connect to kies but that's just finding the right firmware
damn man it still is not the right firmware how can i see what firmware i need? the one i got now kies still says it cant update
damn man i still dont have the right firmware how can i see what firmware i need for my phone? its a dutch vodafone branded phone i want 2.2

select the firmware you want from there. dont listen to what kies tells you.

[Q] which rom

Hi all, really sorry about this question but I have tried looking and im getting really confused, I have a galaxy S in the uk on o2, it is a branded phone, I am running 2.2 at the moment but would like to upgrade to 2,2,1. I have unlocked it so all locks are off, I am using
PDA 19000ADJP6
phone 19000ADLP3
CSC I9000O2UJP3
build info 2010.11
kernel 2.6.32.9 [email protected]
I know ive got to remove the lag fix so do I just go to recovery mode and click to undo lag fix then can i flash to JPY or do I have to flash to something else first.
Sorry its stupid but im just learning all about this and dont want to break my phone. My husband will kill me!!
If you do not want to break your phone then you require the official update path through O2 via Samsung Kies . If indeed they have upgraded but if they have not yet they may not as 2.3 is due for release .
Any method of flashing stands a small chance of bricking your phone about 1 in a 1000 non recoverable .
Best custom rom would be to build your own in the rom kitchin .
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=817703
JPY is 2.2.1 CSC for CPW car phone ware house will cover O2 UK .
jje
Hi jje, thanks for the quick reply, o2 havent released the 2.2 yet, maybe they wont then, maybe they will wait for the 2.3.
the rom kitchen looks really scary, dont think I will go down that road, so would the JPY be ok for me or would I need to flash something else first. I just want to update to the stock 2.2.1. thanks again
JPY is fine .
But if you can flash via odin then the Rom Kitchin is easier and safer all you need is on one page .
jje
probably flashing stock xwjs5?
been to rom kitchen and choose xwjs5 and ive disabled my lsg fix, the file i saved from rom kitchen is a zip file do i just copy that zip to my internal sd card, go into recovery mode then run it from there, also just in case it goes wrong i was told when i installed cwm i should backup my phone which i did, so how would i go back if it goes wrong thankyou
can anyone help please im waiting to flash now but need to check first, sorry to sound rude

How about a factory reset after flashing, to see if it works afterwards?

I did that a couple of days ago but there was no change then. I think its starting to work better now, strangely the market is working fine now all of a sudden, some apps too not all of them, what did I do right?

fw 2.3.3, and I'm not sure what is a bootloader?
Another forum good advice they give . Follow our instructions then ask someone else to fix it .Would not be sure as to proper instructions given .
You can only update via Kies if their is a firmware for your product code on the server .
If it works ok leave it but if not then you would be best to wait for release of Gingerbread or use the flashing Gingerbread methods posted on this forum and reflash .

What firmware or kernal to use for root

I have had a bit of bother with which firmwares to use at the moment the only one i can get to work, all be it not properly as the auto rotate doesn't work is this version
PDA : I9000XWJV1
PHONE : I9000XXJVE
CSC : I9000OXXVJ1
i have read that this one is good "Gingerbread-GT-I9000-XWJVH-stock-kernel+hacks.tar" but i am unsure as to weather i can update to this or not, i use voodoo contol plus for the audio and i have read something about a voodoo kernal that i can use but i'm still a noob at this so some help would be apreciated
Cheers
Try Darky's Extreme or Juwe to begin, you can find the howto in their posts.
After that you can begin to play with the RomKitchen ;-)
don't mean to sound daft here but where do i download it?
ok now i'm stumped, i managed to find the darkys rom and i have it downloading but it says that i have to have a JVH on my phone already so i'm trying to find but cant find it, can someone put up a link for it please
Never mind i found it eventually, thanks anyway
Flash the base JVH rom, download here: http://tinyurl.com/darkyjvh
Flash Darky 10.1, download here: http://tinyurl.com/darky101

Problem with market

Hello everyone hope all of you guys had a nice holiday seasson, so my problem is i have an AT&T captivate the model that wont work whit the three buttons method to put it in download mode and i want to change the rom to Cyanogen mod so itried doing it via ROM manager buuuuut i dont know why android market only shows me the premium version when i search for it, i also tried to install ROM manager via side load wonder machine and i couldnt by the way i root he device with One Click Root help me i want to get rid of the stock rom im in 2.1 -update1 eclair
Well your bootloader must be messed up if your button combo isn't working. The best way to fix this is to flash ATT GB bootloaders (Don't worry, they are backwards compatible with froyo/eclair). GB Bootloaders
As for Rom manager I don't see the necessity in using it. You can download roms from xda and put them onto your sdcard, then flash through cwm. ROMmanager could be blocked in your country (I don't know why it would)
Tnx i gonna try after my USB JIG arrives beacause now is stock in the black screen and the keys light up but tnx anyway
