Hello all.
After starting with my Symplistic Icons thread, I am now making
coloured Andoird icons on the side.
It didn't fit in my first thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=913747)so I started this one.
Please request if you need a specific colour.

if theyre icons, you need to extract the png files, and then use something like desktop visualizer
the white and yellow ones are wicked. well done, mate!
Gino,
Thanks for your diligence in making the colored Android Icons.
I downloaded the RAR file and upon opening there was an error that the file isn't a valid RAR file. Did I do something wrong?
Thanks,
KW

I was able to extract these from the rar file, but when i add them to my screen they have the white border around them. Any way to do away with the border?

EDIT: NVM, I just had to rename the manilla.png and manilla.skn files to default.png and default.skn. Thanks, looks great!

All Lycox was saying was to use total commander to edit the settings.ini file and change the skin= from default to manilla instead of overwritting the default png and skn files. That way you can always fall back to the default skin if you preferred.
Very nice work. Thank you.
Updated to Version 0.75
Does any one know what this file is called? I am trying to change the color, even with replacing the skn and png it still stays blue. I assume it is in windows, but I can't find it.
For those that want to be able to try them easily, here's all the skins renamed as necessary, just edit the settings.ini as needed.

is there a cab file out there that changes the stock windows logo to a vista ball logo? I can't seem to find a cab for just that switch.
ive been looking for that same cab to.

Ya, that would be cool.. I would be interested if such a creature existed
Start Icons Skins QVGA-WQVGA-VGA and How-to
There's not already a Vista Orb VGA but not hard to make
I'll get an image ready and resource i'll need is shellres.192.dll can be extracted with ROM Extractor attached.
This resource will have to be each person as ROMs can change the images in Settings etc.

You probably have the ClearStorage.exe in your \Windows\ folder.
If you do, just make a shortcut to it.

I hope you know this file is hidden by default.
You can view these files in rom with Total Commander.
But anyway, attached is the ClearStorage files in a folder.
Just unzip anywhere you like, and hit ClearStorage.exe.

Thank you so much HAMKENG, for posting the zip file of clear storage.
By the way I also sent a pm to WAJK & he replied that he does not cook the clear storage file in his rom, so that was the reason that I was not able to find it in the windows folder, as you had advised.
Anyways thank you once more.
Hi Everyone
I feel like an idiot asking this question but how can what can I use to read the xml files that are in the apk files? Every time I double click on them and IE opens I get an error. I then downloaded an xml editor and when I tried to open it in there I also got an error.
Right click on the file, click open with and choose notepad to view its raw formating. if you want a cleaner look use word to view the XML file. Be careful not to save it in word though it can garble the file. you will just have to play with it to see what works for you.
IE definitely is not a good way to view and edit XML files.

Use smali and backsmali. If you download this little toolkit from here you should be able to edit them in notepad++. I forgot how to use them but its pretty easy.
Maybe I'm wrong--been so long since I've messed with this stuff

Woohoo I should tag the link and put it in my sig. That is if I still have room. Lol
XML files are compiled to binary form when app is built. This is why you can't open them.
AFAIK my apktool is only one tool, which decompiles XMLs fully and gives you possibility to compile them back. There is also AXMLPrinter tool, but it doesn't decompile all data and it's used mainly to help with hex editing, cause it can't compile file back.
smali/baksmali doesn't have anything to do with XML files.

Yeah, I know, sorry for that.
I just like to explain my point of view very precisely to avoid misunderstanding. And I ain't English speaker, so it takes me some time to describe it. I could do just two things to not waste time on repeating myself: give a link or give a link and place a quotation beneath it ;-) Maybe second option is better

You can also view and edit binary xml's in root explorer, as long as they haven't been hex edited. Skews up the formatting some how.
