I can't find anything in the Froyo threads that says it shouldn't be working, but I'm not getting the option to sync contacts on Froyo on my NC. I've got it on the emmc via brianf21's customized image.
The contacts app is there ... just the option to sync to it under accounts isn't.

Is this possible? Like I want the Birthday to be sync with the rest of the info. Doesn't seem to have a slot in the default contacts app. On Cyanogenmod 4.2.3.1.
In my experience with the G1 (have had it since initial release) there has never been an option to add the birth date.
I've only seen that in the Hero contact app. you can always use a Hero rom for the G1, but even still, that doesn't seem to sync the Birthdates with google. I
've installed plenty of Hero roms over and over trying to look for a halfway decent one, and I've always had to manually enter the birthdates.
Until I get a mass confirmation of a Hero rom working great, I'm going to stick with CM.

A way round it is to add birthdays to your gmail contacts then add 'contacts birthdays and events calendar' to your google calendar, then they will all appear in your calendar on your G1.
I hope they fix this.
I can't accept that Google can't..
It is essential info.

Hi all,
I can't find an answer to this anywhere.
Before I had a LG EVE with openetna rom and when I synced my contacts with gmail, it synced only the "My contacts" part.
Now with my i9000 it syncs "All contacts" which is "My contacts" + All the contacts I ever answered to, which polluates my phonebook ...
Any way to avoid that ??
Thanks a lot !
C.
as far as i know, eclair (2.1) syncs everything from your account. but froyo (2.2) allows you to show/sync selective groups from your Gcontacts.
Great !
Thanks for your answer, I'll have to wait a little, or flash it with a JPK firmware to test..
But I'm quite sure that the openetna I had was based on 2.1
Is this specifically a Galaxy S issue? because I'm trying to do the same thing where I only want to sync contacts in my contact list, not everyone I've corresponded with in the past over gmail.
The reason I ask is because my buddy's got a HTC Desire and he says he doesn't have that problem and it syncs fine.
????
I have synced my Contacts with the default contacts app, but they wont be read from Gmail (or Mail or Voice).
How do you sync contacts with the device so that Gmail and Google Voice can see and use them.

No workie, wait until the nook is revved to Android 2.2 in January and this should clear itself up. Right now contacts are strictly for Nook apps use.
I was going to restore the contacts service from my TI backup on my CM6.1 dInc but I'd rather wait and see what develops with the new 2.2
Ah, thanks. i didnt see that listed anywhere.
Is there a replacement app that can integrate with Gmail and Voice?
On the stock Rogers 2.1.1 Android, I was able to install the official Facebook app, configure it and it would ask me if I wanted to synchronize my existing contacts (I would select to sync only those that were already on my phone) and everything worked rather peachy... it would auto link up my Facebook contacts with my Google/Phone contacts all by itself.
I just today upgraded to Android 2.2 (via Kies... (un)official Rogers ROM) and installed the Facebook app again and it never asked me to sync any contacts at all. I went to accounts and tried to add an account (specifically the Facebook app choice, since there is 2) and it does nothing.
I figured it was some slight incompatibility with the app, so I then tried the built-in Facebook account type with the phone - it works and syncs contacts, but it asks me to pick every single contact I want and on top of that, it doesn't seem to do a very good job of linking contacts at all.
I'm wondering, this experience I've had with 2.2, is this intended; is this the way it should be (ie, kinda crappy compared to my 2.1 experience)?
what do you mean by "so I then tried the built-in Facebook account type with the phone"? i am having problems also. i'm using the Cognition ROM which was ported from the Rogers 2.2 release, so i am sure we are in the same boat. everything i have tried hasnt worked.
When I loaded CM7 Nightly, RC2, RC3, and now CM7.0, some of my contacts dont show up. When I manually type in the phone # then it shows there name and pic but its not in the contacts.
This doesnt happen on any other rom. When I go back to the Desire HD rom all the contacts are there.
This isnt facebook contacts, just regular Gmail contacts. It doesnt make a difference whether I select "show contacts with phone #s" or not. Either way a few contacts just kinda disappear.
Anyone else having this issue? I imagine a some people probally just dont notice a few contacts gone
Thanks in advance
i see the same problem. so then i logged into the gmail website, went to contacts, and turns out google completely altered the way contacts are set up. previously it was "my contacts" was what you used and got synced with your phone. now its just one huge list of everything, so certain contacts may or may not show up in the list. i'm pissed cause now i have to redo all my contacts again.
