[Q] Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 or /sdcard, HELP!!! - Captivate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What the hell did I do now!? I tried installing a theme with CWM (oops) and somehow made the sdcard unwilling to mount. I can get into CWM still, but it wont let me install update.zip or any other file for that matter. It says "Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1" or "Can't mount /sdcard"... basically, it won't mount. Now I cant reflash... I'm downloading Odin but I'd rather not have to do that...
*resolved*
Odin.

Odin bailed me out...

Can you link me to what worked for ya?
Running into similar issues here.
EDIT: Oops, didn't notice this was from Jan 2011..

Any repartitioning odin should work.

USB Jig will get the phone into download mode
Does your phone turn on? If so you could try mobile odin from the play store. I've never used it but it might work for you.

Try a different stock ROM any will do maybe even Darky's 10.2 That helped me when i had a similar issue.
If that fails the internal memory could have failed....
Nice!!!
finally installed Extraordinary 9.1. very smuth. amazing !!!
thanks for the help.
P.S. when trying to use the jig on sg i9000 it should be exactly 301k!!!!!!!!!!!!
i bought resistors for 300k. one was 309.1k and another 303.5k. it didnt worked!!!
i used 6 resistors in parallel to get 301.1k only then i got into download mod.

[Q] Unable to mount /data or /emmc

My i9305 is routed, and has clockwork mod installed on it, still running the new EE 4.1.2 official rom thought.
Im unable to mount the data partition in clockwork mod which means i cant create any backups of my phone as it fails.
The internal sd card partition wont mount either when i try and intsall a zip from internal sdcard i get cannot mount /emmc.
I think my partitions are messed up and i probably need to reflash a PIT file to get them back in the right place.
Can anyone confirm that this is right?? And if http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950591 is the corrrect PIT file to use for me?
Thanks
Hey,
which version of cwm do you use?
I only know the emmc error from the 6.0.1.5 touch version in the dev thread.
Dont play with .pit files restore to stock factory reset then use cmw

Thanks for your suggestions; I’ve actually managed to fix it now.
I actually forgot to mention a fact which as it turns out was the reason for my problems.
The device was encrypted and CWM can’t deal with encryption or the encryption would be useless!!
I unencrypted the device and I’m now able to mount both partitions.
Can’t believe I didn’t think of this in the first place and nearly flashed a pit file!!!

Does anynoe know how to root the P7320 4.04

I use the 3.2 HC method to root my P7320 with ICS4.04 (Hong Kong version), after flash the CWM recovery into the tab I boot into the recovery mode and choose to install the zip file from SDcard, but it said( E: Can't mount /sdcard/ ). I have already copy the superuser.zip into the sdcard's root directory but cannot find it to install, any idea if I have done something wrong?
Many thanks!
Wrong section, anyways try reflashing the recovery, or remount sdcard.

Heeeellpppp
I have this Samsung Galaxy tab GT-p1000 whose applications are getting error message of "force close", I tried to delete all the installed applications, restored factory settings but It doesnt seem to uninstall all the applications, So I decided to
upgrade it from Gingerbread 2.3.6 to ICS after installing it I got an error message of "Encryption Unsuccessful", So tried resetting it, rebooting, wiping factory settings, wiping cache but nothing happened, I even removed the sdcard before rebooting it but still I got the same error message.
I got frustrated and made a stupid mistake, I formatted everything thru recovery mode, format /data, format /sdcard, format /system and all. Yes every possible format. Here comes the problem when I rebooted the system, I only got the "Galaxy Tab, Samsung" screen. I can't enter recovery mode anymore, I can still enter download mode but my pc won't recognize it, so Odin can't recognize it too. What should I do now? HEEEELPPPP pleassseeeee :crying:
If Odin can't recognise it, use a new PC.
Many have done so, even one last week.

Thanks for your Help.
same comment here as in there.
It is either the partition is screwed up or the NAND chip is bad.
If you did Odin with PIT file and repartition ticked, and didn't come back alive like the other forumer there, then your internal NAND chip is bad.
There are several threads dealing with how to use external SD only and on damaged internal SD.

[Q] [Q:] HELP ! E:Can't mount /sdcard.

Hey guys.
I'm new here so i'll try my best
My dad had an old galaxy s GT-I9000.
He had a cwm recovery v6.0.1.5.
I wanted to put C-ROM on his phone and after I did it it changed into mackay kernel.
I wanted to bring back the CWM so I used a guide I find on the web. (i cant link it here because im new.)
After I finished I opened the phone on recovery mode and I tried to "choose zip from sd card"
I got this message -> "E:unknown volume for path [/sdcard]
E:Can't mount /sdcard "
What can I do i'm stuck here !!
Thanx all .

I could be wrong, but This sounds like your SD card has been partitioned as a logical drive instead of primary.
Check it first then if nessesary,
Use a PC and partition mini tools, redo the SD card and make it primary drive instead of logical drive.

I found this post in the HTC Legend forum, but that should work on any phone.
Flash dbdata.rfs using Odin.
If it still doesn't work then flash JVU ROM with 512 pit.
Try flashing xxjvt rom. i had this problem once , flashed the rom twice thru odin and that fixed it. hope it helps
