What are some good games Aria ppl are trying? I know its small screen will deter some from playing games but it can handle alot.
I've been playing the Sims 3 for a while but I think there are some better graphic ones that it could do as well. The emulators are retro but has anyone tried psx4droid? Id like some feedback on that. MT3GS ppl say some psx games are laggy!

As far as games go, I haven't downloaded many. I like Traffic Jam tho. I probably won't install any emulators for a while. I'm having too much fun with customizations to have anytime for games haha.

Nah, I haven't tried it. I just thought it was pretty crazy and wanted to share the video.
yea, unfortunately... the bluetooth stack used in our phones are not compatible with the wiimote. So unless that changes, you're not going to have any luck using that particular remote.

Not true. I have hooked up my wiimote to play game boy advance games.
Things you will need:
1. Rooted phone.
2. CyanogenMod rom. Nothing with HTC Sense. Again if you are using Stock, Stock w/Root, or Liberated Stock it will not work.
3. Goto market, download "Wiimote Controller" by C.C.P. [email protected]
4. Follow Setup on the app. It will set up as another keyboard. Only useful for a handful of other apps, but like I said I use it for GBA
thanks for replying, i've been trying to find out if the cyanogen rom made changes to the bluetooth stack. Asked it twice and no resonce in that thread. Figures that I'd get an answer here lol.
This is good to know that it works when i make the switch from liberated to cyanogen

Thanks. It is awesome. I'm gonna try Gameboid later and see if I can get Advance Wars for it.
Guns 'n' Glory FREE is a great tower defense like game with a Western cowboys and indians twist. even the free version is hard enough to keep anyone entertained for a good while.
I like the games My Paper Plane 2, and Home run Battle 3D... The touch screen controls on the aria such too much for proper emulator gaming

Since not many people talked about the emulators, I guess I shall write a bit.
So I've been playing around with the emulators for the past week or so. I have the SNESoid, Gameboid, and PSX4droid emulators. Anyway first the SNES emulator. For the most part, games play pretty well. There is some occasional slowdown but not much. There is a bit lag though on games that use the SA-I processor (mario rpg and kirby super star). Sound on a few games are a little choppy but for the most part, it's decent. Just have to tinker with the settings. Games like super mario world (i have all stars) plays very well. Chrono trigger plays nicely too. I have close to 20 roms right now.
Next is the Gameboid emulator. I have a few roms for the gba emulator (FFI and FFII, and a gundam game, have tried a few others but decided to delete them lol..). I must say, the gba emulator runs the best. It's seems like the Aria hardware was made to play gba games lol. There's no lag whatsoever and the sound is great! I find it ironic because the gba had better hardware than the snes so you would think the snes roms would play better. I think later I'll try more roms like advanced wars or something.
Last is the PSX4droid emulator. Well let's just say it can play the games. First game I tried was chocobo racing. It was a little slow and the sound was bad. Then I tried digimon world 3. The game played well but a little slow and the sound was also bad lol. I'm going to try brave fencer musashi and warcraft II next. Both are currently being downloaded.
Oh btw...I suppose it would make a difference but during my gaming, I only had around 30-40mb of ram. Maybe I should've killed the other apps to gain more memory. I suppose it would run a bit better?
Angry birds beta is the funnest game i've played on the aria yet!

Good review, I've only tried snesoid thus far. Super mario rpg did see a bit of a speed up for me when I switched to cyanogen. I think I still had to set it to skip a 4 frame max though. The audio was fairly bearable then.

I am useing Snesoid with my wii motes and it works amazing. The trick is to find good rom files.
Going to bump this thread instead of starting a new one... I've just purchased a Xoom, and went to move over my emulators from my Evo. If I restore from Titanium Backup (backed up on my Evo) to my Xoom, I get FC's, however it seems that the Gensoid emulator and the Gearoid emulator both have been removed from the market (even after paying for the full version). I've been able to successfully restore the rest of them from the market, and they're working properly, though neither of the two above are working properly.
I restored the apps WITHOUT restoring the data for them.
Any ideas?
I am using FPse and psx4droid v2 for my PSX one. v3 of psx4droid does not work for me where v2 works great. Also using N64oid for my N64 roms, for SNES i am using SNesoid. All of which i am using a OTG cable for the 360 adapter so i can use my wireless 360 controller. I was using the Wiimote for awhile but just didn't like the button setup on it. the 360 controller works great. only buttons not working are the L and R tiggers and the bottom stick. all other buttons work no problems. Do a search for the apks for those programs on google and you should find the apks for them.
GBCoid, Gameboid, N64oid, and Fpse all seem to run pretty good, so any of those.
GBCoid and Gameboid both have a free light version
Fpse is about $6 or so, and its a psx emu incase u didnt know.
N64oid when you can find it in the market is about $6
Surprisingly they all work well. SNESoid, GBAoid, and N64oid. Just use Rom Fetcher (Classic) and you're good. However not alot of roms work well on N64oid but mario kart 64 and mario 64 work okay. On screen keyboard works well for most. Need to get an adapter for my 360 controller.
No one has said anything to help with my issue... I have the emulators, but the Gensoid and Gearoid are gone from the market... I restored them, but they FC every time. Help?

Really the only other option you have is to google around and find an apk that works. I got gensoid before it was out of the market, and it works on the xoom, so I know there is a version that works. The version I have is 2.4.3 and it never gives me problems.

Wait, what, why?
Oh sorry, here's the article:
http://www.engadget.com/2011/05/29/...appear-without-a-trac/?utm_source=Twitterfeed
I'm aware that the game compatibility thread covers emulation.
But I thought I'd make a thread to specifically discuss playstation emulation.
I downloaded psx4droid 3.0.0 from the dev site, but it doesn't work on my Xoom, just closes when I open an iso, and says running in the task bar. But doesn't do anything. If you click on it, it closes.
A google search says that 3.0.1 is available, but their site seems to be down at the moment.
I tried FPse, with changing the settings. It worked. But the set to small screen doesn't stick. Have to reset it each time.
And I can't get the wii controller to work with it.
Anyone have any luck?
Found a download for psx4droid 3.0.1 from an alternate source, because zodttd still seems to be down. And the problem is the same. Assign a bios file, have 2 different ones, and then launch an iso or bin file and the app closes and a message comes up in the task bar at the bottom, if you click on it, it brings you back to iso selection.
Well im glad I'm not the only one.. thought maybe it was a bad game file
Yea, this is going to be hard for zodttd because he even stated himself on his site that he doesn't have the new latest android devices so he is doing the best he can with what he has...which to be honest I am amazed he is even still working on it after it got taken off the market.
Oh, and p.s. his site seems to be back up for now: http://www.zodttd.com/wp/
I use FPSE. In landscape, full screen with screen filtering and the enhanced sound emulation at 0 frameskip I play Mortal kombat mythologies, trilogy, and castlevania symphony of the night at full speed no problem. overclocked 1.5 ghz.
I've also got the same problem with psx4droid. I'm gonna try fpse right now.

All you have to do with FPSE and the screen size issue is tab out and tab right back in. It is a minor bug that the developer will hopefully address soon.
You will only have to do this once when loading the emulator.
Also make sure you have HLE mode disabled if you are intending to use the emulator with a proper BIOS.
FPSE isn't as polished overall as psx4droid, but I have found it to handle games a little better. I couldn't get past the first Quistis cutscene of FF8 with psx4droid but maybe this has been corrected now.
I have both psx4droid(only rom tested was metal gear solid) and fpse working on my xoom. I disabled compatibility in spare parts if that may affect it.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA Premium App
FPse for Android is a really solid Playstation Emulator. Its a paint to get started since the Roms arn't 4MB like N64 and Snes . But once you get through that its very enjoyable.
I also use FPse with the wiimote controller.
Makesure you set the wiimote to the active input keyboard, or it wont work in fpse.
Just checked the site and they've released 3.0.5. It specifically states it's compatible with the Xoom. I installed it and i'm trying it out now.
Yeah...still doesn't work...
fpse doesn't work for me at all...any attempt to disable HLE mode just results in a force close for the next action I attempt, and games won't run with it on either, so I'm kinda stuck. Does this happen to anyone else? I'm running fpse v0.10.39.
Edit: Actually, nevermind. I updated to 10.41 and it's great now, but I can't get that custom overlay working. What am I doing wrong...
Looks like I'm grabbing a classic controller and loading up some metal gear solid for my lunch breaks ha

Streetfighter collection and wipeout running well. Just wish they'd boost the resolution a bit for the new tablets. Or correct me if I'm wrong but this is def lower res than a ps1, isn't it?
Sent from my MZ604 using Tapatalk
i'm not too sure about the resolution. You can turn on graphics filtering but tends to lag the crap out of some games. I think it mostly looks the way it should though. PS1 games were very jaggy, even the sprite based ones.
Maybe it's just a Rose tinted view of the past which is making me remember better graphics in wipeout? Man I must have spent a whole year of uni playing that damn game!!

Which are the most highly recommended? And anyone have a good resource for things to make the emulator work? Thanks

You can find emulators there. They have a market like app you can use. Many devs that got booted or left google's market went over there. IMO, emulators by yongzh are pretty damn good. You have to get the app for it, I forgot specifically which one (in regular market) worked with the nexus s and the wii controllers with yongzh's emus. Nothin like some super mario world or donkey kong with a wii controller and the classic controller tethered to it. I don't think yongzh's apps are free but they will work and are worth the money if you're into some old school gaming.

All the android emulators are pretty much straight up ports of pc emulators.
So whatever limitations those have, these have.
Is it a touchscreen issue? I've been wanting to get a bluetooth gamepad but haven't gotten around to it.
I noticed the only app of his he's charging for is n64oid. All the rest are free for now. I really don't like on-screen controls because they take away from the experience but what can you do? Either a Wii mote controller or a phone with a slide out keyboard are good to use with emulators.
Hard time running and jumping...any kind of button combo.
Someone wanna elaborate on this Wii mote thing or another control method? Thanks.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G via XDA Premium
I forget the name of the app. It's one of the free ones. Search the market for wii or wiimote or wii bluetooth. I think the one that works, you need to go to the dev's website to see how to set it up and get it running. He has the info to get it running with snesoid. It won't work with touchwiz but it works with the nexus s.
Long story short, get the app. Get a wii-mote and also getting the plug in classic controller extension makes things MUCH better if you're used to the old style controllers. Plug the classic into the wii-mote and turn it on into pairing mode and turn on bluetooth on the phone. Fire up the wii-mote app on the phone and connect to it as per the instructions on the developers website. After making sure it's paired and on, start up snesoid and go into controls and start mapping the buttons for what is available on the classic controller. I did the wii-mote controller at first but there just isn't the right amount of buttons in the right places to play any super mario worth a damn. After the buttons are mapped, start the game and you're good to go.
Too bad it won't work with touchwiz, maybe a different emulator might, because it would be better for me playing it on my galaxy tab versus the small screen on the phone.
Go read the instructions. It might be a little fussy at first to get everything set up but it's worth it after you get the hang of it.
I just looked up the app. It's called Wiimote Controller
I use GBC A.D. with NoRefresh which made it possible to play any game normally.
Playing Kirby is a bit difficult with things constantly attacking. Pokemon on the other hand is easy to navigate with some practice. I don't need the sound, I'd rather hear real music anyway
I want to try Beavis and Butthead for Sega Genesis on it next. Sadly, the sounds are half the fun in that game and they will be missed while playing.

It's at around 2:00 minutes for the first game. The ghosting is part of the experience playing it on an ereader. It doesn't seem to bother me :good:

It's not running X11, it's Mini vMac, emulating old Macintosh software. I'm getting pretty far in Pokemon (when I have spare time) I chose the yellow version because I won't be allowed to dupe items. I always cheat in red or blue, ruining the fun!
