[Q] Any of GPS fixes doesnt work. HELP!!! - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

No matter what i do, no matter what i try gps still doesnt work. I tried different modems, the fix where you have to enter number in dial and change some settings. I cant use fixes where you need to do something with hardware, because i really dont know how to do it. Also i dont know how to ADB, so i cant try jupiter fix. Please help! What else can i do?
Now im running 2.2.1 XWJS3 with jpx modem, hardcore 500khz kernel.

If you have indeed tried all the fixes then the next step is Samsung Service Centre .
You say GPS does not work a fix will not fix hardware if it does not work a fix only makes the location a bit more accurate .

how do i use ODIN to go back to stock Like Completely / wiping out everything
because i came from Galaxy S, and when i used Odin to go to froyo (internation galaxy s ver) then odin back to 2.1 (US galaxy s version) it fixed the problems that reflashing couldnt fix.

[Q] Help Proximity and Position Sensor not working

Since i've update my SGS to android froyo the Proximity sensor stoped working and the position sensor taken 30sec to turn the image...
I've used the test mode code to check hardware error, but there everything is working perfectly...
If I put the Android 2.1 the problem doesn't show up.
Does anyone have the same problem or solution?
Nobody has this issue?
Is quite strange... because if i put a Android 2.1 ROM everything works just fine, but with later version of android the sensors still working (using test mode from SGS Tools, I confirmed that the sensors are just fine), but the system takes a huge time (~30sec) to do something...
Please, if anyone knows anything that could solve this problem, please say something!
I think that in the first week that I had Froyo everything warked fine, but I'm not sure...
Is there any way to do a complete reset and set everything to default values including Hardware settings?
I've already done Factory reset and Full factory reset, by CWM and Code.
Nobody??? Anything???
Is this a genuine samsung rom you are using .
A flashed rom or a genuine Kies updated firmware .
jje
I'm now using a ROM official (sam***gfirmwares.co*) flashed by ODIN.
Should I try use Kies?
No i was just trying to rule out a flakey rom .
My usual suggestion is a wipe via ODIN
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=882014
But i would stop at Eclair and see if its solved the problem if OK upgrade further .
jje
Its the same thing...
Its quite awkward, because only apendds in Froyo...
why not try a custom froyo rom, head over to doc's kitchen and cook yourself one up. also try lagfix, and any other speed up tweaks. how does the phone respond normally ?? without the sensors ? is it quite speedy or does it lag ??
The phone work just fine but when i turn the phone it take a lot of time to twist the image... I can even still interact with the screen until it turns...
The proximity sensor takes a lot of time too...
No one else has this problem?

[Request Files] GPS not working at all. Original files requested.

GPS used to work for me, until I found a thread back in 2010.
The thread stated to remove some GPS files, and replace with new ones posted.
After doing that, GPS did not work.
I thought plumb GPS fix, and Cognition rom would help fix it, but it did not.
I think the files that were changed was the problem.
Mind if anyone would share GPS files?
Probably return to stock and then reinstall your Rom of choice would be the easiest and surefire way that it should fix it
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
someone posted them somewhere.. a search should yield some results
IGNORE for now. I am looking them up again.
If ur still on froyo then u could try sgs tool.In the secret codes u'll find gps, now here u can delete gps data, and also u should change the lbstest mode settings manually before reaplying plumbBob fix for ur location.Just FOLLOW TROUGH the IPMORTANT AND INSTALLATION section highlighted torward the bottom of the first post of the op
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957164
This worked 4 me on all the froyo roms I used in the past, o and to be sure use vs 1.0 of plumbubs fix or just upgrade gingerbread and ur gps problems will be in the past

[Q] *#*#3214789650#*#* GPS Settings Not Working

The above code does not display the GPS Setup on DXJPE.... Any other way to access GPS?
BTW, GPS works faster since I upgraded to JPE. I only encountered this when I read thru overcome Tips and |Tweaks....
Try only *#3214789650# & report back.

Also in overcome tips there is mentioned about clearing Angry GPS data.....My AngryGPS data is zero(0) so nothing to clear.
Weird try placing it as a call. I will try to look up alternative codes.
EDIT try gps test vodes from here http://www.askvg.com/google-android-hidden-secret-codes/

I cannot place it as a call(pressing call button,is what you mean?)
The numbers disappear from the phone app after I enter the last #
Ah ok I think your angryGPS is fracked. Try a factory Reset if it didnt work reflash.
Thank you for advising. GPS is working ok so at the moment I will not factory reset just to get the GPS settings all lose all customizations in the process.
Update: Used Titanium to backup. Then, downgrade via kies to JK2(number code is working on this version, tested it) then update to DXJPE thru kies. Still problem exist. Then factory reset and reflashed JPE problem still there.
DEFINITELY A DXJPE BUG....although I don't experience any problem with gps,but then I only use gps in Maps.....I even installed GPS TEST and it was ok.

[Q] After using the phone -> No connection and phone shuts down

Alright, I have very strange problem on my phone.
It happens when I browse the internet with my phone. Suddenly, I lose my connection. Then the phone shuts down. When I open in again it has 1-4% battery and still no connection.
I have no idea what the reason could be.
I've tried to change rom but it didnt help. From 4.0.4->4.0.4 (currently)
Thank in advance
I'd like to add to OP that my phone shuts down after long use, I dont have to be at the internet.
Does anyone have any idea?
Hmmm.. which rom exactly did u have and do have at the moment ? Btw morjes, suomesta kans:silly:

Moro.
I had SlimICS first, then I changed to XI9000 -style ROM.
But I dont think the problem is because of the rom, as I didnt have the problem first on SlimICS, but then suddenly it just "appeared".
Should I try to change the modem?
Weird.. yes, i would try to change modems, if that doesnt work i would maybe try a re install of the rom.. btw which modem are u using? I want to use xxjvu because i get a better connection with that but i get the roaming sign after installing it :X

I had JVT.
Alright, I flashed JVU now, the phone doesnt turn off anymore. But still it loses the connection, which basicully means I have to restart my phone.
Can you recommend any other modems? (modems that work in Finland)
Well, the one on my sig works good.. but that doesnt sound like a modem issua at all, i think u might have to try and install a new rom.. i wpuld suggest a FULL wipe and sd card formating before u do

Yes, I think you're right.
Im going to flash 2.2/2.3 with odin and format sd-card, after that I will flash again this 4.0.4 rom. If it doesnt work then I have no clue.
Thanks
Yes, that sounds right. Good luck!
Alright..
So I flashed Darky's Resurrection Edition Android 2.3.6 with Odin (repartition+pit+pda)
It didnt help, phone still shuts down.
Now I think Im going to backup my sd-card and try a 2.2 Rom.
could be battery related
Hi,
you've probably solved your problem by now, but just in case, here's what I found researching this issue (I have the very same problem):
This seems to be happening to various phones (although, SGS I9000 and its variants are the most frequent), various ROM and kernels. It is very
probably battery related as the solutions which helped people ease the problem the most were sticking a bit of a bussiness card under the battery
to make contacts tighter, scratch the contacts on the battery itself with scissors or some other metal tool as they have become oxidized through
frequent charging (this significantly reduced number of my shutdowns, but didn't eliminate them) and buying a complete new battery (by far the
most successful solution, although, even this didn't help some people )
