So one week into having my incredible, it drops on the sidewalk (2days before my rugged case came in) and the glass cracked/shattered. the lcd is still completely intact. I was looking at this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00424O7JK/ref=ord_cart_shr?ie=UTF8&m=A3MB8KL7VKZGWY . And was wondering if anyone had any experience with it. I have replaced other screens in other electronic devices, but was looking for any tips specific to the inc or any recommendations on a replacement glass.
I bought mine off ebay and swapped it out. My opinion is to spend the money and buy the whole front housing. Removing the broken glass from the front housing was a MAJOR pain. If you are insistant, make sure you have a good straight razor and flathead screw driver for removing the sticky residue. Head to the local hardware store and get some double-sided tape. If you look in the Epoxy area, i found some double sided rubber material, like what they use for sticking pamphlets together, only a lot stronger. If you dont get it sealed real well, be prepared for lint to get between the screen and LCD. That is the major problem i ahve on mine. Like i said, definitely worth the money to buy the full front housing.
Thanks for the advice. I saw on some videos what a pain it was to get the old glass and adhesive out, but the cheapest I could find the glass with housing already attached was $99 vs $28 for the glass. I wish I would've seen your post prior to ordering. Oh well, we shall see. Thanks also for the advice on the double sided tape. I was looking at it online, but didn't thing to look in just a local harware store for it. I think i'm going to try some medical adhesive remover for the old glue, the only problem is I'm going to have to be really careful around the four buttons on the bottom. It is nice to see that someone has done it successfully though.
You can get the glass and the bezel seperate, but make sure the bezel has adhesive on the entire surface or else you'll get dust in the screen... I fixed mine though and it looks great. Ill post pics later

Thanks for sharing; however you would have been better off posting in the Cases thread where we all go to see what's happening in the world of cases.

Agree with above poster, can a mod fix this?
Nice case! ive also ordered 1 last week at PDAir, the 1 without a screen, so easy acces, but fewer protection. I am hoping its more solid so i can put it in my back pocket without getting a red face everytime i realize i accidently put it there...
When did you order it and did it took long (i am eager to get mine, but now hope is gone till monday or tuesday...)
I disagree.
The "Cases" thread is too long and too complicated for discussing any one specific case.
Anyway I ordered mine just a moment ago and would very much like to hear how quick was the shipment, how snug is the fit and how reassuring the neoprene feels
It's a shame they opted for a plastic screen protector instead of either a window-less aluminum door or a transparent cover that lets you work with the touchscreen.

mohasea,
How thick is the plastic cover over the screen?
Does the plastic cover flex?
Do you think the plastic cover would prevent the screen being cracked if dropped screen down on ummm concrete?

I totally agree, wish they had a solid aluminum front door instead of the window cut-out covered in plastic or the other option they have of no plastic window cut-out. I would order one now, even not having my Leo yet, just because the front door was solid aluminum.
I am going to contact PDair and see if they would leave a few front doors out of the cnc cutter and have a full cover aluminum
Would you like one too, Duperman ?
Thank you,
Monnie
I have ordered an open screen case despite it may not fully protect the screen. HD2 has a glass screen and it is hard enough against scratch as what has been in iphone.
Would you like one too, Duperman?

Absolutely
Mine, the one without screen plastic, is supposed to arrive between now and Jan 27th next year...(sometime)
take care
Anyone got theirs yet?
Would love to see some detailed photos and a review of the case pros/cons
Thank you,
Monnie
I'm debating whether to go with their leather flip case or this aluminum case...
I got this case and immediatly wished there was no plastic screen on the front door. So, I held it over some boiling water for about 2 mins and and then used my thumb nail (not kidding it was easy) to pry the plastic from the metal. The whole lot peeled off easily, i replaced the foam into the case and BAM perfect case. (be careful not to rip the foam, but if you do it will still stick back. also the foam stretched out a bit but pushed back into shape no problem. TIP: Work from the front side of the case, wedge your nail into the seem and loosen it all the way around. If it starts to get tough again, hold it over steam for a while longer.
Also.. when the plastic was still inplace and the case door was closed, there would be random screen presses and that was not cool, however now that the plastic is out, i can leave the door closed, press when I want too, AND there is no random case presses
I know this sounds like a poor fix, but it worked awesome and it looks like it was SUPPOSED to come this way.
Now all i need is for my zag shield (front only) to show up and im perfectly protected (minus water damage dammit)
awesome case guys im not kidding. you dont have to put the nubbin on in the back either so it doesnt add much bulk to teh phone. good luck yo.
Got mine too and I use the black open faced aluminum for local use and insert the whole unit;
aluminum case and all into the Maxpedition "Rat" wallet for carrying on belts etc.... http://www.maxpedition.com/store/pc/...&idcategory=11
Like it alot....
FWIW
well, do not kill me if I say so .. but it is ugly as hell.
I do not say that it does not protect the phone, or the the finishing it's not ok .. but from a slim phone with a huge screen, it looks like a bullet proof brick with a screen.
The whole idea of an elegant smartphone it's gone.
Small question: what do you hate about the original leather case?
It is elegant, slim easy to use and protect the phone in normal use conditions or small accidents.
Capdase Alumor Metal Case
Bought this silicon w/ aluminium backcover case by CAPDASE in Hong Kong, adding a more "solid" feel over the pure silicon case. It comes with a CAPDASE screen protector as well.
http://www.mobimega.com/capdase-alumor-metal-case-htc-hd2.html
Beware that the silicon case may not glue well to the aluminum backcover (I think it's the factory problem) which may leave a small gap between them when you put the phone in. I have to apply some glue to fix that myself. Apart from the case is nice and not too costly.

Hi,
I am seriously thinking about ordering one for my Desire (A8181).
But what I'm not able to find, is how it works. I mean, you seem to describe the case as a silicone skin, with a metal plate sticked to it.
I thought it was more like a silicone skin with another semi-case to "clip" over the silicon....
Can you confirm if I am right or wrong?
And can you post multiple angles pictures?
Thank you, it would be much appreciated!
thanks but
so uglly
Ohh Great!
Thanks for the pictures! To me is one of the best cases i've ever seen.
I recently dropped my hd2 and the glass around the lens broke off now the lens is exposed. is there a case that will cover it or a camera lens replacement.
Update: I know im not the only one in America with a glass crack where my lens is and would like to know where to get this fixed or a part site?
I just dropped and broke my camera lens as well today.
mines also cracked after 2 weeks of use....called customer service and they did a manufacturer's warranty and got the replacement right away
Check on eBay - they have direct replacement lenses - OEM. You will have to figure out a way to get some double sided tape to mount it for most of them.
VERY CHEAP - fortunately they are available.
found a replacement on ebay. you dont need to take apart phone or anything. i just super glued around the lens and popped in. good as new.
if $ is not an option look at this...
http://cnn.cn/shop/htc-hd2-oem-housing-set-p-8816.html
They are cheaper on ebay. just ordered one.
Get the Otterbox Defender. I think it is the only case out there truly protecting the camera lens.
i have a cracked camera lens..how do i take it off?
Since it's already cracked, use a knife or something and carefully pry into the cracked area and pull up the cracked glass. Thats how I did it. Just becareful not to push too hard.
is there like walktrhough guide video for this?
Sorry, theres no video or walk through that I know of. As long as you pry off the broken lens its simple from there. Just pry off the lens and then just stick the new one in. Theres not much more than that. You don't have to take the phone apart or anything.
A small sewing needle is a great tool to use. Just pry out the broken piece or you can even do it from the side. What I found when I did it was that there was a ring of adhesive that is difficult to reset correctly once you take the broken lens out. I actually just took the needle and scraped off the adhesive and placed the new lens in so that it's below the surface (beveled, I guess you could say). It stays in just like the old one -- otherwise you'll scratch it the minute you put it down on the table.

What happens if it breaks again now that you used super glue?
...I used some 3M double sided tape and a hole punch. I cut it to size and punched a hole in the middle...carefully cleaned all the old adhesive off and dropped it in. Its not going anywhere and absolutely no dust can get under it...if it breaks again (which it may...so I ordered two because the price was so cheap) it will be much easier to remove than super glue.
Do not bother buying.
I know they're free but delivery still costs.
They stick on terribly, very fiddly and stick to your fingers when trying to place them so even IF you manage to get it on right there's still finger prints.
Oh and they're the wrong shape.
I can confirm this also.
They are badly cut, sent in small letter which for me was all wrinkled.
They also should have that water application which comes with Zagg shields so they would stick better, but they dont.
I used my zagg water thingy and it made this little better, but still these are no where near good as real invisible shields.
for example if you dont believe me, try cutting these with scissors, it will be easy and no problem. Then try cutting invisible shields by Zagg, not that easy, you barely can cut it with razorblade into shape you want.
put your moneys into real deal if you want to cover your precious device.
Ive installed 4-6 zagg's shields and now one of these. (ordered 2 but didn't install other one because quality didn't strike me.)
Just received one few days before.
The glue just stickes to your fingers and leave fingerprints all over the glued side.
The site claimed it's perfect cut for Tmobile HD2 but the one I ordered and received clearly is NOT for Tmobile HD2 as it's shorter.
the glued surface cannot make bubble-free contact with the LCD.
Some $2 LCD protector from eBay is better than this.
Here is the ONLY good protector.

actually, i took my time and installed it over a 3 day period. I did the sides one day and the back and other parts the next and let completely sit wrapped in seran wrap the 3rd day. after all was dried and done, i have no fingerprints, no bubbles and while the corners arent completely covered, the shield does the job. I will post pics later.
Is this all I need?

Thanks in advance!
as someone who's done the repair twice. Don't buy from ebay as they sell cheaper knockoffs.
Its actually pretty complicated and almost worth the money to send it in for repair.
Really.
i disagree, the repair was fairly easy if youre following a guide. ive done it once and taken mine completely apart twice. the most difficult part was separating the broken glass from the rubber part where it is mounted and getting the bottom part of the phone off without breaking it or leaving marks. I used spray adhesive to seal the new digitizer to the mount. I bought mine from amazon, just about the same price and came with prying tools. it was good quality with only a single miniature air bubble in the glass which is only noticeable if youre really looking for it on a full white screen.
if only your glass is broken that is all you should need, the digitizer. if the lcd is cracked or bleeding you will need that as well.
I would like to know if anyone has purchased this case?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aluminum-Metal-Case-Gorilla-glass-Dust-Proof-for-samsung-galaxy-Note2-II-N7100-/151116254434?pt=US_Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=450203708254&hash=item232f3b0ce2
I already own a silver hunterF case which is identical to this one except for the gorilla glass part which
Caught my attention as I feel it would eliminate the need for a screen protector. But here are my concerns from what I see the glass is held in place by some 3m tape and when I flash a rom I have to pull out the battery to restart the device etc. or for whatever reason so I guess I would have to pull off the glass but I’m guessing that would damage the adhesion of the tape...

True it probably will be less adhesive, if at all after removal, but im not really sure. This case is very intriguing just because of the glass front plate. I also just purchsed lots of 3m tape for a repair job of a broken screen on an s3, so the constant removal would be annoying but not a problem.
I really like these cases, I'v been thinking of getting one.
I came across this one in my searches
http://www.casefanatic.com/samsung-...etal-note/coque-galaxy-note-2-zomgo-keyi-box/
This one is magnetic instead of adhesive. If that interests you.
After looking at cases all day, I now thinking that if you dropped either of these cases, the front glass screen would be easily cracked since it is very exposed, structurally. Even impacts on the sides might crack the glass. They still look good though.
