here is the steps i did:
1. installed a fresh copy of phoenix 3.5;
2. installed Cezar's theme from phoenix website; everything works fine;
3. backup the rom using CWM
4. restore the rom using CWM
I got a lot of fc after step 4 while booting ... what is wrong here? Thank you ...

Hi all
I am using a Galaxy S I9000 International running stock 2.1.1.
I have rooted my device using super one click (psneuter exploit).
As far as i understand it, this is the process i now need to complete:
1) Install ROM Manager
2) Using RM, flash CWM Recovery ROM.
3) Boot into recovery, and create a Nandroid backup
4) Flash Darky's / CWM / Cyanogen ROM for everlasting happiness.
I am having endless trouble with step 2 and 3.
In RM, i flash CWM Recovery ROM. But then when i boot into recovery, it still runs the old stock android recovery <2e>. I've repeated this flashing & reboot process 5 times with no luck.
Please will someone provide me with an easy noob approach, and please try to explain tech jargon if you use it.
MANY thanks!
FORGET that i read your post wrong

personally I have never used rom manager to flash CWM I always use odin and do a kernel flash you should find kernel files (.tar's) at around 6-7MB which included the CWM mod) all you need is the pit and the kernel all done in a few seconds simply reboot to download mode and use odin to falsh the new kernel.
the file I regularly use is called CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1.tar flashed it dozens of times it's never let me down I found it on this forum somewhere.
once you have that on you can install pretty much anything from recovery mode in CWM.
Hello, I have been using darky 9.5 rom for a while without problems but today CM7 launched the long waited nightly and I decided to try it. I made a backup from the dark core recovery and then flashed the CM7 rom perfectly. I didnt like it at all so I wiped everything in order to restore the darky backup...
And then the problems came up. The restore said successful but the phone stuck at first GT-I9000 logo. I reverted the phone to stock and installed clockworkmod but still cant boot into the rom. However, I can restore my first stock backup so I think its a boot.img problem or something like that.
Can I delete boot.img from the folder and try to restore with a darky rom installed? It should be the same boot.img
Its not a big deal but I hate to reinstall all my apps from the market and configure them!
Thanks!
Install the "stock rom" with kernel speedmod and bootloader that are in Sourceforge in CM7 (GT-I9000 FROYO full PDA) , after wipe all .
OK, restore your backup

So the order is:
1. Back to stock rom
2. Root the rom
3. Install speedmod
4. Install bootloader
5. Wipe
6. Restore
Am I right? Thanks!
The speedmod is including in the rom (is full rom stock with mod kernel)

Yes I did. Probably the backup is corrupted. I spent all this morning installing again the darky rom and configuring all my apps. Thank you anyway
I had the same problem, im not professional but I think its becouse Cm7 is 2.3.4 and Darky is 2.3.3...
I firstly flashed Froyo w/ bootloaders and then I installed Darky v10.
After that I want to CMW >advanced restore and restored my /data so I got all my programs back
I have seen the same issue on other models forum but could not answer my problem.
Whenever I restore a Nandroid backup using either ROM manager or CWM recovery, all goes fine but on reboot I am stuck on the 2nd LG logo.
The only fix I found is to restore the ROM, pull the battery, boot into recovery, re-install CM7 from the SD card.
This happens will ALL the backups I made while on CM7.
I can however restore and boot the original LG ROM I backed-up after rooting my phone.
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks.
LG Optimus 2x
CM7 nightly 39 (but had the same with previous versions)
ROM manager premium 4.3.1.3
CWM recovery 3.0.2.8
Try wiping all caches (including dalvik in advanced) and fix permissions. Also you can try CWM 3.2.0.x (you have to install it manually, Rom Manager does not let me download it)
If u restoring nandroid backup of cm7, flash cm7 rom after u completed restoring backup then u reboot.
1. Restore nandroid backup
2. Flash cm7 rom
3. Reboot
I did wipe all, but it did not help.
I am not sure about CWM 3.2.0.1. I will give it a try.

This is what I am doing, but why do I need to reflash CM7 after a nandroid restore?

It was a problem with the boot image not restoring properly (or at all perhaps), this should be fixed on CWM 3.2.0.1 (and possibly 3.2.0.0)
Thank you Rusty (and mikee2185).
Installed your 3.2.0.1 and it worked fine!
Cheers.

Great both of you rusty & pa64. I was facing the same problem with stock ROM restore with a certain version of CWM recovery. Rusty's 3.2.0.1 saved the day for me and restored successfully from the same backup which the other CWM version failed. Thanked both of you.
thanks temasek
it worked.
I want to install Acudroid v3.1.1 on my P1000, but have some questions.
1. I have already installed Overcome 4.1.0. What steps do i have to do to install Acudroid?
2. What is the probability in percent that the device bricks?

Hi,
If you are new to flashing or you are still not sure how to flash, go to this url
http://www.teamovercome.net/p1000/?page_id=17 it's the home of overcome rom and this guide helps you to flash the stock rom, after you have flashed the stock rom you can flash acudroid.
Cheers
Restock will be safest,
But I just did the same change last night.
I use Titanium Backup to backup my system and data.
Then I boot to recovery and wipe everything.
I flashed Acudroid 3.1.1 on it and the removed apps zip.
Then reboot.
Curious thing is the boot goes to overcome 4.1 again.
I had to wipe again and reflash acudroid again.
This time without the missing apps.
I booted up fine.
Then I rebooted to recovery and flash the apps, then boot the rom and restore from TB.
All good.
Zero chance of brick, in my opinion, when flashing from CWM recovery.

Installed Dark Knight v3, it is very smooth except the battery.
I performed a cwm backup to try a different rom. However,
when I tried to perform a restore, it never got pass the animation screen.
Anyone has this problem?
Does not feel comfortable with Flash if CWM Backup/Restore is not working

Just to be clear, you are in bootloop and you cant access cwm? If you cant enter cwm recovery, you can get to download mode? If so, flash stock JVU for example using odin and after that flash desired rom again.

I have performed a backup with cwm backup earlier.
After testing with Galnet MIUI rom, I want to switch back to Dark Knight v3.
I perform a cwm restore.
The system restarted but stay at the animation screen (bootloop?).
I was not able to recover my data from the backup.
Not sure if it is a problem with cwm or the rom.
I have to perform a wipe and reinstall from scratch.

Unfortunately yes. You can try saving files by mounting USB storage in cwm recovery when connected to PC and transfer the files there.

When you did your backup what's your kernel? Somewhere I read that Glitch has some issues with backups, maybe it's your problem.

reflash DK3 with a wipe and then restore from the back up you have made..
I have the same issue. I made a backup, and it gets stuck at animation. Even after wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik and DK3 reflash I still can't get it to work, even tried restoring data only.
I was using semaphore 0.9.1 when I have the looping problem.
Anyone who was able to restore, what kernel were you running?
