i flashed my cappy from cog to the froyo but data and voice didnt seem to work, flashed back to stock then did a master clear and reflashed to froyo and same issue no data or voice, it shows the airplane mode although the setting says its off...
any suggestions?
EDIT: com.android.phone seems to be the problem, i cant access it using the *#... etc method...
how can i fix this?
I would try doing a master clear, then one-clicking. Also, some others said that simply rebooting may help. Also, is applicable, dont restore "system apps and data" from titanium backup, only "missing apps plus data" hope this helps
nope didnt work, i didnt even restore anything yet, its just weird because everything works flawless except voice and data....any help is appreciated

Access Point Names (is it empty? is there an entry but it doesnt have a green dot next to it?)

OR
if default does not work, try adding a NEW APN. you will find settings around the forums for APN
Go to settings and do a reset to factory in there. That fixes a similar error for me.

2.) Flash to stock JF6 using ODIN
3.) UPDATE TO JH7 using KIES MINI (I think this may fix the airplane mode issue)
4.) Flash to Froyo using ODIN'

nope, i cant even access mobile networks it gives me an error "check simcard if its inserted" but it is, and when i flash back to jm or jh it works fine...

So only the update to JI6 (Froyo) causes the issue?
Maybe the link you downloaded from was corrupt? There was about 20 links last night haha.
yea only the ji6, cant be corrupt because i downloaded the orginal (was one of the first to download it) and a mirrored one.... still something fishy, be in mind i did have cog with voodoo and i never disabled it the lag fix... but im guessing the whole rom wouldnt work if that was the issue correct?
VooDoo would have been cleared when you did Master Clear, I believe.
Maybe try the Kies Mini update to JH7 and THEN flash the Froyo.

just do a simple re-boot......it looses the baseband after froyo update...a simple re-boot gets the baseband back.....try it!

That's the FIRST thing I do if I run into any problems on android
im trying the kies jh7 then flash method, but i did reboot several times and baseband never came back....should it be unplugged to pc or plugged?
Let me know how the Kies JH7 and then Flash method works for you; I think it SHOULD work because I was on stock JH7 when I flashed to Froyo JI6 and I have had nothing but a great experience since!

I was reading other posts where guys were having that issue with phones that were not on att network. This seems to lock you onto att and no other network will work. At least that was the opinion of the other posts.
FOUND THE PROBLEM BUT CANT SOLVE IT !!!!

Start from scratch my friend:
1.) Re-Flash Stock ODIN JF6 and then update to JH7 using Kies Mini
2.) REDOWNLOAD Froyo JI6 using the same link I did:

3.) Before Flashing JI6 please do a master clear, factory data reset and FORMAT all your SD cards
Then that should solve any problems you have buddy!

To do a master clear, enable usb debugging on your captivate, go to the homescreen, open odin, plug in your device. Once it is recognized press master clear from the homescreen. It will clear it and reboot your device

G1 wifi has stopped working and has 'error' listed underneath wifi option in wireless setting...
Also, the sd card doesn't mount... what's worse is this problem is intermittent..
I'm currently using FroyobyLaszlo 5 and the problems are both still here.. I was using cm6.1 for awhile and eventually tried a couple other roms, but the wifi error and sdcard problem carry over thru each flash. I forget which rom i flashed to where the wifi function broke.. I've flashed back to the cm6.1 2708port nandroid backup I saved (which was the last working rom where I had working wifi) and still the wifi error! I've tried a few different kernels as well and still nothing..
Can somebody help me get these fixed?? ..thanks

UPDATE 1: I began to re-flash the original tmobile nbh image in order to restore the phone and start all over again, but now I'm stuck with that image flashed and can't access fastboot on the phone anymore.. The phone probably needs to be re-rooted now, but I can't access wifi (which means I can't sign in to google in order to get to the phone's desktop and then perform the root procedure).. Now I can't flash anything!! HELP plz???

UPDATE 2 - Ok, I got everything (hboot 1.33.0013d , radio 2.22.28.25, laszlo 5.1 rom) flashed back to the G1 again, but the wifi error persists and so does the intermittent sd card issue.. I think the sd card problem may be hardware related..sometimes It'll work for a minute after I remove the card and re-insert it, then it'll stop working again..
*edit* Can someone or has someone already made a patch to disable the function of that little trigger inside the micro sd card reader on the g1?? That little switch that pushes in when u close the sd card cover.. Apparently, this might cause my sd card to not function, so I figured that somebody may have made a patch to disable this and make the sd card work outright without that little button inside needed..
First, try a SuperWipe. Sometimes junk gets left around even after a wipe through recovery that causes very weird problems.

I haven't heard of a patch to do that. It might not even be possible if it is implemented in hardware. You could try opening the phone and modify it to always keep that trigger closed, as a last resort.

ok i'm gonna try to flash superwipe2 but atm the sd card isn't readable even in recovery, so I'm gonna have to play around and hope I get lucky and the sd mounts in order for me to flash superwipe... if/when it happens, i'll post an update..
finally managed to superwipe AND re-flash laslo 5.1..
the g1 still has the wi-fi 'error' and of course the sd only works intermittently.. I lost count how many re-boots and how many times i re-inserted the microSD card until i finally got it to work long enough to flash it this time
so what files are involved in the wifi anyway?? Can I manually replace a driver perhaps?... or something?!?
The wifi kernel module is located at "/system/lib/modules/wlan.ko". This really sounds like a hardware problem if it is occurring in recovery too. Have you tried ROMs other than laslo? Try a stable CyanogenMod or BiffMod ROM.

thnx , I'll read up on this..
and also, I've used cm6.1, 2708port cm 6.1, and sparksmod rom 2.. i had biffmod installed for like a minute or so before i switched to something else due to the wfi error.. maybe i could try it again, I can't remember if there was something else wrong with biffmod or not, but I do know the wifi issue carries over thru different roms.. pretty much on all these roms I've experienced lag, fc's, broken apps, battery drain, and now the wifi problem and sdcard problem..

No, the wifi kernel module has to be built specifically for kernel. You can try flashing a different kernel (with a wifi module) though. Here are some to try:

for 2.6.35.11 pershoot, I get the 'failed' error when flashing thru recovery.. i used the nfs_32b_radio2708.zip
for 2.6.34.8, I've flashed and rebooted and still the same wifi error =(
Is the "wifi module" already included in each kernel zip?? Or do I need that too??

It is included with the kernel.
a user on another forum posted "Could you guys check if your wlan kernel module is loaded? Open up the terminal emulator, then su to root and run 'lsmod'?
For me, I get 3 modules now: wlan, ramzswap and ipv6.
When it was broken for me, I didn't have wlan."
well I don't have wlan listed either, even though i have the wlan.ko file in /system/lib/modules...
EDIT: finally got 2.6.35.11 flashed and installed, but still same wifi error =(
I have just developed this problem as well...on one of 7 phones. I have taken it back to 29 on 2 ocassions, bringing it back to ezterrys gingerbread. at 29 I get wifi error.... at cm6.1 I get wifi error....and at GB also get wifi error. Looking in logs, I see (in RED) 00:00 00:00:00.000 E/WiFi Service (132) on next line (also in RED) Failed to Load Wi-Fi driver.
Reading thru these forums..I see a few folks having this same error....but no one seems to have a fix.
Can anyone shed some light on this topic...

After a few days running Dlev's 4.2 ROM, my wifi stopped working suddenly. When I try to turn it on it says error or unable to start wifi. I've exhausted several initial options I began walking myself back through various ROM's back to the original 2.1 stock ROM. Without success I even performed a master clear and several reflashes of the orininal stock ROM, nothing is working. I tried FXR Wifi fix and rescue. Does anybody have any ideas on what I should do?

What kernel were you running with the custom ROM? Talon's being updated really frequently, so if it's Talon, you might try the latest version of that (0.4.4.22, as of this writing)

Did you try rebooting your router or device that gives you wireless signal? also see if other devices can connect.
It was Talon 0.4.4, but I've gone all the way back to stock ROM/kernel etc and that makes me think that this is a HW malfunction.
AT&T had me reboot the router too, my laptops are able to connect just fine. It's not really a connection problem either, Wifi will not turn on at all.
I called Samsung and they want me to ship them the phone, still debating that one since I will have to go without a phone.

It's a problem with the WiFi drivers....try taking the stock WiFi drivers....either that or you spoiled your WiFi hardware

yeps its a problem with ur wifi driver... dont panick ....
just do a wipe data factory reset (better by clockwork mod recovery ,if u have installed it and is rooted)or if it still exists JUST FLASH the stock rom via ODIN...here is a thread if u dont know flashing

Wifi wouldn't switch on when I was on stock it would give error like you said sometimes even after entering the code to load the drivers I had to restart my phone
Then I flashed cm7 and the problem vanished. Although when I reverted to stock the error was back

welll for that had u used a nandroid backup to revert??
Maybe the baseband is a problem. Try a different baseband and see. Since you are telling that wifi works in cm7, maybe there is a problem with your stock rom.

Nop!! You can't revert from a cm rom to a stock rom by a nandroid backup you have to use odin

i am having problems with wifi, too. Yesterday I installed Miracle v.4 and during 2 hours everything was fine. But then, it disconnected from my home wifi and it wouldnt connect again. always stuck at "obtaining ip address".
today i tried at the office, and the problem is the same. I tried rebooting the phone and the router several times. also tried with static ip, and then it connected, but i had no internet.

Hi, I just purchased a samsung galaxy ace gt s5830 that came from korea. The phone was initially working fine and had 2.2.1 froyo running on it. But this set did't allow more than 80 characters in text message and converted into an mms. I thought I should updgrade it to gingerbread so I downloaded gingerbread 2.3.6 and upgraded the phone via Odin. Since then, my wifi and bluetooth don't work. when i try to turn on the wifi, it says "Error". I have tried all possible solutions but was never successful. tried those codes like *#526*, *$528* and many other codes but no use. I also thought of going back to froyo 2.2.1 and downloaded a stock rom and flashed it but still the same error.
Now can anyone suggest a solution here so that either I can revert to the korean firmware (since I can't find one for korean region) or I can fix the wifi and blutooth error.
Please Please help!!! I purchased it to present it to my wife on her birthday but now its all messy

So, i Figured somethings wrong with CM9.0 alpha7 for the i9001 and that's something i've searched loooooooooooong enough to understand actually NO ONE has had this problem.First i had alpha 4 and with some searching in these forums i figured alpha 4 had wifi problems entirely.Then i downloaded alpha7........ thought my problems would go away but............. when doa clean install without the SIM inside my wifi works pretty good,but the moment i turn my phone off,insert SIM,and enter the PIN, my wifi...like,disappears on it's own.NOTHING WORKS!!!! i'm desperate to keep CM9.i even tried to wipe cache and dalvik cache and fix the permissions inside ROM MANAGER and form CWMR........NOTHING!!!! even got that dhcpcd fix thing that someone had posted,didn't work. and it's not just my home's wifi,i can't connect anywhere!tried rewriting wpa_supplicant file and the other stuff related to wifi(can't remember)with that wifi fix .zip fil manually, by flashing, using the files on other ROMs,NOTHINGGGGGGGG! try cm9 by ivendor it is beta 5 and everything works,if u want best wifi signal instal blazr 7.1 ics themed gaming edition but it is gingerbread
WIFI dose not work

Also It is not possible to downgrade firmware to stock ones, any solutions U got? Thaks in advance.
