[Q] Nexus One replacement casing - Nexus One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I got my Nexus One a few weeks ago, and I'm loving it! Thing is, it was pre-owned, and the casing has scuffs on the corners and a few minor scratches on the back. I was wondering if it's possible to replacement the casing surrounding the battery cover, and the front, silver casing. Does anybody know where I could get these? I've looked on the htcaccessory shops, eBay and didn't find anything useful. One thing to bear in mind, I'm in the UK. You can still point me to US based stuff, but it would be great if there was a UK alternative!
Thanks,
redbullcat

No need to wait for the released of that "official" silicon case. You can get one from eBay. I bought mine recently and I'm very satisfied. And from the looks of it based on your picture, I think the one I bought is much better than the official one. Well that's only my perception.
Get the propota Mizu shell
Hi Guys,
I bought one of the silicon shell and most of them has a one big hole in the back rather than three different holes for the camera, led flash and speaker.
When i started to use this silicon thing i noticed that the camera could easily can get damaged as it's wide open due to the big hole so i bought the propota case called MIZU. This has three small holes and very snug fit.
Personally it's alittle expensive but comapred to how much it would cost and the hassle of getting HD2 fixed in case the camera got f**** up I would spend the 19 quid on this. Last phone i had was orbit 2 and i know the pain of trying to get a camera fixed.
hers the link if anyone interested - http://www.proporta.com/F02/PPF02P05.php?t_id=4877&t_mode=des

I bought one on ebay that looks just like that for £6. including shipping http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190375120340&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT It's a perfect fit and looks great. The "gel" finish doesn't pick up lint like the silicone cases.
There were cheaper ones that looked similar from China, but I wanted it in a hurry.

The US T-Mobile HD2 comes with a silicon case? I was about to order one because I plan on getting the HD2 as soon as its released in the US, but thats great if it already has one included.

Do not buy the seidio innocase II

After reading such great reviews of this case I ordered it. I've been using it about a month and it's great. The rubber feel is nice, the case is durable and protects the phone well, very thin so it doesn't make your phone too bulky.
BUT
The damn rubber coating is flaking off all over this damn thing!!
I take pretty good care of my phones, there is no reason for this. It lives in my front shirt pocket by itself or placed on a flat surface.
Slowly the rubber coating is deteriorating and I'm left with a cheap plasticy case. I contacted seidio about this and received a "copy-and-paste" computer response to send in proof of purchase, pictures etc. It honestly isn't worth my time and am really upset on the garbage quality of the case. I'm going to pickup the silicone verizon case next...
I recently bought this case too, but I haven't experienced any of the problems you're describing yet. I don't notice any peeling on mine whatsoever, but then again I've only had the case for a few weeks. Has anyone else encountered this problem?
Haven't had that happen to me. Had mine for about a month now.
I probably got a bad batch then, but if you notice it happening update your posts in here.
Had two of these (black and purple) for my wife and me, not had this issue on either and bought them in early July.
I have the same case, I've seen a few spots where it's flaking off or rubbed through. I will have no qualms about making them send me a new one when it starts to really look bad. I know some people that have already gotten 3 or 4 replacements. They are a good company, let them fix it for you - even if they have to fix it over and over again.
Rather than coming in here and claiming the case should not be bought by anyone, stop the drama and send them what they want so you can get a brand new one. Why would you spend that kind of money and then blow it off because you're too lazy to send them a few things??

It's good to know that they will cover it if this ever happens to my case, thanks for the info.
does this case push up the screen protector? i recently purchased a case from ebay and thats the problem im having. im having a hard time finding a case that will protect my phone without pushing up the sides of the screen protector
Same is happening on mine and I've had it for about 2 months. In the bottom left corner, the soft rubber is coming off significantly. My first Innocase was too loose so this is my second one. After they cancelled the car dock I don't see myself using it for much longer.

Unforturnatley it does push up on my ghost armor screen protector. The screen protector itself is slighty a little to small . But it is just enough for the case to catch the edge of it and push on it. If the screen protector was an exact fit it might not do it. But all of the protectors that I have tried are never an exact fit.
I don't have this case, but was seriously considering buying it. On amazon there's a review of a guy who said it scratched his phone all up (inside the case). According to him it's happening to everyone - "just check the forums" he says. When I saw the title of the thread I expected it to be about that, but it's something totally different. Soooo... what's a good case for this thing?
It's true.
I have this case and all around the front housing (the black edge) are scratches.
Mainly they are at the top part of the case and I don't even understand what caused them.
Though I still use the case.
i am experiencing this flaking too. it's looking like ass.
No issues with mine. Had it for 6 weeks or so. If it starts flaking, I'll buy a new case. Not like it cost me 50 bucks or something.

Not trying to get you all fired up or anything, but a good company doesn't only mean they have good replacement warranties. In my mind at least it means they make a good product too. I would definitely not be happy with any company if i had to replace their product every few months and get another one. Building a brand name starts with a good product and good customer service together.
I'm not a big fan of cases and sleeves because in most cases you can "see" and "feel" the phone; i have the zagg shield on mine and i have been absolutely happy with it.
I don't think I've had any of mine long enough to have the rubber flake off. Mine have all fit like ass, especially at the top left corner. I'm on my third case since June. The bezel of my phone is all scratched up due to the poor fit allowing the case to rub dirt/dust/debris into the phone. Seidio has been very prompt in replacing the cases... The first 2 times. Now they've apparently realized they're losing their asses on shipping (the same poor quality) replacement product and are expecting me to advance ship the case at my expense before they'll replace it. They're also refusing to replace it with a different Seidio product that, I've heard, doesn't have the same issues.
In short, I agree with the OP. Don't buy the case.

Do you have the Zagg screen only or the "full body?"

Full body. Be aware though that the curved edges and sides are not covered. So in other words if you drop your phone a lot this might not be the solution for you. It's also really easy to install the zagg shield on your own but if you prefer them to do it then its $10 extra. Cheers!
This is not to attempt to discredit the OP; I've had my case for 2+ months and it still looks great and functions well. There is some contact rubbing on the corners but then again i take the damn thing in and out of the holster 100 times a day and have dropped it a few times as well on brick.
Hey guys,
This is something I see alot of with iPhone cases at the Apple Store. The most popular cases, similar to how Droid seems to favor Siedio, is the Incase Slider Cases. These are generally plastic cases, with a matte-finish paint on them (my friend has the Innocase, and it's the same material). That paint is known to, over time, deteriorate.
For every customer that comes in with it flaking away after 2 weeks, I have one that comes in a whole year later with just a tiny flake. It depends on the batch, sometimes, and from what i've been able to see exposure to heat, sweat, and sun. The more it's exposed to those elements, the more it flakes away, I believe.
Also, if you're having problems with a case pushing up your film screen, you might not have it properly aligned. With the same aforementioned slider cases and the anti-glare film screens, if you're screen is even slightly off center to the right by a smidgeon, the case is super tight and pushes it up/causes those nasty bubbles.
So, you might want to try re-appling it and making sure it's perfect center.
Hope this is some helpful information.

[Q] Anyone know of metal unibody for HD2?

Hi,
I realised recently that our HTC Leo bodies are made of a fairly flexible plastic, which leads to cracks in the body. Wife has a HTC Legend and it has that aluminium unibody which i thought would be very cool replacement for HTC HD2.
Does anyone know or has anyone seen replacement phone body replacement that is made of metal?
Note: I'm not talking about a protective case, i'm talking about the chasis of the phone itself.

ok .. so as far as i know the htc legend has an aluminum body crafted out of a single block of aluminum , which is the specialty or the unique selling point of the phone..
so if you want a similar or a metal body for your phone .. you should get it custom made for your self..
or may be you can find your self a jinnie who could complete this wish for you...
what kind of cracks? my phone still looks new after 7 or 8 months

Replacement Screen

So one week into having my incredible, it drops on the sidewalk (2days before my rugged case came in) and the glass cracked/shattered. the lcd is still completely intact. I was looking at this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00424O7JK/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A3MB8KL7VKZGWY . And was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I have replaced other screens in other electronic devices, but was looking for any tips specific to the inc or any recommendations on a replacement glass.
I bought mine off ebay and swapped it out. My opinion is to spend the money and buy the whole front housing. Removing the broken glass from the front housing was a MAJOR pain. If you are insistant, make sure you have a good straight razor and flathead screw driver for removing the sticky residue. Head to the local hardware store and get some double-sided tape. If you look in the Epoxy area, i found some double sided rubber material, like what they use for sticking pamphlets together, only a lot stronger. If you dont get it sealed real well, be prepared for lint to get between the screen and LCD. That is the major problem i ahve on mine. Like i said, definitely worth the money to buy the full front housing.
Thanks for the advice. I saw on some videos what a pain it was to get the old glass and adhesive out, but the cheapest I could find the glass with housing already attached was $99 vs $28 for the glass. I wish I would've seen your post prior to ordering. Oh well, we shall see. Thanks also for the advice on the double sided tape. I was looking at it online, but didn't thing to look in just a local harware store for it. I think i'm going to try some medical adhesive remover for the old glue, the only problem is I'm going to have to be really careful around the four buttons on the bottom. It is nice to see that someone has done it successfully though.
You can get the glass and the bezel seperate, but make sure the bezel has adhesive on the entire surface or else you'll get dust in the screen... I fixed mine though and it looks great. Ill post pics later
