Hey Guys,
I would not be posting this if I had not already tried everything. After flashing various ROMS, i have the good ol' OS says its 100% when i charge, and the moment i unplug it goes down to 96%. I have tried doing all the various battery calibration methods, but none help ( mostly because i can never really get up too 100%, not matter how many times i charge it). Is my battery faulty?
Thanks in advance
You are on a 2.2.1 rom. Try as you might you will net get 100%. Known issue

Yes, I am on 2.2.1. Do you suggest trying a different one? I am thinking of switching to a Rogers based one (my captivate is from Rogers)

Switch to a 2.2 based kernel. I got 100% when on 2.2.1 rom but a 2.2 based kernel, like SetiroN's v1.4.7.

Ok, sounds good, i will give it a try. thank you for the advice
Bump for more advice
I tried all the above, and switched to firefly ROM, but after calibrating it (as in had to try at least 10 times charging it to even get to 99%) it improved by 1%, so now it charges to 97%. Any more suggestions? thx.

That's strange. Which version did u use? 1.4.7 1200 version always worked for me.

Well, that kernel is not compatible with the firefly rom (i could be wrong) I have not had time to try too many combinations, but that's my next step today. I shall try a different 2.2.1 rom with the kernel you suggested. Switching to a Rogers 2.2 did not fix the problem tho. I will report back and let you know.

I was referring to switching back to stock when I said I I tried the suggestions. Like I said above, I will try your method tonight. I wanted to see if there is a solution without flashing. Thx for the advice again.

It amazes me what people go through for the littlest things. If your battery is charging fully, to around 4180mv after removing it from the charger, it is full regardless of what the % reading is. Continually "calibrating" and "bump charging" is pointless and will cause more harm in the long run.
It worked! Problem solved. Thank you! I have used the Setiron 1.5.6 kernel, and my battery is at 100%.

Even I was so bugged out with it initially I switched to SetiroN's. But I now I learnt to live with it.

I'm fairly new to all this droid stuff and been learning all kinds of stuff from this forum. I have one big question and that is what is the difference between JF6 compared to JH2/JH3? My captivate has JF6 and I've seen the firmware updates for the others. Is there any major improvements or am I better off sticking with what I have?
I think JH3 is quicker and seems a bit more stable, its also newer.
One thing to watch out for is the logging that comes with JH2/3. There are some easy remedies to fix it though.
Im currently using JH3 matched with unhelpful's 1.2 Kernel v1.1 and SRE1.0 My phone is performing the best it ever has.

how is your battery performance now with jh3.
the gps on jf6 for me is amazing i've only used it twice but both times it was all good, very accurate on maps, so i hope its the same or better if it can get better.
Battery performace seems normal, maybe draws a bit quicker with the overclock.
GPS locks in 4 to 5 seconds. Then again i have some tweaks built in with SRE.

So since I've flashed my phone from firefly 2.4 I've been getting limited service at times with my phone. I've also tried a couple different modems as well and I am still getting the same thing.
I always do a flash to stock with a master clear before doing anything. I'm not sure what's causing it, but it's rather annoying. Also if I go into airplane mode and come out of it, it tells me there is no sim card and to install and reboot. I'm currently running firefly 2.6 with suckerpunch voodoo. Any thoughts and/or help would be greatly appreciated!

I'd try some more modems. I've tried several, and some I get really good service, and some crap. Just have to try them.

I factory reset today, and im having this problem like ago, came from MIUI yesterday and those problems came back to CM7.
EDIT: I see in OS monitor that the process of settings Storage is alive using more that 2% but less than 15%, is that normal?

Are you running the latest cm7? (as in its 2.3.5?) Pretty sure that bug was fixed past 2.3.3 (I could be wrong)
Edit: After reading a little on their wiki (its been a while since Ive used Cyanogenmod) I found out that If you are running a "stable" version you are on 2.3.3 and that's a bug on android's side.

im running the latest nightly, with stock kernel, but my phone was working good, since the update to 2.3.5, i think the problem is an app, but i dont know if its really an app, because is something in the OS, so i dont know if it is an app of the system, i dont really know, but i want to fix this problem.

Wipe and reflash and do not install any apps. Verify if the problem is a app or not. Also do not run widgets or anything else, basically run it as close to stock as you can.

To be honest i wouldn't know. I don't like AOSP roms on the Galaxy S phones. To be honest haven't been on CM7 since nightly was 2.3.3 (been a while). But from my experience Native roms work better for longer periods of times. But I9000 ports work well enough. I also like Audience chip support.

ok changing a bit the topic, do you know if the GB bootloaders are running good with aosp roms? because i would like to try Stock GB on my cappy, but i dont like the idea of flashing the bootloader because i dont want to lose the ability to change between roms.
I believe it is, but your kernel might have to change. I do know both CM7 and MIUI have a few kernels to chose from, some might be limited to a specific bootloader. Again I could be wrong.

Hi Folks, I hve had my note for 1 year now and haven't had any battery problems until 2 days ago when I flashed a jb rom. All was fine for about 10 hours when I started to recharge the battery again that went fine, charged to 100% and unplugged, the phone said it was at 100%. After another few hours the phone cut out, no warning just cut out. I could get the phone back on but only when plugged into the charger. So, heres my problem, phone says battery is fully charged but when I unplug the charger it cuts out now. if I boot in to recovery with out the charger it stays on for hours. if I try to start the phone up normally with out charger it doesn't work. I have tried another battery again it started fine for almost a day then the same problems again. I have tried several kernels and roms in case it was one of those that was causing the problem but its the same every time. Im not a newb when it comes to flashing roms some im 100% sure its all ok in that department. any help would be appreciated.
thanks
Graham

What really matters here is your screen on time (I can get around 4h30 with heavy use). I also see you have a few notifications so there might be some draining apps running in the background (like that *** Facebook app which is constantly running in the background even with notifications off). In any case BBS should help you identify the "rogue" app (if any). Also I don't use Google Now as it's kind of a battery killer.
this problem is same with me...after 1 year use gnote
and this is battery problem..i dont know whats is causing it...
i try to enter recovery mode and ..battery is good..almost 4 hours screen on recovery mode
but if I try to start the phone up normally phone is reboot after 1minute in homescreen android
trying with different rom jb ..same problem ..
after replace my battery ..problem is gone..
@strachg If the phone used to work well before you flashed JB I'd recommend going back to ICS to see if the problem persists. If it disappears the reason is JB which would not supprise me since all JB roms for the Note are not really bug free. If the phone continues to behave like you described and changing the battery does not help either I'd say it's a hardware failure.

Hi, Yeah I already tried going back to ics and it was just the same, it just seems like a bit of coincidence and really annoying lol. The only thing I can think off that is causing it is as you say that its a hardware fault and it must be overcharging the battery and breaking it. If it was JB that was causing it im sure I wouldn't have been the only one by now.
thanks
Graham
how did you install jb? Was it clean on safe kernel? You havent eliminated the possibility of software issues.
Qazibazit, it looks ok.
Guideline 3,5-4,5 hours on screen time is normal (if you play games can be less, thus is from full to 1%). Total standby time, usually more then 24 hours is normal.
If you have a lot less, go read ahalfords sticky on wakelocks. All you need to know to optimize battery.

Hi baz 77 yeah using safe kernel, tried a few actually. And using utackas. Version of paranoid android now again tried a few Roms. Everything was wiped and redone the process about 20 times. I looked through all the roms. And kernel threads and no one has had this problem. New battery coming so will see how it goes now.
Cheers

Hello Friends,
Nowadays, I am facing a weird problem. Everytime when i was using my phone for a while, screen flickers and phone shutdown. When starting the phone, it says battery discharged or 1%, needs to recharge again and it happen in every 2-3 hours.
Also, i tried different roms thinking might be problem with the ROMs (i tried STOCK as well other ROMS). I also tried to calliberate the battery with different paid and free application but no luck.
Could you please suggest is my battery dead or some tweaks needs to be done?
Early help is really appreciated.
Thanks.

Need a new battery mate, this is normal around this time, I've had mine since November 2011 and it had the same thing happen. Have just ordered a new stock.
A lot of people started suffering with this after 10 months so you've done quite well to get 12 out of it.
