I use GBC A.D. with NoRefresh which made it possible to play any game normally.
Playing Kirby is a bit difficult with things constantly attacking. Pokemon on the other hand is easy to navigate with some practice. I don't need the sound, I'd rather hear real music anyway
I want to try Beavis and Butthead for Sega Genesis on it next. Sadly, the sounds are half the fun in that game and they will be missed while playing.

i love it

Hey sswooz, any videos of this in action? I'm curious to see it. Sadly, I fear even the slightest gb platformer would be difficult to play.

I used to have Gargoyle's Quest cartridge, so I downloaded the rom. Ghosting interfere a lot, and virtual buttons really make it lame. Maybe RPG game would fare better, or maybe a slower puzzle.
Yeah.... definitely like the whole notion of running it...but the ghosting would eventually wear me down.
Not running any games on it currently.

Here's a video of it with the NoRefresh turned on. I played 2 games, Pokemon and Kirby. I played up until that point only using the nook. When I'm not too lazy, I'll beat the game on it! It's at around 2:00 minutes for the first game. The ghosting is part of the experience playing it on an ereader. It doesn't seem to bother me :good:
x11?
what is that X11 thing you run in the video?
Wow great video! Pokemon ran great with norefresh hack. Thanks for the awesome video.
Sent from my NookColor using xda app-developers app
It's not running X11, it's Mini vMac, emulating old Macintosh software. I'm getting pretty far in Pokemon (when I have spare time) I chose the yellow version because I won't be allowed to dupe items. I always cheat in red or blue, ruining the fun!
Hehe I saw your video with the mini vmac. I was surprised it works quite well on ereaders. I'm running it on my Sony Reader xD thanks for posting the vid. Brings back memories.

What are some good games Aria ppl are trying? I know its small screen will deter some from playing games but it can handle alot.
I've been playing the Sims 3 for a while but I think there are some better graphic ones that it could do as well. The emulators are retro but has anyone tried psx4droid? Id like some feedback on that. MT3GS ppl say some psx games are laggy!

yea, unfortunately... the bluetooth stack used in our phones are not compatible with the wiimote. So unless that changes, you're not going to have any luck using that particular remote.

Not true. I have hooked up my wiimote to play game boy advance games.
Things you will need:
1. Rooted phone.
2. CyanogenMod rom. Nothing with HTC Sense. Again if you are using Stock, Stock w/Root, or Liberated Stock it will not work.
3. Goto market, download "Wiimote Controller" by C.C.P. [email protected]
4. Follow Setup on the app. It will set up as another keyboard. Only useful for a handful of other apps, but like I said I use it for GBA
thanks for replying, i've been trying to find out if the cyanogen rom made changes to the bluetooth stack. Asked it twice and no resonce in that thread. Figures that I'd get an answer here lol.
This is good to know that it works when i make the switch from liberated to cyanogen

Thanks. It is awesome. I'm gonna try Gameboid later and see if I can get Advance Wars for it.
Guns 'n' Glory FREE is a great tower defense like game with a Western cowboys and indians twist. even the free version is hard enough to keep anyone entertained for a good while.
I like the games My Paper Plane 2, and Home run Battle 3D... The touch screen controls on the aria such too much for proper emulator gaming

Since not many people talked about the emulators, I guess I shall write a bit.
So I've been playing around with the emulators for the past week or so. I have the SNESoid, Gameboid, and PSX4droid emulators. Anyway first the SNES emulator. For the most part, games play pretty well. There is some occasional slowdown but not much. There is a bit lag though on games that use the SA-I processor (mario rpg and kirby super star). Sound on a few games are a little choppy but for the most part, it's decent. Just have to tinker with the settings. Games like super mario world (i have all stars) plays very well. Chrono trigger plays nicely too. I have close to 20 roms right now.
Next is the Gameboid emulator. I have a few roms for the gba emulator (FFI and FFII, and a gundam game, have tried a few others but decided to delete them lol..). I must say, the gba emulator runs the best. It's seems like the Aria hardware was made to play gba games lol. There's no lag whatsoever and the sound is great! I find it ironic because the gba had better hardware than the snes so you would think the snes roms would play better. I think later I'll try more roms like advanced wars or something.
Last is the PSX4droid emulator. Well let's just say it can play the games. First game I tried was chocobo racing. It was a little slow and the sound was bad. Then I tried digimon world 3. The game played well but a little slow and the sound was also bad lol. I'm going to try brave fencer musashi and warcraft II next. Both are currently being downloaded.
Oh btw...I suppose it would make a difference but during my gaming, I only had around 30-40mb of ram. Maybe I should've killed the other apps to gain more memory. I suppose it would run a bit better?
Angry birds beta is the funnest game i've played on the aria yet!

Good review, I've only tried snesoid thus far. Super mario rpg did see a bit of a speed up for me when I switched to cyanogen. I think I still had to set it to skip a 4 frame max though. The audio was fairly bearable then.

so this game was supposed to be released today. has not hit tegrazone or market yet...also androidpolice had two posts up related to shadowgun in the past 20 minutes, including one saying that it was released but they pulled them down right after they were posted.
anyone know whats going on with this highly anticipated release?
Check the android market right now. I just checked and it is up in there. I don't know if it is on the tablet market, because I'm at work right now, but it is on the web market. Can't wait to go home and play it!
yup you are correct! they just put it up. downloading it now

Good for certain things, like the Driller boss.
This game is ridiculous. I love it. How are you getting video game system controllers working with it? I have been unable...
I keep getting failures on downloads, so I found a place to download the SD Card content in .zip format, yeah, I know, but I bought it and want to play it.
Anyway, where on the "SD Card" are they supposed to go?
Thanks,
Gameloft should learn from Madfinger or EA to make their game, high graphic quality but less data capacity. (1.7 Gb for Tintin vs ~400 mb for shadowgun).
@Timbledore

@keu nhu vac
Gameloft has been using its own game engine. It was supposed to switch to Unreal 3 starting with March of Heroes, but MoH was canceled. But look for future GL games to be using the new game engine.
BTW, Shadowgun uses the Unity engine, which has a free Windows version for would-be game devs. The non-pro Android add-in costs $400, which is still peanuts relatively speaking.

I've seen footage of it on youtube, but because it's paired via bluetooth it's slow, like if you are moving forward and let go of the analog, you proceed to move forward for a short period because of the lag between controller and tablet.

It's super addictive.
It's just basically making stuff and downloading other peoples levels they made that you have to do and like the other answer you got it is rather addictive!
Well, you're also missing stuff like crafting and survival. Depends on what difficulty you choose. Try for yourself.
I was wondering the same thing, because a bunch of guys I know love it. I tried it myself and I was bored within about 10 minutes. It's either you build something which isn't very impressive, or you sacrifice endless hours to make something awesome. But at the end of the day you don't really get anything for doing it... So I see no point either

Right now it's the pseudo equivalent of creative mode only. In creative mode, there are no monsters, infinite resources, and your character can't die.
Survival mode is really what brings out the flavor in minecraft, if for no better reason than you have to "earn" what you build by harvesting everything and *not* dying.
Initially the dev team (Mojang) wanted the pocket edition to be like creative mode only. Now apparantly they're giving it some survival mode teeth, as that's what the community has been clamoring for.
Here's to hoping there wont be too many corners cut. If so, I may have to hunker down and actually buy this one.
There is a free demo version for anyone who's curious. The demo version doesn't let you save your worlds, so whatever you build is gone when you close thr game.

i simply find it grotesque, i can't fathom the ugliness of such game
it's like worse than going back to the computers from the 70s, just with color instead of monochrome
i still remember Atari games that looked exactly just like that
I'm hoping I don't get **** for this, but since it's about an app it should be fine.
Anyways, I tried out Blood and Glory today and it's pretty damn awesome. For those who haven't heard of it, it's pretty much like Infinity Blade on iOS. Graphics aren't as good, but they're still pretty impressive.
For those who HAVE heard of it, what are your thoughts on it?

Yeah. I wish they had more racing games, Hot Pursuit is the only decent one aside from the messed up car sounds.
Real Racing 2 was good but buggy compared to the iOS version. I had my hopes up for it but oh well.

So I was thinking it would be really cool if someone would make a game for iOS and android that would do this.
Have a main tablet and x number other devices. The main tablet would be the board. For example sake settlers of catan (I know there is a hot seat version of this game) . And it would display general information. Such as the board, turn and roads, ect. Then in a companion app it communicates over WiFi to the phones and tells them the private player information. Such as cards in hand and points.
I think that this would be a super cool idea for games (I guess you could nix the main tablet) but it would be really cool to be able to play even a simple game with people in the same room on different devices.
Yes I know I am a n00b but I thought I would put this out there. And idk if it is even possible. But it would be an awesome game.
