Ahh yes gOS
I can't wait until their cloudOS is out...

Android
Ubuntu
OpenSuse

Ubuntu, Android, ChromeOS, not necessarily in that order.

Ubuntu and Android. Those are the only 2 I've used.

Have to go with Ubuntu - It is almost brainless to install and maintain.

I used to use Fedora for a few years, but switched to Ubuntu for its more stable releases. I also am alpha testing Haiku at the moment. My little sister uses Jolicloud.
I just wish I could get the rest of the family to use Linux over Windows.
EDIT: I almost forgot that I'm running Rhobuntu on occasion when I need my Linux fix and am not near a PC.

Archlinux is best I've ever seem for personal use.

Ubuntu
Ubuntu live
Knoppix
Debian (server)
Android

Only tried Ubuntu until now.
I don't think Android realy is a Linux distro, it's Linux based, but heavily modified, even Google said it's not Linux (correct me if I'm wrong).

I'm a big Slackware guy. Been using it since the mid 90s.

Another Android & Ubuntu vote.

Seriously I want to vote for opensolaris but there are no upfront development on the desktop side, so I'd give fedora as my next best option.

Alright, I am not a noob by any means BUT I am very new to Linux and Eclipse. Basically what I want to know is, what can I do (with research obviously) with these?

Virtual Machine and install linux on it... VmWare... or you can try a Live CD.
Deal is... if you don't know that it might be risky for you... with a crap kernel you can "kill" your phone.
Anyway, your choice

don't know if this works, I don't know if I'd risk it (on an SGS' kernel) but you have some form of "Make" available out there
Like
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/make.htm
Makefile
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa380049(VS.85).aspx
I might play around with thoses for compiling drivers to check it out!

Linux (Ubuntu) on Android phones

Has anybody attempted installing any actual Linux OS on an android handset? Was reading about it in the Ubuntu forums and saw it was possible.
So next week I am going to install Ubuntu onto my old Hauwie Ascend, which is currently running CM7. If anybody has done this before, I'd appreciate any tips or pointers. Peace!

Arch or Ubuntu

I am thinking of triple booting on my touchpad. Webos, CM9, and Arch/Ubuntu. Which is more stable and which do you prefer?
I would go for ubuntu, unless you have a need for arch, get ubuntu.

Why Ubuntu ? Do more things work on it ?
I was reading the review on Ubuntu 12.04 on Engadget...its seems the new version of this distro is more user friendly. Also, in the "other development" section of touchpad...someone posted a video of running ubuntu 12.04 on touchpad..it looks awesome..

[Q] Difference between Linux and Windows version?

Hey there,
I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but I was wondering why so many people use linux to build android apps. Shouldn't Android Studio be the same for both the operative systems? I've got a pretty decent computer, so I don't think I could see any speed difference. Currently I have both OS installed on my hard disk.
bad thinking
Its really bad thinking

What do you mean?
There is no big difference in developing android apps on Linux or win or mac . Linux is preferred because its free and android ROM and kernel development is easy on Linux compared to Mac and windows. Otherwise app development is same on all three OS .
