MIUI is the smallest of any ROM's I have used. It is also the best on battery! Not to mention it has so many great features! I realize it's not really stock, but it's worth a look.

Small or large - doesn't matter at all to the battery.
All ROMs provide more or less the same battery capabilities, it's up to the user to tweak them.
surprising that this guy rooted without running into issues..

I am about to flash my first ROM and looking for quick recommendations on a good ROM.
Speed is more important than battery life, and apart from that do have any other specific requirements
Mine.

No one can give you an objective answer. And this belongs in Q&A.
I don't need anything too specialized yet. Just something recent & popular & widely used. ie the top favourites around here.
Thanks. Will take a look at yours. Are they some of the most popular around here?

Take a look at Doc's. Fastest interface and best GPS I've ever had. Plus you can easily customize your own rom using the online kitchen

Serendipity 2.0 is THE best ROM out there as far as speed goes imo.
It will EAT your battery up though since it's oc'ed. I haven't experienced to bad but I can tell with just a lil bit more usage it would drain quick.
I would wait for Firefly (few hours till released) and try that. It's going to be fast, smooth, and perfect without being oc'ed. Will also have great battery life and GPS will work for sure. My friend told me this; he has the beta. Lol
Assonance.

I'll eat my USB cable the day we get a ROM like that.
Thanks guys. That has given me feel for what is popular at the moment.
Now I just need to work out if I can flash a ROM without access to Winblows.

lmao! Thats something I'd almost be willing to pay to see!
Darkys v8!
Extremely stable, very fast, GPS is decent, battery life is *meh* i get about 12-13 hours on heavy to moderate usage but I charge it on my way home from work in the car.
Gingerbread themed, a lot of customation, very active developer, updates come out very easy to install ect.
Just my 2 cents
My recommendation is to become an addict and try them all.

LOL. That's the fun part. What's the fun in plating it safe and not trying new thing. If you're gonna do that you might as well get an iPhone

hey guys I hear that miui is great on battery life just wondering if anyone can confirm this. Also I heard that there was a problem with swype on miui. Is that problem still there. Thanks for help on these two issues.

MIUI battery life is excellent, although I may not be the best source because I take obsessively good care of my batteries. Swype works great, you just need to search around on the net to find installation instructions because MIUI's way of handling keyboards is a little different. Overall though, I highly recommend you try it out, so far it is my favorite ROM, and I keep coming back to it!
i take real good care of battery too. it rarely leaves my phone.
Lol I only take out my battery when my phone requires me to. I think I might just buy a bigger battery or phone.

mugen makes good batteries. i got mine on a black friday sale. i've hardly used though it will get some use on my upcoming vacation.

it might be best if u actually try it yourself
it would actually make a difference depending on yr setup and how u want it to function
but there were reports of the rom reaching 48 hours...
but nevertheless i have also seen cm7 reaching nearly 3 days..
conclusion-try and u will find out
Hi guys
Basically I've been a windows mobile user for ages now, had the omnia i900 for quite some time now, and i think its time to move on.
I've been thinking allot of buying this phone because it has an excellent value for money. Simplyelectronics.com has it listed for like 300 euros and here in my country(Cyprus) its 550 or something, which is ALLOT. So I've read allot of reviews and everything, but I would like to know what YOU guys think, how it is for everyday use.
Any problems or annoying stuff about it, and also if it's easy to use and easy to carry around, although is that big.
I really appreciate it.
Cheers
I changed to a custom rom almost immediately after I got my phone, so not sure about the stock software. I am using DJDroid rom atm, and I like the battery life and have no problem with everyday use.
It should be the best value for money phone until xiaomi phone arrives.
Hardware good, software bad, customize it and it's a goodun.
I'm also very interested in this phone. This is mainly because of it's killer hardware as well as the poor software as this has caused the price to fall to a reasonable level. Poor software can easily be fixed by flashing a custom Rom/kernel.
I also think it looks very nice
Thanks guys.
You're great.
How bout the feel of the thing. Does it feel bulky, or thick?
What do u think
It is 10.9mm which is slim, even to todays standards.
Just placed my order.
Really great value for money.
You guys have been really helpful, cause i read allot of threads about random reboots and stuff, and i thought they were hardware issues or smthn.
Anyway
Thanks a bunch
Cheers
I would buy the 2x. With the latest stock rom, it's smooth and stable.
I love it!
I dunno what anyone has agaisnt the stock rom with the exception of the bloatware crap that lg bundle in with it i havnt had any issues, no overheating, no random shutdowns or restarts, its been fast and responsive.
Maybe some people just dont know how to use their phone and have to get cyanogen to handle it for them.
Its a good Handy.
You can buy it.
I also think it's a great phone when you look at its price. I am really happy with it
its great if you dont use bluetooth audio and radio. otherwise dont buy it!

BT Audio? Really? Just A2DP or other audio-related profiles?
I was aware of A2DP issues with certain ROMs, but are you aware of any issues with the HSP (headset profile)?
good
im satisfied with my O2X and many developers are supporting this device now including extending battery life and camera quality. I'll say you should go and place the order

Feels good actually, not sure what others are about, been using mine with the rom it came with, has 2.2.2 on it and gets 3 days per charge easy (still over 50% battery at end of 3rd day), and have not had any issues with it.

Do you turn off your phone when you don't use it?
I have no idea you get 3 days out of it. I play 3 hours on mine, and battery is gone. What ril, baseband, rom, settings you use?
it's one of the best phone out there.. those said this phone s*cks must never tried to fix, so they given up this phone.. all you need is root, custom ROMs, and there you go.

Hi guys, I got this phone for free with bell mobility as my 2nd phone for my business line. I'm going to be using this phone only to make phone calls. No internet, ever. No wifi, maybe some bluetooth once in a while. No games, no apps. I have a Galaxy nexus for that.
Which rom would be the best for good battery life?
Thanks guys
Talking about the battery life and from personal experience,I would suggest using MIUI rom. The battery lasts for at least 2-3 days(for me) with normal use(wifi, music etc),so should go a far way if only used for calls.
Alternatively, if you prefer Sense UI,I've heard good things about the battery life of Android Revolution HD.
Finally,it's always best to just test several roms yourself in real life situations for several days, and then picking the rom which suits you best.
after playing with it a bit I'm not a big fan of sense...
I'll give miui a try, thanks

+ 1 use tiamat uv to - 50 all values
+1 for miui. might just be in my head, but seems to be even more battery efficient than cm7.

What version of MIUI do you use? There are so many I was going to wait for the updated galnetmiui ics one.
I would take the CM7 Nightly#146 and edit the .zip file and remove all the .apk files from system/app that you don't need.
That will give you a very light ROM.
Hi guys
I wanted to flash one of these two cfw on my girlfriends phone.
The thing is that I have limited time to try out both firmwares and I want to know which one you guys prefer.
Tried out both, but honestly I dont know which one to take
Both run pretty smooth in my opinion, but the rom wont be updated on her phone anymore.
Another side question if you dont mind: Is there a good way to have a better network connection for interneting or even improved battery usage??
Dont know if I should flash the Goldenkernel, since im afraid that its unstable or even unefficient.
Let me know about your experience!
Thanks in advice
Dmod V5
dmod v5 is definetly better than benz. and i tried both of them. benz is laggy.
dmod has cool features from s4. internet works great on it(if you have a good wireless router, or data plan).
battery life is very good. i got 4 days and 12 hours on it and still got 24% battery left. and i didn't use power saving.
tryed all roms for s3 mini. even cyanogenmod 10 (which is beta).
this is the best custom rom for sure.

Theres no which is better or which is not, its based on personal preference, do you want the S4 feel or just stock samsung with Benz status bar which i dont like that much so i went back to enox instead
Dont flash the golden kernel, its kinda buggy and still in early development, i recommend flashing CrossBreeder which i dont really know if it helps with lags

Possible with only phone calls, messaging and low usage of wifi/3G
Thank you for your answers!
Flashing dmod5 then,
love you guys :victory:
These topics are pointless. Ask in the ROM thread, don't create a new one just to ask a question...
Just give them both a try :good:
