Hi Wonderful HD2 Android Community.
Now that Android is running on NAND smooth enough to be a daily build, I decided to create some boot screens to remove every last trace of "Stockness" from my HD2.
I have created two boot screens to replace the standard white HTC (or operator) screen which appears when you first turn on your device, before MAGLDR starts.
These boot screens are a simple and classy. Sample JPEG images are attached below so you can see before you flash, along with the ZIP files for each boot screen.
Any boot screen I post has been tested by me on my own HD2, so there shouldn't be any issues. However, flash boot screens at your own risk. I do not take any responsibility for any damage to your device. Flashing boot screens voids your warranty.
Please note: I am hosting these files on my own server so I can track download numbers, so these are all direct links to the files. Not links to download sites. Safe to download at work

Please note, to flash boot screens, your phone needs to have HSPL2.08 installed, or installation will fail.
Instructions for Win Mo 6.5.x users (Flashing using CustomRuu.exe) - Not sure why you would want to use an Android boot screen if you are still running WinMo though.
* Make sure your battery is at 50 percent or greater before beginning.
* Whilst the device is in Windows Mobile, connect your HD2 via USB.
* Connect device with 'Windows Mobile Device Center'.
* Run the CustomRUU.exe (with administrative privileges)
* Press update
* Success!
Instructions for NAND Android/WP7 (Flashing using CustomRuu.exe)
* Make sure your battery is at 50 percent or greater before beginning.
* Completely power off the device (unplug USB connection if present)
* Press down the "Volume down" and "Power/End" button simultaneously.
* You should see a red, green,blue and white screen with the word "Serial" in the bottom.
* Connect your HD2 to the PC via USB (the word "Serial" should be replaced by "USB".
* Run the CustomRUU.exe (with administrative privileges)
* Press update
* Success!
I hope you like these boot screens. I will be adding more over time so stay posted.
If you appreciate my work, please use the "Thanks" button or if you feel inclined, consider a donation.
Thanks!

Very Nice hope you come out with more
is there a chance for us to replace your boot screen picture by another picture in that .zip file then?
I'm not sure what yo mean. If you create your own NBH file with the image you want to flash, you can use the CUSTOMRUU.EXE to flash it.
Great work dude, Keep it up.
Going to try these later, thanks a lot

I'm pretty sure that I've heard that the cyanogen skateboarding dude is integral to the initrd.gz file. You'd have to have a developer cook up another one for you. After that one, there is a bootanimation file that you can change yourself with root explorer or droid explorer.

No problem. Added to OP. You will need to compile new NBH files to use your modified versions however.

I've started this thread so if Admin's made this one sticky we can all collect home-made Trinity Splash Screens here..
Please follow this guide if you want to create your own splash and post only compressed (ZIP or RAR) RUU_signed.nbh file and the screenshots (in JPG format)
Flashing Splash Screens is very fast and harmless as no data will be erased from ROM.
Here is my first "Trinity" splash screen! I called it "The Real Trinity"

If you have a SuperCid device then no problems, just copy the file you downloaded into your RomUpdateUtilty folder and run the program.
Otherwise you will need SSPL-TRIN.exe to SuperCid your device temporarily.
Follow this thread for SSPL-TRIN: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
What's wrong?
Tried several times to flash the trinity splashscreen but does not work?!?
It always tells me splashscreen file corrupted. I run newest german gps rom and my trinity is super cid unlocked. Can anyone help me?

What is your bootloader?
It has no problems with the Olipro's one, or try with SSPL-TRIN...
Original bootloaders does not accepts unsigned files (giving error: file corrupted)

Are you saying that in order to change the splash screen i have to flash my Trinity "ex novo" again?
Is there a way to install the splash screen without reflash the whole (but modified) rom?

Don't worry flashing splash screens does NOT erase any phone data (os, your personal files etc.)
It will ONLY change the splash screens!
I missed somethig...
I followed these steps:
-opened official new ita rom with WINRAR and extracted all in a new folder;
-renamed the .nbh file in .bak;
-extracted commodore.zip and inserted the file(.nbh) in the new folder;
-ran SSPL from device as usually;
-ran update utility (.exe) from the folder and flashed the device ONLY with the new splash screen (about 5 seconds to get 100%).
The splash screen worked well, but when it booted i noticed i had lost all my settings and my installations, so i had to spend an hour to set them once again.
Have i done something wrong? Sure, but what? I'd like to try some other splash screen, but i don't want to waste my time...

Hi thought i'd share this tut i have not seen many things on this.
# Note: I am not in anyway responsible if you brick your phone as this can be very dangerous Good Luck
First you need to flash a new spl version, you can go ahead without and try if it works but it's most likely not going to let you with out changing your spl to an unlocked one
Use the SPL below, flash it as if it were a rom, once flashed reboot it will boot into recovery again, leave it for a little while then hit reboot your phone should then boot up normally. View attachment update-hero-hboot-1.76.2007-signed.zip <-- (SPL)
Now either download this (Click here For Mirror's) (Splash Screen maker) to make your own splash screen out of an image or download one someone has already made (PM me if you want me to do a personalized one for you also include what you want on it and what you want it to say ), here is a cynageon mod one i made if you want to use it (extract the zip and its the .rgb565 file you want)

"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
View attachment splash.zip
To make your own create an image with the correct resolution and open it with createG1slash.exe from the splash creator zip file you downloaded, then click convert, in the same folder the program is in you should now have a file either ending in .rgb565 or .nb it doesn't matter which one you have as long as you have one rename it to splash.(Then_whatever_your_extension_was) and move it in to your android sdk tools folder. Next open cmd and get to your android sdk tools folder in that. (Make sure your phone is turned on with usb debugging also on)
then in cmd type
adb-windows reboot bootloader
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
your phone should then boot in to fastbootmode let it do that then next type
fastboot flash splash1 splash.rgb565
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
(or .nb instead of .rgb565 depending on what file type your file was)
If you get an error message doing the above and havent flashed the new SPL that means you will need to flash it as you have a locked SPL
Then lastly
fastboot reboot
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Hope you enjoy your new splash screen
For the (almost) stock Splash Screen go here
(o'.')-o Q('.'Q) <--- lol
Maybe also supply a MD5 check thingy as Ive heard that playing with SPLs can lead to brickage issues if the download is corrupt.
But thanks for the share pal, bookmarked for future ref.
Thanks again.
Thanks for the info I will look for one tomorrow, your welcome

i've got one now but im wondering how would i use it with the attactched zip ??
So you need to get the MD5 check sum for the original file you have on your pc. Then just put that long code up in your post so when people download, they can check the MD5 on the file they have and cross reference to make sure it is exactly the same as your copy.
Ah okay thanks will do that asap
Thanks got the MD5 sum andput in op

If there not what you wanted just say and i'll do some more
Just one more.....
Is there anyway to flash original before selling the phone?
Yeah sure i will look around for the original then upload, How come, you selling your phone or is it a just in case situation
Here you go it's not exactly the original but you'd have to be very good to tell the difference

You can use the usb driver from the Win CE SDK.
Follow these instructions - http://forum.tegratab.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8
Just download the Win CE SDK and when asked for the drivers point to the Win CE SDK Directory.

Sounds like you used the Nvidia bootloader, instead of the Gtablet one.
Ah... I did. I will give it another try in the morning.
Worked like a charm. My bad.
Is there anyway to change the GTablet screen that comes up next?
Dont want to impose over the thread... But hey thought I add this here...
Looking thru the Gtab forum and I got to say Roebeet is doing an awesome job. As others her as well. Just might jump into one because of you guys.
Again dont want to hijack the thread.
Put this together rather quickly...
Bootanimation AFTER the Viewsonic logo
Yep... That's just a bootanimation.zip file that you can replace in the /system/media
Just happened to look into that two days ago and changed mine, then Rothnic showed up the 'other' screen. Funny how things work together that way.
You can ADB and push the file but all I did was find another bootanimation.zip use root explorer to copy in the /system/media (of course I backed up the old one first) then rebooted.
Here is the animation I am using now, little Android guy with a spinning circle that I 'borrowed' from Eugenes Macnut13 release.

Nevermind, Rothnic posted it in his thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859383)
Worked perfectly
Thanks for posting the image and the instructions. It worked perfectly to get rid of those ugly Viewsonic birds that first pop-up when booting the G Tablet. And since I already had CyanogenMod 7 on the unit, that's all I needed to completely give my tablet a non-branded and very cool look.
Thanks for this!

Thank God for these links and guides. I thought I was stuck with those 3 damn birds forever!
sick ass theme, gonna download this puppy later
I posted this over in the Vibrant forum, but wanted to share it with all of you. I have one other that I posted there that I'm redoing to include a shutdown animation as well. Let me know what you all think of this!
The zip is flashable through CWM on at least galaxy s phones and a mt4g, so I imagine it works on others, too.
Credit to jlbmgrnr for collaboration on the idea and packaging it.
- Standard disclaimer about me not being responsible for phones getting messed up goes here -
file: dancing-boot-anim.zip is just the dancing, without the fake apple bootscreen.
file: bootanim-dancing-edify.zip is flashable with CWM3

I love the vaudeville green man. Can you put up a version without the -unqualifiable- apple?
In 2011, it's not as if we still have fight to get the green man a seat at the table.
awesome boot animation man. already installed it to my HTC Desire HD. good thing it's 480-800 resolution by default. i thought i would spice it up by adding my own custom sound mp3 to go along with it. sound file link at the bottom of this post.for those with a DHD you can push the files through AndroidSDK adb with the following commands. for this instance i am using the rom LeeDROID 2.2.2. connect your dhd to your computer and make sure it is set to charge only and make sure debugging is set to on.
first download vaderville-boot-anim.zip and extract the contents to a folder on your computer. first go to system folder and then media folder and find the bootanimation.zip file. copy and paste the bootanimation.zip into the same folder where your adb.exe is located which is usually program files\android\android-sdk\platform-tools\. open up adb through your cmd prompt and execute the following commands to load the new boot animation.
adb remount
adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local
also extract and put the android_audio.mp3 file into the same folder as adb so type:
adb push android_audio.mp3 /data/local
now we test everything out by rebooting
adb reboot
if everything goes well, your dhd will reboot and play the awesome boot animation along with the "new york, new york" song by frank sinatra minus the voice. this tutorial can be applied to any android phone provided you know where your rom stores it's boot animation file and sound file.
thermanlee maybe you can ask jlbmgrnr to add this sound file to the package so it can be flashed through cwm. in the bootanimation.zip you can open up the desc.txt and change the resolution to fit your android phone and then save and flash it. enjoy
Awesome

(Same deal as before. I imagine thermanlee will want to pop this into post #1.)
Hi!
I've made a dark downanimation.zip (animation while phone is switching off) to replace the stock one from HTC. It's like the original one, but on dark background, to go with the dark splash screen and bootanimation that's floating around in the ARHD rom thread. Tested in my Desire HD (480x800). Don't know if someone else had already made this, but I couldn't find any...
Install Instructions:
OPTION 1:
Open root explorer, rename the file darkdownanimation.zip to downanimation.zip and paste it in /system/customize/resource. Then define permissions to rw-r--r--, like this:
{

Flash the darkdownanimation-flashable.zip in CWM.
Feel free to use it and comment on it! Thanks to Dude360 for making the flashable zip!

Thank you all! Probably you're looking for it in the SD card. In root explorer, select the ".." to go up a level and the system folder is there. Don't forget to select "mount r/w" before pasting the file.
Absolutely awesome downanimation. Using it now!
This one should be flashable, havnt had chance to try it yet myself though so let me know and Ill remake it if not.
Quick splash screen question, are they 'permanent' or do they revert back to the white HTC every time I reflash?
I flash roms quite a lot and usually incorporate boot/down anis in the rom cleaner script. Never dealt with splash screens before.
Cheers

Quick splash screen question, are they 'permanent' or do they revert back to the white HTC every time I reflash?
I flash roms quite a lot and usually incorporate boot/down anis in the rom cleaner script. Never dealt with splash screens before.
Cheers

As far as I know, it reverts back. Thanks for the flashable zip, I'll try it later and report.
EDIT: Working flashable ZIP! Adding it to the first post now, thanks!
Bummer. Gonna have to see about getting the cleaner script set up to flash the splash as well then, cuz I really like the look of this one

Well, I'm 99% positive it works. It depends on the ROM and screen resolution. Combination ARHD + [480x800] works!
Looks great on my HTC ThunderBolt
Thx looks sweet
Could you please link "dark splash screen and bootanimation that's floating around in the ARHD rom thread"
