Good morning, it's my first post so please be gentle. I use an XDA2 issued by the office and an XDA2mini as my personal mobile. When attending meetings I sometimes forget to mute my phone. Is there an application that mutes the device and if there is can this be assigned to one of the buttons?
Thank you.
Kara
Welcome to XDA-Devlopers
Think you might find pzp will solve your problem.
Here is a VERY long thread on the subject, might just want to go to his site and read about it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=6162
Gee you sure weren't kidding about it being a VERY long thread; all 169 pages of them
Thank you for the response I guess I have some reading to do tonight. I wonder if this functions to something like a TV remote controller where you simply press the Mute button and the volume is gone.

No its a an application that lets you set phone profiles that will aloow you to define how the phone will react in a given place.
As In, if you have set the proile to office it will mute your incoming calls if you have a meeting found at that time in your calander.
Like I said go to his site and read the functions, his support is great and at EURO 5 its great.
PS do you have a xda2 or a xda2s as I think you could be in the wrong forum, check the picture of your device on the forum index page. If this is the case I will move your camera post.
And don't forget, If you forget to activate the profiles and you get a call in the middle of something, just slide the Volume slider up or down, and it will mute this one call.
Hi MDAIIIUser; I checked the box and it said XDA2S. It's also black in color and has a slide down keyboard.
Hi bosjo; I already tried the application and it works splendidly. I guess my Nokia is going to go to charity.

Is it possible to assign a seperate ringtone for certain contacts? I have trawled through the user manual trying to find anything at on this but it shows nothing. I dont know whether this would require additional software to be installed or not so am looking for any pointers on this. I have tried to search on this subject but each time the results that come back are totally varied and dont mention this issue. Any help much appreciated

if you dont want extra software:
in the contact details, there is a field under mobile tel that says ringtone.
sadly you cant mute or set to vibrate only
but i think there is a prog (iirc phonealarm? someone verify on this please) that will do exactly that.
Yes. Phone alarm will do that. Doesn't do black list yet, but can also do separate tones for contacts SMS's..
Other alternatives....... Photo Contacts Pro (PocketX). Smartfilter Pro (Novosec),
But, as mentioned above, you can assign ringtones to specific contacts.
Hi Toufas, tha's exactly what I was looking for. Many thanks, if thats in the user guide, I must need better specs
i assigned specific ringtones to some of my contacts but its this morning did i realize that the default ringtone still applies whenever those people call.
i have a 6.1 rom. do you guys think this is the problem??
I can recommend Ringo. You can set ringtones to your categories if syncing with outlook, set up specific message tones and customise with your own mp3, wavs etc...
So does "Ringo" or any similar software allow us to create a category of contacts (personal, business) and assign each category a ringtone?
Also, I have recently switched to PocketPCs. I have a Tilt phone running 6.1 cooked ROM. I should say, Nokia phones give a much better profile and call management options than these phones, hands down! Nokia gave me a silent button I could use to mute the ringtone but let the call continue. This is very helpful in case you forgot to switch it to silent and the phone suddenly ring. You don't always have to ignore the call. Can HTC Tilt do something like this?
Also, one more thing I miss is the vibrate + distinct beep sound Nokia phones have. That beep is heard even when you are considerably away from the phone, very nice sound. So I want to create a vibrate profile on HTC Tilt with a sharp beep sound. Can this be done?
Sorry for so many questions in this thread, but simply did not want to create a new one.

My TyTN II used to have a Silence button when I was running Garmin's DK.3 rom... I do not know about his new roms, but since I've started running AthineOS, I have lost the silence button... dont know yet if I personally miss it, but it means that it does exist...
I now use HTC Touch Pro for over a year and I love it!
However, I used to work with Symbian (nokia N70 still use it) and I had this answeringmachine that lets you direct the caller through a series of questions in a menu to lead you there where you want the caller to end up.
(same thing you find/hear with big/small companies "PRESS 0 TO CONTINUE" or "PRESS 1 IF YOU WANT CUSTOMURSERVICE OR PRESS 2 FOR THE HELPDESK" etc.)
I searched for months and months for this app. All I found were normal answering machines. No IVR voice respond system.
The Interactive Voice Call Manager from symian was perfect.
Does anybody have any idea where to look for a app like this or are there any Developers up for the task?
I find it hard to imagen that only Symbian got the idea for this.
So please XDA users let me know if you have any information regarding the IVCM for WM. (origanily called: IVR VOICE RESPOND SYSTEM)
PS: I love this site. It helped me fix a lot of problems I had with the HTC TP.
We also tried to develop an ivr app a year before. the problem is after android v2.33 the raw messaging & USSD api's was removed and can be possible only in rooted phones. So even if we develop an similar app, it only works in rooted phones. so we are also waiting for google to release some api to raw messages and access to voice call like read autio stream from voice call and merge an audio stream to voice call. for now its not possible in android non-rooted phones.
It is all in the title, wondering if the GNote supports AVRCP 1.3 or 1.4 or not yet.
I know that BlueZ BT now supports it.
a small bump maybe
It seems,, according to official specs page, YEP it support AVRCP 1.3...

Oh thanks ! i had missed that !
If this is true that my MW600 should be able to display the name of the caller not only the caller Number (as well as the track name)
Can't wait to test that.

Please do post the test result.
I am planning to get mw600.
will receive my Note by the end of the week will test and get back to you (unless another member chimes in before that )
The built in player shows the track name. However I only see the incoming phone no on the receiver.
The audio sounds better with Samsung player compared to third party ones. But the Samsung player disregards track numbers in metadata.
The battery life for the receiver is good but if you don't already have it and thinking to get one, consider the following drawbacks:
volume level control is terrible.
Call button is also not placed in a proper location so you press it easily by mistake.
Also audio quality is nothing to write home about.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA App
Got my note today, in my opinion mw600 works great with it.
Although I do agree.about the audio rocker for me the sound ha very good
can anyone put a light on any bt headset which shows caller names instead of numbers? for note

It does not shows the Caller name just shows the Caller number
I think it's not the Galaxy Note but Android. As far as I know Android doesn't support AVRCP 1.3 (that's why you don't see caller ID, only number).
Moved To Q&A
Am considering purchasing a Motorola Razr i. I tend to text a lot and leave my phone on vibrate. So could someone who owns the phone please tell me what the vibrate alert pattern is like ( eg: my nokia => buzz-buzz-buzz (pause) buzz-buzz-buzz ) and/or whether you can change it to suit your preferences (a friend of mine claims he can use an app called chomp sms to do this on his S2. All help appreciated.
Hi there,
by default it´s a simple buzz-buzz. But there are al lot of apps to change that, e.g.:
