My husband updated my AT&T Galaxy S to Phoenix Rising 4.1. It has worked great for a week now that he is out of country my ringer for the telephone doesn't work. It notifies me for texts, email and voice mail but not when the phone rings. He has to text me to tell me he is going to call. I have gone through every setting that I can think of. I'm thinking I must be missing one???

Check these settings : SILENT MODE: (make sure its un-checked), VOLUME: (make sure incoming call volume is up) and PHONE RINGTONES: (make sure you have a ringtone selected and not set to silent) To get there press MENU >SETTINGS >SOUND. If you have any music stored on your phone you can use "Music Mod" (free app on android market) to set songs as ringtones. Its easy to overlook some of these settings sometimes. Some of the things that has vexed me the most have been right under my nose. I hope some of this helps, if not, you may have to re-flash your ROM. (piece of cake) Good luck.

Do you have the option for the call disconnect tone? The galaxy s user manual indicated that it should be there and yet I don't see it. I have had a few instances where I have been talking to myself after a dropped call and I'd rather not continue this behavior...
Nope, definitely not there for me. Would be nice to have it added somehow, or replace Call/Contacts app entirely with the stock AOSP one.
Got a link to this any information at all (developer as well as non-developer) on the stock AOSP one? I intensely dislike the touchwiz phone app.
I badly miss this feature. With all the mordern noice cancelation you frequently don't hear background noise, so when call ends unexpectedly you may not realize it. Very annoying. Please let me know if you've found an alternative solution for end of call tone
I hope this is ok to ask here.... Is there an app or feature that can make the phone light up or make a noise if I have a voice mail? I've looked and so far nada. I don't always just pick up my phone and am hoping I can find something to prompt me too.

There is also an app on the Market called Missed Call that I could never really get to work right. You can set it up to provide a notification for a missed call or SMS using sound and/or vibration at a preset frequency (every minute, etc.).
The one I have used is NoLED, also on the Market. It puts a lighted icon on your dark screen indicating that you have an SMS or a missed call. Not quite the same as a voicemail notification, but hey you can't have a voicemail unless you missed a call.
EDIT: NoLED now includes a voicemail notification icon. Not sure if i just missed it or if it's a new feature; the app just updated recently.
I cannot for the life of me figure out how to answer an incoming call on my tab. I have the overcome 2.0.0 rom, and a Tmobile tab.
I have gvoice set up properly, I'm able to call the tab from another phone, it rings through, and when I slide the notification bar down, I see this, the phone icon (which I tapped and nothing happened), mute, headset, and end buttons. I do not see any other button or way to let me answer the incoming call. I am stumped. This is what I see. What am I missing? Is it the rom? Can anyone please help?
Thanks.
Ok, I'm going to try to answer your question but I have a few myself. Are you using google voice via sip account for your calls? If so, maybe someone has an answer for you, as I do not use google talk. Um, so generally in the Tab when someone calls you, u see the call and use the slider to answer.

Yes, google voice via antisip and ipkall. That picture I posted is what I see when a call comes in. That's the notification pulldown. When a call comes, I have to wake the screen and then use the pulldown, but there's no slider or anything to answer the call.
Sorry I can't be of more help but I'm not using clip at the momment. Have you read the overcome thread to see if anyone else was having problems with voip or their website?
Don't you tap the phone icon (green button)?
he's saying it does nothing

Yes I tried that. It doesn't do anything, it doesn't change color or move, it's frozen just the way it looks in that pic. I'm wondering if it's missing in the rom. I can call the phone, and it rings and rings, but I can't physically answer it. I haven't tried via bluetooth headset or something like that yet.
I bet your going to need a different app to make this work.
I use GV on my SGT, and it works fine.
I agree with Starlog. For sip or voip apps, they usually have their own dialer app.
Go to the market and search voip, sip, or antisip.

Ok, I dl'd the apps Gvoice, and Gvoice callback since I think those were the ones needed? When I call through Gvoice callback, the GV calls my Gtab back to connect the call, but I can't pick it up, since I can't figure out why the button won't work. It rings the number I'm calling, but because Gvoice calls the number I'm dialing as well as my gtab and I can't push a button to connect, I'm stuck. Maybe I need a new dialer?
Ok shooting in the dark here, but isnt there in settings > call settings go to internet call settings. check those options in gingerbread under accounts and see if that helps. Again, I do not use sip or voip.

I have the settings set up right. I can get calls coming through, but I have no way to answer them. Maybe bluetooth will work. I'll have to check when I get back home.
I have same problem. Voip callas work, but can not answer incoming call.
2.6.35.7 Overcome-v3.1.0#16
Overcome v2.0.1-HERMES
Must have been the overcome Gold ROM. I flashed CM7 and with the same settings, it all works, and I can make and receive calls. Thanks for all the help!
Now I have updated new Ikaros, but same same. Can not answer internet call?
Does anyone know the solution?!?
I have now upgraded to Jupiter. Now I can reject the call, but not still can answer the call.
I can not write to the overcome-conversation because I have too few messages.
OK...couple of issues at play here, I think.
First, I'm on a stock, non-rooted M8 - received the latest OTA update, but the issue(s) I have, I have been having since I started using the phone.
I have Google Voice installed and use it for my voicemail app - I did this on my S3 that I had (rooted, CM10 - I think it was CM10) and it worked great. I'd miss a call, get a voicemail, get a notification...I'd click the notification and it played the voicemail within the dialer app.
On my M8, I miss a call and get a notification for a VM...I click the VM notification and sometimes it does nothing, other times it takes me to my call history/log. No way to play the voicemail. I have to manually clear the notification, and then open the Google Voice app and listen to the voicemail.
FIRST - Is there a way to click the notification and have the voicemail play back natively?
SECOND - Assuming I can't do what I want I have an even bigger issue...Even after I listen to the VM in Google Voice I get notifications that I have new voicemails...They are "new" in that I never listened to them so GV views them as "new" but they're months (years?) old. Typical scenario...I miss a call, get a VM, open up GV and listen to the VM (maybe delete it, maybe not), and go about my business. No VM notifications...until I get a new text message...then my phone goes crazy and dings/beeps something like a dozen times and my VM notification is back. GV is alerting me to "new" VMs that I've long since dismissed the notification for...anything I can do about that?
Thanks!

Unfortunately, that doesn't really fix it...I went through and marked all "unread" as "read" and deleted numerous old Vmails...unless I delete ALL old Vmails, this happens. I could do that - but I sure as **** shouldn't have to do that. It's a bug.
It worked just fine on CM10 (and my GS3) - I'd get the notification when there was a new VM, I'd click the notification, and I'd listen to it in the 'stock' dialer/vmail app with CM10. No persistent notifications.
How do we enable notifications of incoming texts for when I am talking on the phone?
My other phones would make an audible beep and/or vibrate when I got an incoming text while I was talking on the phone and I think this option is a necessity.
My GF thinks I was blowing her off because of this new phone and I'm in the dog house.
Thanks in advance.

Stock is not great. I use Notify Pro.
If its a stock ROM, it may not have the feature to enable that. If its a custom ROM, it might. Stock or custom just go to sound in setting, and look for "vibrate on notification" and enable it.
Sent from my Moto G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Which texting app are you using? I'm very happy with 8sms. It has a setting for 'In call' notifications including sound and/or vibrate.

I just got the Moto X, so it's 100% stock.
Thank you for the suggestion of 8sms. Maybe I'll give it a shot. :fingers-crossed:
On the meantime, I was hoping I could enable the stock software to alert me of incoming texts while I am talking on the phone.
Thanks again.
Try using Volume Ace from play store.. Ll work definitely
