So, after doing all the research work on getting kies to work for my SGS iam still looking for a solution.
Some details-
SGS running froyo (2.2), Root, OCLF applied.
Things I tried-
1.Installed atleast 3 versions of Kies including the latest 2.0.0.11014_49
2.Uninstalling USB Drivers and Kies - restarting- fresh installation
3.Factory reset on phone.
4.Format internal SD card.
^ all in vain.
The problem is when i connect my phone to my windows 7 (SP1) ultimate netbook, all the drivers get installed ( Samsun_android and CDC) successfully.
but when i open kies it sometimes keeps showing connecting till infinity and sometimes it gets stuck while doing that and i have to kill it via task manager.
..Now i know its a very common problem most SGS users are facing, but somehow everyone has found a way out.Me still stuck.
Any Ideas/Suggestions/Discussions most welcome !
Thanks in Anticipation !!

If you can get into download mode then Heimdall will be able to detect your phone using either Windows or Linux. Heimdall works on OS X also however a fixed bootloader is required.
update:
i installed the driver on my pc from softpedia
i restarted my pc and odin can recognize my phone now
i flashed froyo rom and its not working . i will try another rom and see what will happen
i installed 2.1 rom followed by 2.2 rom and its working like a charm
problem solved
thanx
Thanks in advance for any response!
The followings are my phone's symthoms:
1. My phone WAS FANTASTIC until I updated new Darky extreme version 9.2 (upgrade from 9.0)
2. I degraded it to the stock rom with Ryan's OLFG -> Working very well...
3. Until the phone was restarted. The phone was still working however
4. IT BECAME FREEZING. I couldnt scroll, couldnt touch the screen, or the phone response was like 5 mins later for each touch.
5. I followed instructions on the internet to flash with stock rom (JM8) and upgraded it to JPO, and the result is
6. THE PHONE COULDNT BE BOOTED at the Galaxy logo.
7. I tried to flash the phone over and over with different stock roms using ODIN 1.3 (with well understanding about repartition and PIT)
8. NOW, my phone is still able to access the download mode, but my PC CANNT SEE THE PHONE DRIVER ANYMORE(tested on 3 other laptops with the same result)
9. Reinstall USB drivers like 20 times, the results have been the same.
TO me this should be a phone death. Im gonna purchase the new Galaxy S 2
HOWEVER, If there is anyway to revive my phone back to normal (Cuz I wanna get some important data in the internal card), I will not only send a big gratitude but some DONATE as well.
Thanks.
so you put the phone in download mode first... then you attach the USB ???
Does anything happen when your in Odin ?? does it not say connected or anything ??
and have you tried doing a factory reset in recovery mode ??
aslong as your phone can go into download mode there is still hope so dont give up on it just yet
U obv have samsung kies right?. Go on processes on ur pc ctrl alt del n kill the kiestrayagent process
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Surely I killed KS before doing ODIN. The PC(s) said it was Unknown device.
My phone was on when android 2.1 installed (but freezing, not just lagging .... completely freezing on the home screen) and would not boot if i installed 2.2
Sigh....
Thanks for your replies
The PC(s) said it was Unknown device.
Thats generally a USB /driver/windows problem .
You installed deadlys rom and it should still be recoverable even from that .
Is your phone picked up via Kies phone/Odin will need Kies installed .
I would have flashed back to a clean copy of Eclair first off to get the phone working .
jje
Both Kies and Odin could not see my phone... I killed Kies process before doing Odin, but the result was still a sadness.
Hey guys.
So I have a problem,
I was on darky's rom 10 and I have installed cyanogenmod7.
After that phone was woooow fast and great and everything...untill I decided to listen some tunes from external sd.
And so I have found out that I can't see external sd because I installed cyanogenmod on non froyo ROM.
Then I've tried to flash stock froyo but odin hanged a long time and I just restarted whole operation.
Now I have an icon ! that phone wants to connect to computer.
I can enter download mode with vol. down + home + power but it that state Odin cant see shiet. Only thing that can see phone in that state is windows (trying to install drivers and then fails!?) and kies (hanging on "connecting").
So, what are my options? Bricked for life? Or..... :S
k that symbol means connectivity issues, so try changing the usb port and if that fails try using another usb cable...run odin as administrator before trying all this!!
ok I've managed to get Odint to recognise it..
I've tried to flash froyo from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853950
and it doest boot, hangs at samsung/galaxy logo 4ever...
flashing darky's 9 resurection also gives no good thing.
just hangs on start samsung/galaxy logo/black screen in loop....
had the same problem as well and it was solved by plugging the usb cable at the back of the pc.
if that doesnt work try flashing other roms... you can find some tutorial on totallydubbed's youtube channel with the link of the rom in the description.

Hey ppl,
I've had an awful fight with this phone and my brain and stupid PC.
omg
So, I have tried to flash 2.2 and it worked, then tried to flash cyanogenmod and it worked (again) but I couldn't reach external sd (again).
So I said to myself...f*** this s*** I'm going on stock,
And I did,
firmware version
2.3.4
baseband version
I9000XXJVR
kernel version
2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVR-CL425308
[email protected] #2
build number
gingerbread.xxjvr
This is what I have, and the problem I'm facing (again) is that phone or pc via USB can't recognise external SD.
Help please.
p.s. how can I easily go to cyanogenmod from here?
Kies is saying that "This version of the device cannot be updated."
Windows can't see either internal or external SD.
update;
I've installed Darky's 10.2 ressurection, something is very wrong with my phone.
Install went fine, rebooted ok.
Still no SD card, when I reinsert it, it says its blank or non supported format.
Tryed to reboot the phone and it just loops on darky's logo/animation.
Help?
I can't find a solution to this on the forum so hopefully someone here can advise me.
I can get into download mode, the phone has stock JVQ on it, i have installed the galaxy s drivers, updated kies to make sure the drivers are the latest (I've also installed the drivers from a standalone file - version 1.3.450.0).
I have used Odin v1.7 and 1.85 both show no sign of the phone.
I recently formatted the SD card and the USB portion using the phone's in built function... that may be the issue... can anyone suggest what files are missing from the phone to get it recognised in download mode?
I'm currently downloading the Nexus S drivers but I ain't too hopeful.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated!! Thanks
Ok so somehow the phone got itself recognised, i was installing the Android SDK and the Java JDK to see if i could install the nexus s drivers and at some stage (after JDK was installed) i uplugged the phone from my computer and heard a beep that said i'd disconnected something...
I tried Odin again and it worked... froze at setup connection but took the battery out and it is now downloading the magic... the internet is amazing!!
ok so now it's bootlooping, can't figure it out. Anyone got any suggestions? I get JVQ installed and it's rooted then when I try flash the latest ICS RC13 it goes into bootloop
Edit: Ok so it seems that bootlooping is an issue a few people are seeing. Anyone got any suggestions on how to address it? the two I have are
1. just let it boot loop for 20 mins and it might fix itself
2. don't wipe the dalvik/cache....
anything else?
Flash the kernel from the cm9 rom with heimdall/odin in download mode
Hi everyone...how are you guys...???
Well i have samsung galaxy note ICS 4.0.
I bought my phone 2 months ago, everything was working fine till 2 days back i updated it to ICS and then all chaos happened... Freezing, hanging, battery lasting 6 hours and too slow...
Problem 1 :- Since updated with ICS my data cable wont connect to PC Windows 7. It will only charge the phone and wont open data storage as it earlier used to do. so as a result i have lost all my contacts , messages and i am tired of resetting it again and again.
Problem 2 :- I want to degrade from ICS to Gingerbread... I dont know how to do it as i dont know much about pc or phones ??
Your Help would be really appreciated as i am sick and tired of my phone... I wish like throwing it but i cant spend 35000 rs on it....
You can flash a stock GB rom directly via pc Odin. There is a thread in development section by dr.ketan it has good guides and all the files you need.
Check it out.
Thanks Bro... but i still dont know how to downgrade...
plus my phone wont connect with pc...
Contacts and appointments are synced through google !!
Have you tried updating Kies ?
Have you tried upgrading the drivers for Galaxy Note on the computer?
Do worry about your phone, Everything can be fixed ! And Galaxy note runs beautifully on ICS.

cheers
thanks
thanks bro but still tell me why my phone is not connecting with my pc. i have tried all the things and techniques but still it would only charge but does not open mass storage as it earlier used to do...Need Help
You can try the following procedure suggested by Dr. Ketan
Rooting
Root Stock ICS ROM
This method works on the released ICS rom from Germany and I would expect it to work for the rest of the ICS roms due for release..
This method does not increase the binary counter or causes a yellow exclamation mark
Rooting
Download the Files first and put in your SDCARD [CWM zip][ SU-Busybox-Installer.zip][ SU-Uninstaller-signed.zip]
Reboot to recovery.
Choose apply update from external storage.
(Touch the screen as if you are using the phone to choose the options)
Choose CWM.zip and wait until CWM recovery appear.
Choose install zip from sdcard or external SD
Choose and Install SU-Busybox-Installer.zip
Reboot
You are done and now your device is Rooted
Once you have a rooted phone you can flash the rom you want

first of all, you need to check your Usb cable and your USB ports as well (on your laptop or PC), unplug and try plugging the cable to another usb port or better yet to another computer and see if it'll recognize your phone.
thru the process of elimination you can verify which is which is the culprit...
uninstall kies completely and install samsung's proprietary usb drivers and check if it will recognize your phone after.
Hope this helps.. Good luck..
