[Q] : Does Google keep track of my purchases? - Nook Color General

I am wanting to know whether Google keeps track of my purchases, and allows me to download them again in the future, if I need to. Like the App Store for example.
I want to know this because I would like clean the "slate" of my NC, in preparation for the 1.1 update. And then wait for a nooter to come out.

hah sorry mate, misread your post...
*foot in mouth*
i believe purchases are tracked by id... what's the point someone already answerd below

Google stores your purchase history with your GMail account, so you will not have to pay again.
Just make sure you use the same GMail account when you set things up again.

And Barnes & Noble stores your book purchase records to your account.

Just a question

Today, I logged into my gmail account to find a suspicious note by Google saying that I've been logged in from somewhere else, other then Canada. Guess where, China. I'm just wondering if my account has been truly compromised, a quick google search showed that people were getting this also, in the timespan of May too.
Just wondering if any fellow G1 users have gotten this when they logged onto THEIR account and found this note. Should I be worried about credentials?
I haven't gotten any suspicious messages. Sorry.

[Q] Market won't let me purchase items

Hi All-
I've run into an issue with the Market that I haven't been able to find in the various market oriented threads here.
I rooted yesterday using auto-neuter 12.25 & everything worked great. I can youtube, I have my google apps email account syncing, I can download free apps from the market, etc. Angry birds is a real treat on the Nook color!
My problem is with trying to purchase paid apps from the market. Like many report successfully doing here, I want to get Titanium Backup pro & use it to backup the nook to a dropbox account. When I try to purchase from the android market, I am told to enter/create a gmail account vs using the existing gmail apps account. I have tried re-entering the google apps account data, but I seem to end up in and endless loop where it asked for the credentials, I supply them, it accepts them, and then brings me back to asking for credentials.
Does anyone have any insight into this problem??
It is my understanding you should use an actual gmail.com account for the primary account on android devices. This is probably the source of your issue.

multiple Nooks using one gmail account?

So I have one and I bought one for my brother and sister, and I've set them up with my gmail account. Everything works great, rooted it and all done.
So my question is, how can I prevent them from accessing my gmail account and prevent them from making purchases on the Market.
FYI, this gmail account is also synced to my phone which it automatically defaults to my Tmobile account for payment.
**UPDATE**
Figured out the market payment thing, just go to checkout.google.com and deleted my payment methods. Haven't figured the gmail thing out though yet.

Why don't you have them use their own gmail accounts now?
Aye, not sure why not just use their gmail accounts, if they don't have one, it's easy enough to create one surely?
they are actually under the age of 10, so my parents don't want them to have email access yet.
I found a way to do it by blocking Gmail completely using App Protector, which requires a password to access apps that you have blocked on your system.
This will work for now.
In the opposite direction, is it possible to have two separate gmail accounts on the same device?

Can you elaborate on how one might set that up?
Rodney
In the settings of the application you can put in multiple email accounts.
Poke around the options section, it should be readily apparent.
multiple accounts I believe was supported in 2.1+ but I may be wrong.
I have like 3-4 gmail accounts for my own on my phone.
Reason why my bro/sis are getting nooks is to encourage them in reading.
It's a really useful device for kids, reading, music, internet, games and etc.

Settings > Accounts & Sync > Add Account > Google
I would recommend that you set up email accounts for each of them, but don't set up the email on their nooks, just on yours. That way, you can purchase age appropriate books for each, but only you are on the email.

[Q] My Search History Syncing To Someone Else's Phone!

I used Google Now to search for a online ska/punk radio station on my way home on my HTC One. I get home to help my Dad learn how to use his One and MY search for the radio station is showing on HIS Google Now app!
I checked his and My Accounts and Sync list under settings and neither phone has the other person's accounts.
I did sign into Gmail last night on his phone through the browser, not the app, but I signed out before I performed the search in question.
Before you ask, no, he's not spying on me, he doesn't know how to use a smartphone, and I'm the primary account holder for the phone service.
Please help!
If you sign into a Google account on Chrome EVERYTHING gets synced. Bookmarks, history and w/e else. At least, that's what I think.
Google can tell when a search is coming from the same house and sometimes you search history is filed in due to your geographical proximity.
but it's ok to eat fish cause they don't have feelings.....
Sorry to waste everyone's time, it was a simple mistake on my part. I had forgotten that two days prior I had signed into HIS email via gmail.com on MY phone (to track his phone shipment ironically) and never signed out.

It happens. Would make a great practical joke though.

Can you set up the new Chromecast without a Google account?

I'd love to get a good Android set top box, and one that's coming directly from Google sounds like a great thing. Can you bypass the Google account login on this new one, and just rely on sideloading apps that you want to use?
Doesn't seem like there's any way to bypass the Google account set up step on this one. If someone finds a way to get it into a "generic" state without tying to a Google account, I'd love to hear about it.
