I don't know if anybody posted this before, but has anyone ever though about getting apps and games from the Apple store on to your Android phone? Just a thought, but if anybody can do that, you would be my hero!
Thanks in advance

excellent question! I wanna know cuz I want Sonic 4 for Android, and given how open source it, it wouldn't suprise me if someone knows how to port Apple Apps
Different operating systems. Apps and games need to be PORTED to android... You can't just install them.
It's difficult to explain without some computer/coding knowledge......
Think of it in terms of a game that comes out on PC, Xbox and PS3. The game is developed with console in mind and then ported to the other systems. Naturally the original is far better, it's what it was coded for and optimized for. The ports, unless rebuilt from the ground up, are never as good.
Just like you can't stick an Xbox360 disk in your computer and start playing, you can't install an apple application on Android. Porting is a pain-staking process, eventually a majority of apps on the Apple store will make it to Android, but don't hold your breathe.
It can be as open source as it wants, it's still a difficult and painful process to port it to another operating system. If it was easy every PC app and title would be Mac friendly and Apple/Linux users would have more than the small handful of games to play that they unfortunately have.
If you want sonic download a Genesis emulator and play one of the originals. Touch screen controller emulated controls suck though . Wish their was a better alternative.

If an app has been ported (think angry birds) it would be in the android market, amazon appstore or getjar.com (in the case of the newly released cut the rope.)
As for porting apps like the poster above said IT'S NOT AN EASY THING...
Oh. Ok. Do u think a lot of new apps from Apple will come to the android market?

That has never been posted on xda before. This site has over 20 billion users and 15 million posts per hour, and not one person has ever had that amazing thought.
I wish I'd thought of it first. I'd love an iPhone.
so this game was supposed to be released today. has not hit tegrazone or market yet...also androidpolice had two posts up related to shadowgun in the past 20 minutes, including one saying that it was released but they pulled them down right after they were posted.
anyone know whats going on with this highly anticipated release?
Check the android market right now. I just checked and it is up in there. I don't know if it is on the tablet market, because I'm at work right now, but it is on the web market. Can't wait to go home and play it!
yup you are correct! they just put it up. downloading it now
Wtf Is it just for me or does the game not work properly?
when I am about to start a new game and after I have chosen the difficulty i just get a black screen and nothing happens.
edit: A good old reboot solved the problem.. the graphics looks amazing

Good for certain things, like the Driller boss.
This game is ridiculous. I love it. How are you getting video game system controllers working with it? I have been unable...
I keep getting failures on downloads, so I found a place to download the SD Card content in .zip format, yeah, I know, but I bought it and want to play it.
Anyway, where on the "SD Card" are they supposed to go?
Thanks,
Gameloft should learn from Madfinger or EA to make their game, high graphic quality but less data capacity. (1.7 Gb for Tintin vs ~400 mb for shadowgun).
@Timbledore

@keu nhu vac
Gameloft has been using its own game engine. It was supposed to switch to Unreal 3 starting with March of Heroes, but MoH was canceled. But look for future GL games to be using the new game engine.
BTW, Shadowgun uses the Unity engine, which has a free Windows version for would-be game devs. The non-pro Android add-in costs $400, which is still peanuts relatively speaking.

I've seen footage of it on youtube, but because it's paired via bluetooth it's slow, like if you are moving forward and let go of the analog, you proceed to move forward for a short period because of the lag between controller and tablet.

Hmm...things an iPad can't do...
Well, you could show them how you attach a file to an e-mail message.
Install ES File Explorer and attach to your Windows servers/shares or your Samba shares.
I load up Horn to show game play, but iOS has Horn as well I guess.
I have to admit, this thread is making me wonder what wifikill is? Couldn't find it in the Play store.
Any number of things the Nexus can do the Ipad can't.
Start with Tasker, and produce various funny messages based on Nexus orientation.
Ask Google "Who is Barack Obama". Then ask "Who is his wife". Google handles context - Siri does not.
Program a couple of NFC tags to do useful things, like turn on airplane mode when you lay the tablet down (Tasker).
Open a terminal window and show how close to a Linux system this really is.
Show how you can retire in 30 years by investing the money you saved by buying a Nexus instead of an IPad.
There are couple of apps in my sig that exist only on Android

then you can block/re-direct all devices at one or one by one.

WOW no kidding? I gotta download diceplayer when I get home!! I hope it works on 4.2. Ipad already has google earth so that one's a no go. I'm curious about this wifikill too -- do you need admin access to the wireless access point? Where do you get it the apk? I'm thinking more of apps on the go, in regards to connecting to my ES File Explorer to a Windows system. But if I'm at someone's house I'll show them that.
Show them the NFC tectiles. They are fun to play with and almost as versatile as Tasker.

Change your wallpaper, that will blow their minds. Especially if it's a LIVE wallpaper - whoa!

P.S.: The "Library" of it appears to not work - but adding "New Image" will.
Actually...
Google Goggles is pretty cool in the right context. I've had a few people I've shown it to be blown away.
I will +1 on NFC and Tasker. A friend of mine has his N7 set to automatically tether to his phone for internet connection when he taps them together. That's impressed a few people - including me.
Best app to show off with is TSF Shell... just amazing, they will NEVER have that on iPads... Unfortunately stopped working on Android 4.2 but worked on 4.1.2

what other fun things can I do other than NES/SNES/PSX emulation?
what can this thing really do that an iPad can't at this point?
Thanks guys! Digging my first android Tablet thus far!
Download a dosbox application and play older PC games.
Download GrooveIP lite (free) and grab a free Google voice number to turn your tab into a giant mobile phone.
Download a GPS app, get a mount for the car and have a nice 7" GPS with 3d turn by turn nav. I use copilot with the north american maps - activated 3d and voice turn by turn for $7.99.
Just a few I can come up with off the top of my head.

Not much really u got basicly a premium experience with the iPad, but one thing u can do that's unique is try out different launchers to change the look of your homescreen/app drawer, you can change icons, layout, etc. And if you really want to get down and dirty with theming you can flash a custom Rom with a theme manager and in the play store there are a bunch of themes to try to ur liking just be sure to make sure the theme is cm10 compatible, glad ur liking ur nexus 7

Google "Tasker". It lets you program your tablet to do pretty much anything.
Mine sounds Ships Bells every half hour, turns off wifi at night, starts the music player when I plug in headphones, and interfaces with RFID cards.
On my list is to have the tablet respond to a text message with a message giving a Google map showing its current GPS location,
and maybe a photo of its surroundings. Sky is really the limit.
And calling the iPad a premium experience is really a matter of taste. It would not be to me.

I respect your opinion on the iPad. Before hating on the apple bandwagon, the iPad 4th generation is VERY slick.
One thing i noticed on the nexus 7 is fast scrolling in apps like facebook isn't fluid. often I find it studders/pauses. Nothing crazy or bad, but if you really sit down with the iPad and keep an open mind - it's a very fluid experience.
The downside is how locked down the ecosystem is, which is where android shines. They both have their pro's and cons. I like them for what each of them have to offer. I'd never limit myself to just one platform. You limit so many possible experiences and gadgets....... and i love me some gadgets

Nothing too elaborate considering the Delay inherent with the streaming.
There may be something a little better than Tic Tac Toe (available) but it would mostly be turn based stuff as anything that requires Twitch and React will not play well.

I could see something akin to the "overview" screen that some racing games do, but as Asphyx says, the inherent delay will prevent anything timing-based from relying on both device and CC screens simultaneously.
Leaderboard, instant replay, map would be possible though.
A Battleship type game would work, as would most hide-your-hand card games, Vegas type gambling games, and trivia games.
Lots of possibilities, but ultimately it's up to the developer and how much Chromecast ties into the core gameplay. The risk is too much tie-in will limit the game's market to Chromecast owners specifically, while not enough tie-in will make Chromecast just a cute toy.
Now if someone made a game that ran on the Chromecast itself... that would be interesting, as it would obviously require a Chromecast to play. Even higher risk, but better possibility of sync between players.

Battleship is a good one! But your right unless there are millions of CCasts sold I don't see anyone really targeting it.

I'm sure they could but they are not a gaming company they are a Ad Supported Search Engine and Data Collection company.
Not really what they are interested in themselves but sure won't mind if someone else decides to licence games and use their Software to put it on a screen.
