Guys, what's the easiest way to backup my contacts and messages along with all SNS data within my phone itself, before I flash a wipe ROM? If anyone suggests Titanium Backup, please do let me know which system files I should be backing up... Thank you!
Anyone ???
C'mon guys!! Someone reply to this...
I don't know about backing up to the phone, but I have transfered all my contacts to my google account and I use SMS Backup + to save my messages and call logs to my gmail. Of course I then use Titanium Backup to save my apps + their data as well as thinkgs like my wifi access points. I just run the backup all apps + system data before I change ROM and when the new rom is installed I just restore the apps + their data, then restore my messages and call logs with SMS Backup + and of course my contacts are synced by my google account.
I have not found a way to backup the SNS info so have given up on having facebook and twitter info merged with my contacts. I can't be arsed with manually linking contacts together every time I get my ROM Flashing fix
Don't know if thats of any help but thats what I do. I would also be interested in finding out if its possible to backup my mesages, call logs & SNS info on my phone rather than in the cloud.
For contacts & messages & others thing except apps (I use Titanium for them), I use Backup Everything (free app, no need to be root, ht*ps://market.android.com/details?id=com.BackupEverything) :
This application can fast backup and restore almost everything on your phone, Include sms、mms、bookmarks、Call Log、system setting、alarms、apn and application. schedule backup is also supported.
Don't need root.
The backup files are stored in your "External Storage Directory"/BackupEverything/.
The apps are recovered to your "External Storage Directory"/BackupEverything/app/temp/. You can install them by manual.
As I don't have much phone to test, it's hard to make this app works great on every phone. Please send me the err log if you get a failed. I will try my best to fix it.

If you google sms backup with titanium, you should find a really good tut (its on a desire forum I think)
Edit - it's an incredible forum.

New app: system app backupper, it allows you to backup system app and restore them when you want.
This app is created to make you able to restore system apps on a custom rom that cannot contain them.
Hope this could help cyanogen and the whole comunity.
ATM I don't know if it works for app2sd users. You can try. If not I'll update the app to be app2sd compatible.
Maybe it will cause Force Closes if you restore NON NEEDED system app to a different rom

wheres the app?
on the market?
*confirmed* app is on the market
Hope author doesnt mind me posting the apk
here it is:
the app is good but can use a select all button, manually selecting a bunch of the apk files is annoying
I can not find this app in the market. What's the app's name?
The apk will not install it say the app could not be installed using apk installer
If you're using app posted in this thread you have to' change extension to .apk
@stefan.buddle I'll include "select all" into the next version
phone crashed while did backup
@Spon4ik Can you provide me a log?
this might become an app included in barebone ROMs
it say The apk will not install it say the app could not be installed using apk installer
im on cm4.0.4 and yea i unzipped it i know how to install apk it jsut wont install
It is build for android 1.6 (donut)
I can't find the app on the market
Maybe you don't run donut. This app is compiled for android 1.6
Hmmm havne't seen too many success stories. I hope this is figured out, cause it will be ESSENTIAL with the bare bones ROM. Keep everyone posted with the success at getting this working.
Try yourself. Backup a system app, then delete it, then restore it. Tell us if it is working
So far was able to install and make a successful back up. Haven't tried a restore yet but will see in a minute.
Edit: Seemed to work for me. Backed up the email app then deleted it. Then I did a restore and seemed fine to me. One thing I would like to see is the ability to name and pick which backups we can restore instead of the last one we did. Other than that seems good to me.

Are you using app2sd?
What do you exactly mean with "it is working but not for sd?"

There are no buttons to delete it.
You have no backup of the file hence you cannot delete a non-existent backup file. To be honest if you don't know how to use titanium backup I strongly recommend you read some on it.
As for the files that you uploaded, Crossed = it's not installed on your phone and TiBu shows you that after you uninstall an app. Try refreshing the app list.

i have the same issue and i have been using TiBu for over a year. there is no obvious way to remove the crossed out apps that i have both uninstalled and deleted the backups. It uses a term that is not familiar. Im really troubled that since you clearly simply dont know the answer, you decide to bash someone that really needs help.. thats pretty sorry man.. if you cant answer the question why start flaming someone that just wants some help? not cool dude...

run batch operation "remove orphan data"
may have to do it a couple times. the third time i ran it, they were finally gone.\
the TiBu wiki has a ton of helpful info.

I had this problem too.. was just ignoring it for a while will work on it today...
Find the folder on your internal sd. Remove it. I would just move it to your computer, not delete it.

thx for posting this app. It works fine for me and I think it is the best sync online I saw last
My SGS is rooted, using Sempahore kernel. I recently flashed the new JVU rom and backed-up some apps before flashing using Titanium Backup.
After the flash i wanted to recover my games (Asphalt6) but when i launch the game, it keeps asking me to download another 155MB, and it doesn't bring me to my saved game where i had all my stars. It just starts from 0
All i did was open TB - goto backup/restore - click Asphalt 6 - click Backup!
3 files are maded in my titanium backup folder (biggest file +-6MB)
Do i have to set some settings to backup the saved game?
So i can learn for my next flash that i wont loose my saved games from Asphalt6 and GTA3 again..
Thanks
Did you restore the data after flashing?

Yes, ofcourse.. I have tried every method. First installes Asphalt from market, downloaded all files, en then restored (data/app/data+app) via TB
Removes everything, en only restored data+app via TB, then it asked me to download extra files.
Nothing worked. 0 stars..
But maybe i did the backup wrong, or you have to put some extra settings, i was looking in the setting from TB and checked some extra now.
I just want to know how to do it right, so when i will flash again, i don't lose my saved games again..
Size limit

Hi,
It's bit old thread, however i'll post in case someone will have similar question...
In Titanium Backup you would need to go to settings and change the max size of the app data allowed to be backed up, or to choose to save data always, despite of it's size.
I don't remember default value, but its rather low, like 32 Mb or similar, larger data packs are simply skipped from backup process and only APKs are available when restoring those.
You can find the setting by going to:
Preferences -> Backup app external data

Hi,
I'm trying to restore a backup of my apps, along with their data, to my new htc one but have hit a problem. The one is not rooted so titanium is not an option and mybackup seems to be unable to restore my apps data.
I've only just got the one and am a bit reticent to root at this early stage in case it bricks.
Are there any solutions to migrate my app data (from a desire on cm7 btw, so helium not an option either).
Can't believe such a simple thing is proving so difficult!

As far as I know root access is required for what you are trying to do. It will be fairly impossible to brick a HTC through rooting it as you have s-on (basically you can't write to any partitions that could brick a phone with s-on). Maybe someone else knows more and there is some app that can do this :fingers-crossed:
Try HTC own transfer app
Settings
Then under personal settings
Select transfer content
This has a range of transfer options specifically intended to copy apps, and other data including photos from your old phone to your HTC one
If your old phone isn't an HTC then you may need HTC transfer app from android play store on your old phone first
